Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Chill-hazed copper in color, with a sturdy two-inch head of off-white foam.
Aroma-Faint pale malt
Taste-Pale/toasted malt, nice floral hop note, subtle citrus rind. Good flavor and character for a lager, drinks and tastes like a pale ale, with a nice dose of noble hops. A crowd-pleasing, backyard brew.

Poured into a pint glass
A: Love the label art. Aggressive pour yields a very thin layer of white head with poor retention - more please. Chill hazy straw yellow.
S: Clean grain with modest hopping. Not strong, but not bad.
T: Bready grain, noble hops, slight cooked vegetable is a neg. Nice balance, good hop presence, but a tad metallic.
M: Little carbonation is a negative. Nice strong bitterness level.
D: Pretty high. I'd order another and would probably buy again.

Bottle via trade thanks to dug on BA, unintentionally aged for awhile until one day when I found it in my "cellar" (which is a closet that's usually about 70 degrees, so not the best for storage) and freaked the hell out. Quickly popped this bad boy into my fridge, then busted it out to pair with a dinner of scallops and pasta.
Pours a hazy golden-straw color with a well-retained one finger white head and some good lacing.
Aroma is pale malt, grain, Noble hops, and maybe even some wheat. Did they use some wheat in this?
Flavor is somewhat sweet with bready pale malt, grain, wheat, and herbal and floral hops. Nothing that blows you away, but really enjoyable. Almost similar to something like Surly Hell if I had to make a comparison...although FFF calls it a continental-style pils, not a helles lager. Honestly, I put it more in the helles lager category.
Palate is smooth, fairly light, and crisp. The sweetness and a little bitterness lingers in your mouth on the finish.
Drinkability is insanely high. Taking down a bomber of this is like taking candy from a baby.

Jinx Proof, bottled on or about September 2, 2011 and consumed on September 11, 2011
Served in New Belgium globe glass
A: Pours clear pale gold with three-finger, white head that falls away quickly. Some foamy sheets stick to glass. Medium-light effervescence.
S: Grainy notes seem quite strong. Spicy noble hops are also present. They work together and strike me as being in the right proportion.
T: Malty sweetness touches palate before grainy malts and noble hops, which take on an additional flowery characteristic, take over. Additional flavors include light caramelly malt. Medium-light bitterness contributes to crisp and clean finish.
M: Lighter bodied and medium carbonation make for a lively mouthfeel.
O: Jinx Proof showcases the most important qualities in a Dortmunder Export: balance, crispness and drinkability.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
Appearance : cloudy golden color. A vigorous pour yeilds a fluffy white head with lots of retention and superb lacing.
Smell : pleasant biscuit and malt aroma and subtle hoppiness.
Taste : very crisp and refreshing and easy to drink. Mild hop bitterness on the finish. This is a quality beer.
Mouthfeel : light body with adequate carbonation
Overall : I really enjoyed this beer and will pick it up when I have the chance. Great example of the style worth seeking out.

Average smell for a dortmunder/pilsener/lager...european yeast, decent smell. The look in this is above average, nice golden color with nice head and decent lacing. The first couple I have had of this were a little off...by the time I got through the six pack in day three I has to review..it had changed, for the better! The taste on this was much better than the smell for sure...one hg ny favorite dorts for sure..at first I regretted my purchase, but after a few I was hooked. I live nearly three hours from the brewery but would drive back up for this for sure..nice job changing up the pace Three Floyds...one of my favorite lagers.

A long day of disc golf, walking in the door. What? Ho! What's this? A many-eyed snake upon the doorstep? Orange, cloudy, with no head, just the many eyes. Jinxproof, you say? Wherefore?
A warm biscuit assaults the nostrils with feathery grace. Clean, wistful, a light, airy aroma, field-like, but not particularly grassy. The thing slides along the floor towards me. Get out of my house! Noble, almost hay-like in the nose, more like browned grass than green. On to the flavour... there's the light graininess, a faint bitter and the hay, and a bready malt note that turns to rather a bitter finish. Longs at you for another sip. Come again? Hanging upon the window-sill? I'll chase that rascal out yet!
And light, airy, just the faintest lingering pucker, as it were, and dry. (How's that he said? A flip dark chill winter bastard though dry?) And a medium-high prickling feeling, as it were on the tongue... but my, could one drink this all night.
I'll chase that rascal out, you mark my words! I shan't have any of those many-headed type blokes rifling about my corridors!
Have at you!

Stopped by the brewpub on a boring Saturday night and picked this one up.
22oz bomber into a pint glass.
A: I'd argue that this is probably the lightest beer, in terms of color, that Three Floyds has ever produced. Pours out a crystal clear deep golden straw with light peachy highlights, head is light and frothy two inches thick after the initial pour which settles into a quarter inch cap for the remainder of the review.
S: Noble hop aroma? From Three Floyds? Am I dreaming? As unbelievable as it sounds the distinct herbal/floral softness greets the nose and mixes with a touch of honey sweetness and a crispy, light bready crustiness. Plays to the hallmarks of the style quite well.
T/MF: Feel is a palate pleasing crispness, light and tight on the tongue which makes for quite an easy sipper. Tastes like a love letter to the style, all the hallmarks are here much like in the aroma. Opens with a touch of honey sweetness balanced with touches of pepper and grassyness (if such a thing can be said to exist) and finishes with an almost crackery kind of dryness that compels you to go back again for another sip.
D: This one disappeared on me a little too quickly, it's remarkable how consistently this beer reminded me of Great Lakes version of the same. This beer is, dare is say such a thing, normal. And it's not a bad thing either, as it turns out to be a well constructed beer, just not one of the most popular styles is all.

Beer poured from bottle into a Nonic-pint shaped glass
Different label that "advertised," must be something new. Either way I dig it.
A - Beer pours with a small, less than one finger size head; white in color, slightly bubbly in appearance, doesn't hold very well; head diminishes quickly into the golden cloudy body; some moderate carbonation stems from the bottom of the glass; some lacing formed also, but didn't stick well - streaky
S - Crisp sweet lager nose; one-dimensional traditional lager airiness; corn and grains; lager-esq; slightly fruity; clean; pear; bread
T - Good clean and crisp lager drink; grains like corn and barley come up rather quickly and disappear pretty quickly; malt is slightly nutty, but has the traditional cold-fermented malt taste; sweet, like a immature white grape; bread
M - Thick and filling beer; very effervescent and smooth; creamy; finishes with a crisp heavy woody taste; leaves a slight tangy feel on the edge of the tongue
D - One of the better lagers I've had; easy to drink and enjoy; could replace the cheap crap beers I've had while watching the game; I like 3 Floyd's lager-venture, long-time waiting

I got a sixer of this as a Christmas present from my brother-in-law and his wife.
Presently, this is the #8 rankied Dortmunder here on BA.
Served in a FFF shaped glass.
A: Poured a fairly murky, apricot color, with a massive 1.5 finger solid white head that retained itself throughout the session.
S: I got lots of freshly baked biscuit upfront, followed by a tinge of orange husk. This was moderate in intensity.
T: This beer emulated the taste of baked dough better than most that I've tried... Pretty astounding actually. Impeccably clean, refreshing, and with a slight fruit edge to the finish.
M: Bubbly and not a bit watered down or cheap-tasting. The lacing was moderate and the slightly bitter kick on the finish was excellent.
O: FFF is not just hop bombs and Dark Lord, and to my mind, with brews like this one, they.ve proven that they are also masters of nuance. Really nice fellas....

Served in a pint glass at just below cellar temperature from a 22oz bomber, freshly purchased from the brewery.
A - Vibrant gold with a nice, off-white head that lasts a minute or two before diminishing to a fairly cohesive mat. Lacing is sparse.
S - Crisp and hoppy, with an herbal-floral character. Some slight metallics. Unassuming and mellow.
D - Bready sweetness on the way in - think Irish Soda Bread. Only a brief spattering of bitterness that transitions seamlessly to a nice crisp and dry swallow.
M - Very nice. Crisp and refreshing - works very well for the summertime. Light tingle and a frothy wash.
D - Excellent for the style, shining in both flavor and refreshment areas. A very good FFF offering that *doesn't* rely on on the overuse of Amarillo.

Bomber purchased at the brewpub. Great artwork on the label, btw.
a - pours a bright golden color, fairly hazy, one-inch ivory head with great retention and lacing, tons of tiny bubbles continuously rising to the top
s - bready malt and lemon citrus are the predominant aromas, light spiciness and earthy hops
t - lemon zest and earthy hops up front with a burst of bready malt and light spice in the midpalate, more earthiness and grainy flavors linger on the finish, quite clean tasting and refreshing, not much alcohol to speak of
m - medium-to-light bodied with higher carbonation, fairly dry on the finish, no alcohol warming
d - very drinkable stuff, easy on the palate and very refreshing, not overly complex, but interesting enough to keep me from getting bored
Very good lager from FFF, though I actually prefer the Gorch Fock I tried on tap at the brewpub. These guys really do a ton of styles well. Well worth seeking a bottle of this out.

poured into a pint glass.
A.
your average looking american lager. Light straw color with about 1 fingers worth of very white head.
S.
nothing real strong but some slight bready grains with some earthy notes to it. Reminds me a bit like weihenstephaner festbier. For this particular style of beer I'd say it's pretty decent.
T.
Similar to nose. Bready malts, slight bitterness in there. A very clean, crisp tasting beer. Maybe a slight hint of honey in here? Again, very similar IMO to the Weihenstephaner.
M.
Great for the style. A very light bodied beer. Good carbonation for the style. A nice crisp clean beer with a nice refreshing finish. Would be great on a hot day.
D.
pretty good, but doubt I'd grab another bomber of this. Too many other good FFF beers I'd grab and I'm more of an ale man myself. Doubt this will be around longer anyways. A sweet looking bottle though!

Thanks to erric (both Reddit and BA) for this exiting FFF lager.
Huge 3 finger fluffy head forces me to stop pouring just before its done, fades semi slowly with sticky soapy lacing reinforced with many bubbles rising from the bottom, and aside from the many bubbles its brilliantly clear golden pilsner tan color.
Nose if typical pilsner, light soft earthy grainy straw like malts, tons of lager aromas with crisp malt and light fruits, it also had a light yeasty aroma, and light grassy hops.
Taste starts again with grainy earthy pilsner like malts, light straw and wheat, and a bit yeasty. Then again hops, grassy earthy hops with a light bitterness and hint of orange peel citrus. Juicy malts overall lead to the lager flavors, light fruits and pretty crisp. Finishes a bit more bitter and quite dry, more grassy hops, grainy malts, and soft lager fruits.
Mouth is med to a bit lighter bodied, good carb.
Overall nice, more of a spring beer, nice pilsner like qualities, malts, nice hops and bitterness, light crisp and very drinkable. The best lager from FFF so far.

22 oz bottle into a mug. Purchased this one at thh brewery back in August.
Pours an unfiltered looking hazy gold, with 2 1/2 fingers of foamy brite-white head. Retains with a thin, yet frothy look, leaving some good looking swathes of patchy lacing back. The aroma sits in the nose with a bit of a heavier feel, featuring notes of buttered toast and eggy smelling biscuits. Floral and spicy Noble hops are present, playing second fiddle for the most part to the malts, yet still making it's presence known.
The earthy hops are much more assertive in the taste, with a peppery sharpness and aggressive dryness to it. Bready sweetness and a touch of fruity citrus come out towards the back of the swallow with a toasty flush, but this is profile is all about that bitter drying feel that absolutely sucks any moisture out of the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied (this feels like it could be on the higher end of the ABV style range), with a sharp crispness to it which matches that biting hop profile. This thins out a bit towards the backend of each sip, allowing for maximum flow and drinkibility. Great even feel here in the mouth.
Crisp, tasty, and thirst quenching, this was a well made take on the style and I had no problem killing this bomber. Hey, sometimes it's nice to just enjoy a "normal" beer from these guys once in a while.

During my recent move to bumfuck NY, I stopped by the 3 Floyds brewery and the boys loaded my truck full of provisions to last the cold winter NY nights. This wonderful little beer among them.
This is like the Paris Hilton of beer. Blonde, rich, and you can't help but want some more. Such a little carbonated whore.
A bright golden blonde with a brilliant white head that is disappears quickly.
Nobles hops and grapenuts.
Dry and crisp. I've gone throught about a case of this and still can't get enough.
My wife likes this. That says something about this beer.

22oz. bomber received in a recent trade with GbVDave. Thanks again man!
Pours a cloudy, very dark golden ripe banana yellow color with some golden yellowish orange hues when held to a light source and a 1.5 finger frothy head with decent retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring.
Slightly earthy/grassy hop aroma with a good bit of bready yeast, wheat and citrus character in the nose. Hints of peppery zest and lemon peel a well as some biscuit malt.
Surprisingly hop forward for a pilsner although it is Three Floyds so I guess I shouldn't be too shocked. This provides a nice dry earthy character that lasts throughout even though it is nicely balanced by a slightly malty backbone with lots of golden wheat, bready yeast, light crisp fruit, citrus peel and peppery spice. Very well balanced, light, crisp and refreshing. Perfect for the warmer months although there is two feet of snow on the ground right now. Nice dry grassy hop finish that gives it a crisp bite. Very good.

Thanks to heliosphann for this 650 mL bomber.
A: The lager is, at least on first pour, a fizzy yellow beer, quite clear sitting in my glass. A white, and I mean white, head of nearly a finger sits complacently before wasting away. It should be noted that my second pour was much more turbid, leaving the ale hazed over.
S: The nose is lager malty, bready with an excess of fruity sharpness. Both pale and caramel malts add to the breadiness.
T: The lager is nice and chewy, very dense. Breadiness is full, pale and caramel flavors driving it. A sweetness, from the concentrated malts, is fruit-driven with green apples and grapss matching the breads. Hops appear on the back side, light but bitter enough to peak through the sweet body. A nice lager that is very clean.
M: The mouthfeel is sweet and bready, plenty thick and filling. The booze isn't strong but you can taste it loitering around.
D: 3F has a thing for good lagers. I'd be happy with another bomber.

Appearance: Pours a clear pale golden color; two inches of foam cap the liquid and leave streaks of lace as the liquid is consumed
Smell: Bready and grainy, with a faint grassy note
Taste: Very clean, with a faint taste of bread and grain; the grassy hops are muted and the beer finishes as it started, crisp and clean
Mouthfeel: Light body with crisp carbonation
Overall: A beer to show the macro lager drinkers what they should be drinking

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. Needed a drink while cooking for Thanksgiving. Beer pours a hazy golden light orange color with a finger of pure white soapy head. Head dissipates quickly leaving a little light lacing. Lots of fine carbonation streaming up from the bottom. Pretty typical looking lager, though I would expect a clear color instead of the haze.
Nose is noble hops, floral and slightly grassy with a lightly toasted grain and biscuit malt backbone. Some fruity esters come up as it warms a little, bubble gum flavor.
Taste follows the nose lightly bitter noble hops, mostly floral with a light herbal and earthiness. Then it's mainly grain and biscuit malts, lightly sweet through to a clean and lightly dry finish. Some lingering floral hops, lightly on the tongue and a bit of the fruity ester flavor on the back of the tongue.
Light body, crisply carbonated and easy to drink. Perfect refreshment while in a hot kitchen.

Great looking tall dense head on a clear light golden body.
The aroma is really biscuit like, although i did eat biscuits and honey for dinner, but that was over an hour ago, so i am fairly certain that it is the beer i am picking up. It smells like a old world noble hopped beer, with an aroma that always personally makes me think of a gravel road though a field in the dry summer, i am on these a lot, and noble hops trigger that connection in my head. Call me odd.
In true Three Floyds fashion, this beer is heavily hopped. Clean and earthy, noble hops abound, and a touch of citrus adds some brightness. Biscuit and grains, a pinch of spice.
I really am getting into this beer, i know it's a week fresh, picked it up delivery day, and it's really tasty. It really hits that noble hop spot when it is itching, and i will be buying packs of this often.

Got from ummagum after his brewery tour in early July. Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass. No dating info but was just released in June so fresh. It was a hazy golden yellow color. Good carb streams and a little bit of quick sliding lace. It had an average sized off-white head that dissipated into a thin collar and some wisps in center.
The aroma was crisp with mainly noble hops and a little bit of caramel malt. Good aroma especially for lager which usually doesn't do much for me. The taste followed the aroma. Nice and crisp with good hop feel and spice. This style will never hit the top of the ratings for me but this one is the best I've had in it. Very refreshing and goes down easy while still giving a good touch of flavor.
Overall, a surprisingly good beer for me since I generally don't really find much flavor in this style. 3F's did it right and nailed the aroma and flavor. Highly recommend.
Rotation: not available here. Not sure if one-off brew or not. If it was here, it would be worth a bomber or two (no six pack option) in the summer.

Acquired via trade...thanks Josh for picking up this brewery only release. 22 ounce bottle poured into a SA perfect pint glass. No abv or bottling info is given. Cool artwork on the front that reminds me of the cover of Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes.
A-Pours a semi-hazy straw yellow. It has a fairly scant offwhite head. Some visible bubbles can be seen breaking the top. Not the best looking pils; I found it to be a tad too hazy and the head too small.
S-Lots of noble hops when cracked and they stand oput throughout the session. There is also some biscuity malt that is noticeable. As it warms it takes on a citurus/lemon aroma.
T-The noble hops that were so evident in the nose are quite present. It has a tad bit of a musty flavor at first that goes away. The lemon in the nose is detected in the back of my mouth. There is a slight level of bitterness in between sips. As it warms the malt brings out more sweetness in the beer. This is one that is best served at a cooler temperature.
M-Medium bodied with crisp carbonation. I found it to be dry upfront, sweet in the middle, and finishing with a nice crisp bite. The sweetness lingers in between sips.
D-I found it to be a tad too sweet, but it was still an easy drinker. Dare I say it is a lawnmower beer from 3F?
Glad I got to try this one. I found it to be an easy sipping beer that is a nice change from their bigger beers. This would be a good keg beer for a gathering of friends.

A- Gold in color and slightly hazy, more than I would prefer. Thin white head that becomes patchy with time. No lacing can be seen.
S- Toasted sweet malt with an underlining grainy character. Clean and crisp lager character. Bread and biscuit lie beneath throughout.
T- Very much follows the taste. A sweet toasted malt in the front. The clean crisp lager character with a grainy cracker taste towards the middle. A floral hop taste emerges in the middle and progresses to the finish. Little to no bitterness in the finish with a lingering malt sweetness.
M- Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Sweet finish.
O- Although not quite at the session beer range, a great lager you can have a couple of and not feel too bad. Not quite as good at Dortmunder Gold, but in the same ballpark.

Had a mug of this at the FFF Brewpub on 12/17/11. Review from notes.
Looks and acts like a lager in the mug. Lots of fluffy head over a straw golden body. Smells have a pilsner tone for sure: biscuity and buttery malt along with grassy and hay smells from the hops. Spiciness is involved too.
It is very crisp and clean when tasting. The flavors are kept light by an active body. Finishes somewhat dry with an accumulating bitterness from the low-acid hops.
A great lager option that I'd turn to in the Summer if it were available to me year-round.
Serving type: on-tap
