Saw this on the "new bottles" menu at the Map Room and i got it despite the price because i'd never seen it before (later i saw it at Sam's too). poured red with a bit of brown and translucent...massive white head. crisp, lightly malty and all-spice odor. some sour apples on the nose too. taste is very smooth, nicely hoppy. some slight apple and cinnamon tastes, small amount of hops. It's a very nice lager...not really an octoberfest but i always keep in mind that "it's not normal". High marks for this guy overall...reminds me a bit of Brooklyn Lager with less hops, which is weird because it's not at all the same style. highly drinkable and very refreshing. way to go map room.

Thanks to my friend Garrett for getting this 22 oz. bottle (with no freshness date) from the bar at 3F's. He drove from Cincinnati to check the place out (That jerk!).
Appearance: Served into a traditional pint glass at around 45 degrees. Its a thick, cloudy & unfiltered brownish-red brew with 1/4 inch light tan foam head. Good foam retention with thick lacing.
Smell: Earthiness, pumpkin, toasted malts and Belgium candies.
Taste: Non-typical, semi-dry (almost stale) and earthy beer. Medium-bodied brew with pumpkin being the most predominant flavor.
Drinkability: In a word, different. Hits you tongue dry and earthy with pumpkin and all-spice. Serious Earthy tones in the middle and finishes with candied sweets.
This one was hard to review lots of things going on with it. I was expecting a rich Oktoberfest beer, but drinking it was completely different. I recommend trying it (if you can get it!)....

Tan head malty (sweet) nose. Smooth mouth. Malty slightly sweet taste with good hop presence to balence out the sweetness. Quite drinkable. I was impressed with this one due to the fact that I found it so drinkable. This style is not usually my cup of tea...
Tasted at the brewery on tap.
