This was from a Growler poured in 10/23/11

This poured a color that slightly reminds you of apple juice, with a nice 2 finger thick frothy head, it doesn't disappoint in it's looks. The smell of fresh reisiny hops errupts upon opening and continues to flow from the glass. I had very citrusy notes at first then a strong pine note with small sweet malt hints at the end. The taste was no let down in it's follow up I the nose, it had all the same components as the smell from oily hop presence to the citrusy notes, the malt bill in this is nice and medium bodied and holds up to the hops but doesn't take away from them at all. The mouthfeel is nice and lively, good carbonation and a nice dry finish that makes one long for another sip. Overall id say if you can get a good deal on a grolwer of it's amazing, if you have never tried it, it's worth the price of a fresh bomber, but on any type of regular basis, it's too pricey like most 3 Floyds beers, drinkability is amazing, one that if given enough time a Growler would be awesome to finish in one sitting.

Poured from a bomber bottle into a tulip glass.

Appearance: Had an apricot tinge. Nice white head that dissipated fairly quickly. Foam retention on glass once I started to drink it.

Smell: Had a strong citrus orange smell with pine notes. Smelled strongly of alcohol.

Taste: Quickly took over my palate with a strong floral presence. Juicy at first and then dries out. Taste similar to drinking orange juice, but with a strong alcohol after taste.

Mouth feel: Strong alcohol presence makes your tongue tingle at first, but goes down smoothly leaving a slight burn.

Got this beer for my birthday from a friend. I enjoyed drinking it and would rate it as a 4.

Appearance: Pours a deep golden apricot…fluffy, cloud-like off white head formed and a finger width remains…dense color, not overly transparent, though I can see tons of bubble action when I look close…good looking brew…(4/5)

Smell: Got earthy/piney hops aroma as I poured it, very hop forward…when I stick my nose in the glass, I get tons of (mouthwatering!) robust earthy/piney/musty/resinous hops mixed with strong caramel/toffee malt aromas…sweet and some mild citrus (orange, mandarin)…it’s nice, but I fear the hops have lost a bit of life over the past few months, leaving the sweet caramel/toffee malt to dominate…side note, I definitely get a little bubblegum, tropical fruitiness from the inside of the bottle…(3.75/5)

Taste: Much like the nose, wet hops abound…tons of robust/musty/earthy/piney/resinous hops flavor up front followed by sweet caramel malts…the flavor is somewhat robust but not overly exotic or dynamic…this brew certainly doesn’t have the same life that I normally find from FFF…it has their classic sweet/caramel malt flavor, but lacks in the zesty citrus flavors that I normally expect from them…I do get a touch of lemony citrus bitterness, but it’s faint and certainly could be more…rather straight forward and somewhat plain…(3.5/5)

Mouthfeel: Medium body…light to medium carbonation brings a hint of lemon/citrus bitterness…chewy, smooth, a touch dry in the finish…the feel is really the liveliest part of the brew and saves it from mediocrity…(4/5)

Overall: This is a good brew, but I’m sadly thinking it’s lost a step over the last 4 months as Broo Doo wss bottled in October...the hops flavor is not zesty, lively or fresh and barely hangs on to the sweet caramel malts that dominate the flavor at this point…it’s good and drinkable, but just leaves my palate wanting…I’ve had other IPA’s (Clown Shoes Supa Hero being one) that were a bit aged, caramel malt dominant, but where the citrus hops, or any hops for that matter, still were apparent and influential in the overall flavor…I’m a huge fan of Three Floyds and would put that brewery up there with the best and maybe only second to Bell’s (born and raised in MI), but this brew was a bit disappointing…I wouldn’t recommended rushing to the store in Michigan City, IN where I got this from, but I would try it again next fall when it was a lot fresher…(3.5/5)

Appearance: Copper orange color. About a finger worth of head on a pretty decently aggressive pour. Decent lacing on the glass. Not as much carbonation throughout as I would have hoped. May be attributed to slightly thicker texture.

Smell: Definitely getting a lot of the wet hops here. Really bright and full of tropical citrus. A very little bit of the alcohol is picked up here, but only adds a layer of complexity rather than being offensive. Just a ton of bright hops.

Taste: Some of the wet hops were going due to this being a Fall release but the overall character was still very strong. The front of this beer is orange peel, sweet hops, caramel, and bright fruits. The wet hops really carry the body of this beer. Hops just blast the palette and really do some damage in a wonderful way. Three Floyds has a very distinct hop crisp feeling which I believe is prevalent in all their beer, namely Alpha King, Gumballhead, and Pride and Joy. Its almost a honey tartness but seems to be their calling card.

Mouthfeel: Really does a number on the palette. Dryness from the hops also plays a role with a molasses caramel sweetness.

Overall: If you blind folded me and gave me this brew I feel like I could identify it as a Three Floyds brew. A lot of their characteristics shine here. Certainly worth a try if you see a bottle around.

A: Golden brown and lightly toasted looking. 1in head initially dies to .25in light and foamy head with a slight green tint in light.

S: Faint wet hop scent, fresh smelling.

T: Fruity wep hop character. Hops are not overwhelming. Well balanced and easy to drink.

M: Light carbonation. Body is light but with a deceptive thickness that is masked by the beer's drinkability. Pleasant aftertaste.

A-Pours a slightly hazy orange w/ a nice finger or so of head; excellent lacing and carbonation.
S-Extremely fresh, hoppy aroma w/ strong notes of sweet pineapple and underlying pine, hint of malts and floral.
T-Flavor has grapefruit, light hops and sweet crystal malts, moderate bitterness, and dry pine on the backside.
M-Medium bodied, ending slightly dry and remarkably clean.
O-Very nice! It stuck to my mouth and left a very nice aftertaste. It did finish a bit bitter then expected; a very nice IPA by the Floyds!

2012 vintage poured into FFF Teku glass

Pour: This is a beautiful dark copper-orange color that is hazy. There is a 2 finger off white head with significant lacing evident. Tons of tiny bubbles rising to the surface.

Smell: Wow what a huge hit of sweet candy like hops hit at first. Very typical of FFF with the tropical notes of orange, grapefruit, mango and pineapple. This is quickly followed by a resin/grass and floral hops.

Taste: Interesting as the taste has more resinous hops than the nose would suggest. Pine at first but I also am getting the tropical somewhat with orange and grapefruit. A bit more bitter than I remember other FFF offerings to be but quite good.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. This is oily and slick covering the palate with a bit of stickiness.

Overall: Once again FFF has met my expectations with Broo Doo. This is once again one of their yearly releases that I will seek out to enjoy again.

650 mL bottle poured into a chalice.

Appearance - Hazy orange body with an ample white head. Sticky foam clings inside the glass.

Smell - Musty pine hops. Resiny with some grapefruit notes. Lacks the hop presence of other Three Floyds IPAs.

Taste - Similar in hop profile to the nose, with a cracker malt flavor. Bitter in the finish and dry.

Mouthfeel - Medium carbonation and fairly bitter, but still easy drinking.

Overall - While better than most IPAs, it's a little disapppointing. Looking for a juicier hop profile, but this falls just slightly flat compared to regular release from Three Floyds.

Pours an opaque peach color. The head is a bright white, finger thick of different sized bubbles. Retention is slight, and a slight lace is left behind.

The smell is out of this world. The wet hopped beers you can smell from across the room and this is no different. Amazing citrus smell, pineapple. Slight orange peel and pine. Faint malt scent hides in the background.

The taste is as good as the smell. Really, as good a tasting IPA as I can think of. Extremely hop forward, but with what I'm guessing are Cascade hops, it's the way to go. Pine and citrus flirt with the taste buds. Just enough malt and yeast to keep the hops in check.

For an IPA, it's extremely soft on the palate. A split second of sweet followed by high, but quality bitterness. The bitterness lasts into the swallow, but is welcome and never overpowering. Resiny pine coats the tongue and never lets go.

Overall, it's as good an IPA as there is. Sure, it's bitter, but it's supposed to be...however, it's bitter just the way it supposed to be and that makes it an amazing beer overall. I accidentally bought a second bottle by mistake...so glad I did.

A - It's golden amber in color. I have about an inch of off white head.

S - I could smell this bottle across the kitchen when I tossed the cap in the trash. Resiny pine crept towards my nostrils. Once I poured it the mango and tropical fruits became apparent.

T - It starts with mango and ends with pine.

M - Moderate with adequate carbonation.

O - This beer reminds me of Sculpin. I is similar but has enough subtle differences to be enjoyable on a different level. Good stuff.

22 oz bottle into a FFF .5L glass. Thanks HopsMatt!

A - Pours a hazy dark amber/orange body. Two finger off white head forms and settles into a thick cap and edging. Fantastic lacing and retention. Simply a gorgeous beer.

S - Cotton candy sweet hops lead into some grass, grapefruit and herbal bitterness. Plenty of caramel malt. Its so beyond tropical that it comes off as candy like. Such an intoxicating aroma.

T - Sweet mango candies, juicy grapefruit, caramel mats, and pine. A light bitterness cuts through all the sweetness. Insanely delicious.

M - Medium bodied and creamy, spot on carbonation. Alcohol is not noticeable. Super drinkable.

O - I think I just found my new favorite we hop ale. I wasn't expecting much considering its age, but its drinking phenomenally. Just a candy sweet cotton candy/grapefruit bomb.

Appearance: golden bodied beer with 2 fingers of white head. Lacing is nice and thick coating the glass.

Smell: Pine and grapefruit. Cracker and bready malts. Citrus and tropical fruits. Fresh juicy smelling hops!

Taste: moderate bitterness. Pine, grapefruits, and orange peel. Fresh and clean tasting hops. Its almost polarizing to me because I almost feel like all 3 Floyds hoppy beers have the same hop profiles except the zombie dust that is...

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Any really good hoppy beer by 3 Floyds. Nothing that standouts out to me as special, but a really solid wet hop ale. I will take a 4pk Founders Harvest Ale any day because it tastes better and has a way better price point and you get twice a much beer for half the cost.

1 pint 6 oz brown bomber style bottle. FFF label consists of artwork with a crazy looking troll with hops for hair. A princess and unicorn set off a rainbow background that's nothing but FFF in style. Poured into a nonic style pint glass.

A - hazy golden orange in color. Excellent frothy head that's a shade of white. Leaves the glass with a thick sticky ring of lace throughout the experience.

S - fantastic wet hop resin. Mostly citrus with big hits of floral and pine. A fairly oily hop aroma with a good malt backbone. Whiffs of orange, grapefruit, mango, grassy pine, and light pineapple with hints of sweet caramel.

T - big fresh hop flavor that starts out with a light floral flavor. Big bursts of citrus and pine resin quickly follow. Notes of grapefruit, lemon, pine resin, orange peel, and a variety of tropical fruits. Some pale malt with a touch of caramel sweetness balance the flavor in a class manner. Finish has a crisp bitterness with hits of spice.

M - smooth medium body that's thickness allows for a creamy and easy mouthfeel.

O - one of the best harvest ales using the wet hop technique I've ever experienced. Scratch that.. It may just be the best I've experienced. It's really a top shelf ipa and has all the class to leave you thirsting for more. I dont think FFF can do hops wrong and im to the point of claiming they dont do anything wrong .It falls in very well with a great lineup of hoppy brews from a great brewery. It's something I'll enjoy every year around this time.

A: Pours a semi hazy apricot color with a thick and frothy white head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly to a thick collar that leaves a ton of soapy lace down the glass.

S: Floral and piney, there is a nice underlying tropical fruit smells as well. The hoppy scents rest on a toffee and oaty malt backbone.

T: Bitter pine up front and throughout. Huge initial burst of resinous hops, there is some light floral notes and a kiss of citrus. Light grapefruit and a ton of sweet oat malt on the finish.

M: Medium bodied with a sticky mouthfeel. Nice medium-high carbonation level and sweet/oily hop finish.

O: Much more resinous and bitter than the nose would suggest. Overall it's a nice wet hop/harvest ale, but I'd pick up a Founders Harvest Ale any day.

Very inviting aroma of pineapple and grapefruit with some dank pine sap.

Juicy pineapple, grapefruit and orange peal dominate the taste with some dank hops. Keith Sweat... Wet!

Medium body with moderate carbonation. This bomber is disappearing REAL quick. Very easy drinking

Overall, a fantastic harvest ale. Wet, dank, juicy and very easy drinking. Fantastic

A- Pours a cloudy orange color with a half finger of a white colored head. The head dissipates slowly.

S- A real nice smelling IPA. Lots of citrus and floral notes on the aroma. Grapefruit, orange and mango are most notable in the smell.

T- Starts off bitter, with piney hops shining through in the taste more than any. Some citrus is there as well though. Finishes with some sweet malts.

M- Medium bodied, bitter and hoppy with a dry finish.

One of the better wet-hopped IPAs I've had this season.

Thanks to Pmoney for this one

App- I liked this color. It was almost a pure orange and when you look at it, it was almost a clear peach like color in the center. A small 1/2" head that faded pretty quickly and only had a couple dots of cling on the side of the glass.

Smell- It was fairly sweet on the nose, with a bit of werthers original candy and then went into a good hoppy note with some cream and a bit of a paired earthy grass note. Overall, a nicer aromatic beer that didnt go overboard with a giant hop kick or a malt bomb.

Taste- Its a very nice IPA. Its one of the better wet hop beers that I have had. It took away some of that large caramel bite that some have and instead tamed down the earthiness and went with a more citrus, sweet and creamy hop flavor. A good amount of balance to it and fairly hidden 7% makes it quite enjoyable.

Mouth- A pretty solid medium body with a good medium creamy carbonation on the back. The finish is the creamy hops and a tinge of residual booze.

Drink- I thought it was good. As I said the flavors work well together but dont really compete all that much with eachother. The more I drank the creamier it became and then finsished it rather quickly. I would say as I did before. Best wet hop I've had.

I got a 22oz bottle of this from Woodman’s West in Madison, WI in November 2012 for $8.99.

This pours a clear, copper amber color with a fluffy off-white head. The scent is rather strong with the scent of hops indicating a bitter/crisp taste lies ahead. The taste is rich with hops! Initially you get waves of yeast, banana, and bread tones that eventually evolves into a bitter, crisp finish. Texture is great as is the complex taste as if I would expect anything less from FFF.

Poured from bomber into Duvel tulip out of fridge. Let stand for a few minutes before drinking.

A: Cloudy orange with a thin white head that lingers. Pretty classic appearance and am excited to get into this.

S: A lot of earthy hops with a decent malt backbone showing through as well. I have to imagine this smells a bit more hop-forward when fresher, but I'm still impressed.

T: The hops I smelled aren't coming out as much as I had hoped. I'm getting a good amount of bitterness, but the sweetness of the malt seems to be taking over a bit. Again, a fresher bottle would I'm sure warrant a different taste.

M: A well-done aspect of the beer. Drinks very smooth and the 7% ABV is well hidden.

O: I had high expectations for this one as I've loved most everything I've had from FFF. Not a bad beer by any means, but a far cry from Dreadnaught in the IPA category.

Had this on 2012-11-09 in Danville, KY

A - Pretty clear orange with a 2-finger off-white head that fades quickly and leaves just a little lacing.

S - Lovely. TONS of fragrant pine, very dank, very floral, and some citrus. A big, appealing aroma for sure.

T - Again, plenty of pine, which I quite like. Followed by some moderately sweet and lightly roasted malt, orange flesh then orange zest. The sweet flesh and increasingly bitter zest linger long into the finish, where a bit of alcohol makes an appearance. There's also a nice, spicy hop bud/vegetal flavor impregnating the whole experience.

M - Medium body and carbonation yield a substantial feel. It's resinous and fairly prickly. Definitely a feel I like in an IPA.

O - It knocks you over the head more than some wet hopped IPAs but sometimes I like out-of-balance, wake-up-your-taste-buds-in-a-big-way experience. Not as perfect as Zombie Dust but certainly equal to highly-ranked peers in the wet hop IPAs.

bomber poured into my FFF teku glass.

a - pours amber in color with a pinky or so of coarse, cream colored head. after calming i get a thin film and thick chunks of lacing in the glass.

s - strawberry, tangerine, raspberry, grass, toasted bread. smells like beer candy!

t - bready with a resinous, piney slap to the back of the tongue. has notes of grapefruit, herbs, and a subdued honey like sweetness, but sadly, none of the awesomeness found in the nose. finishes very dry.

m - medium in body with adequate carbonation. co2 profile is a little on the coarse side though.

o - a solid beer and quite enjoyable, but the nose got my hopes up just before the taste smacked them back down. gives other fresh hop ales a run for their money, but i think i prefer founder's harvest ale over this. worth seeking out though.

22oz bottle thanks to thebigredone. Poured into FFF pint glass. Weird label for a beer, but I don't judge a beer by it's label.

A- Pours a nice slightly brown yellowish golden with about a finger's worth of frothy white head. Nice carbonation of consistently rising small bubbles.

S- Very fresh greeny hops dominate the aroma profile mixed with some pine, floral accents, and light caramel malts lurking in the background. A little bit above average aroma strength.

T- Again greeny hops that have a little bit of a pine taste balanced nicely with light caramel/toffee malts. Finishes with a light bitterness and even more greeny hops that linger as an aftertaste for awhile.

M- Very smooth and drinkable, nice carbonation, goes down very easily.

O- This was a fantastic wet hop and one of my favorite beers from Three Floyds. This is exactly what a wet hop should taste like. Very fresh green hops like they were just picked, very nice aroma, awesome taste, and very easy to drink. If you like very fresh greeny hops then I highly recommend this beer.

Three Floyds Broo Doo pours an deep orange color with about a finger of head. It smells of citrus, grassy hops, but not as intense as I thought it would be. The taste are mouthfeel are really good. A thicker body adds to the sweetness of the malt with nice bitterness to balance it all out. Overall another winner from FFF.

Poured an amber-peach color, fairly effervescent, with a fizzy white head; just a bit of retention and lacing. Nice fresh hops in the nose, citrus and pineapple. Taste was dominated by fresh juicy hops, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, fresh-cut grass, and a solid bready malt base in the background for just the right amount of sweetness to take the edge off of the hop bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation. This was a well-done IPA indeed; not amazing, but just overall solid and drinkable. I'd definitely go back for it again.
