Served in a tulip at Three Floyds 1/2/09.
A: Served a hazy, pale-gold color with two-fingers of bright-white head. Multiple rings of lace left behind in the glass.
S: Aromas of fruity and spicy yeast, toasted grains, cardamom, spices, and a touch of dark fruit.
T: Interesting aroma combination of yeast and spices coupled with toasted malt, clove, figs, and floral hops.
M: Smooth with a peppery middle and a finish that becomes dry and toasty.
D: Very nice. Smell and taste lean more towards the dry and toasty side of the scale that the tangy and fruity side. Enjoyable.

On tap at Three Floyds and served in a tulip. This poured a lightly hazy golden with a two-finger thick head of fluffy off-white foam that quickly settled. Hardly any lacing. The aroma included dried orange peel, cloves, sugar-coated figs, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor was also spicy and clovey. Lots of dried orange peel and fruity esthers. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and very drinkable for the ABV. Not bad, but I have had much better Tripels.

On tap at the brew pub.
A: Nice golden hue served in a footed glass. The head was 1/2 finger in size nice and fluffy. Good retention is show with some nice lace noted.
S: Wonderful spicey aromas up front with lots of clove, ginger, and yeast. Hints of apple and pear as well. Very aromatic.
T: A solid triple. Good mix of spice, yeast, and fruit. Rather good.
M: Medium in body, smooth, with snappy carbonationl
D: Pretty good, one of the few beers on the menu with the proper serving size.

Had on-tap at Three Floyds 12/12/08 into a tulip.
Poured a nearly clear golden color with a three-quarter inch white head that sank down to a skim and left minimal lacing.
The aroma was somewhat sweet but the spice character dominated more. The dried figs and ginger were apparent but subtle and blended nicely with the phenols that the yeast produced.
The taste was basically everything that I expected from the aroma but better. It started with a slight sweetness but that was quickly overtaken by a phenolic character that was enhanced by the figs and ginger. Finish left a nice linger of the spiciness and also a slight citrusy lemon hop flavor.
Mouthfeel was medium-light in body, somewhat creamy, quite easy to drink.
While it was not the best tripel I've ever tasted it was damn good in it's own right. The spice character was unique and really worked well.
