Barley wine, Wheat wine, and now Oat wine. A good pour gets three fingers of resilient and rocky tan head that is super tight. Hangs around a long time and leaves a swiss cheese like lace as it fades. Body is a mahogany amber in tone. Nose is sweet with dark over ripe fruit, dark rich vibrant malts which are rustic in style. A hint of alcohol and hops are in the smell also. With first sip I get a jammy fruit sweetness like fruit schnapps. Hops act to balance the sweetness and end up adding a sappy marmalade like feel. Flavor is so interesting and unique. I would love to see how this beer ages in 2 or 3 years, but it is just so expensive at $16 a bottle. Mouthfeel has a nice mingling of the dark fruits and hops which is attractive. Wonderfully drinkable at 10.4% alcohol.

22oz into a goblet

A - Pours clear, bubbly. An amber to brown color. Brown head formation is light but sticks around with a little bit of lacing.

S - Incredibly malty, caramel, toffee, some sweet and floral notes. Very sweet profile overall. No boozy notes detected, a little surprising.

T - Starts off sweet and smooth, nice and malty. Hefty body. Mid-stream brings in an interesting citrus profile as well as just a little resin. This beer has had alot of time to mature. Finishes smooth and sweet, more of the toffee. Alcohol warmth is very noticable as it sits on the palette.

M - As noted above, this beer is very full bodied. Very sticky, very sweet, Alcohol hotness is very noticeable. carbonation is light.

O/D - A very good beer, the maltiness really melds together. The hopping is down, but thats probably because this sat in the cellar for way too long. If they made it again, I would buy it.

Sampled a 22oz Bomber on 5.2.2012

Appearance- Poured from the Bomber with a thin white head, which quickly receded to a haze layer and collar. The body was a crystal clear (filtered) orange-amber color, and exhibited some light bubble trains up the sides of the glass.

Aroma- A big, bold nose comprised of light fruits (pear, white grape, peach) over a big malty backbone. Not a bunch of complexity here, but it's big, bold, and inviting.

Flavor- A nice replicate of the nose-- big malts and light fruits hit the palate first. Some mild nuttiness is presented on the midpalate, presumably from the oats. And the finish is a bit on the mild side, with a brief echo of the light fruit again.

Mouthfeel- Surprisingly thin in body. For a beer called OatGOOP at 10.4% ABV, I would have expected a much fuller, chewier body. This was a bit disappointing. Carbonation was nice and mild; complimentary to the mouthfeel. Surprisingly there was no heat from the EtOH.

Overall- This beer is dangerously drinkable. In a blind tasting I would have guessed this one to weigh-in at 7 or 8% ABV. A good beer. I wouldn't turn it away if it were offered to me again.

Poured 5/1/12.

Nice head with a light amber color. Sticky foam. The aroma is light with oat sweetness and some hops. Very sweet, light malt smell. Nice. The flavor is very light for such a strong beer, with a taste like a sweet wort, followed by some grain astringency and some earthy hops. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected and finishes fairly dry. Overall this was an interesting and enjoyable beer, but not something I would particularly get excited about again.

A - Dark burnt orange body with a thin white head that fades quickly to a swirl with collar. Very brief spots of lacing.

S - Sweet citrus, kumquat, apricot, a little heat, sour bitter orange skin. A full package.

T - Follows the nose to a tee, plenty of different flavours to savour. Nice blend of bitter, sweet and sour.

M - Full bodied, quite syrupy, low to moderate carbonation.

O - Nice example of the style. Outrageously expensive bottle but enjoyed thoroughly on a warm summer's evening out in the back yard with the wife.
