A throwback historical ale brewed when English IPA's were hopped up to last the long voyage from England to Colonial troops in India, using English malts, English hops, English yeast and aged slightly on toasted oak for a 19th century taste.

on tap at Bodega yesterday.
Pour is golden with a small white head. The smell is so complex. Earthy, medicinal hops come to mind, but then theres the oak that kind of kills the off flavors that I normally wouldnt like. The taste follows suit. Very balanced between the slightly sweet malt, strong hop flavors, and spicy oak characteristics.
I think the best part is that it goes down like water. I want planning on chugging it, but it went down so smooth with such a nice sweet smooth body that I didnt realize I was ready for another beer.
