A light golden colored Franconian style Helles Lager. With a slightly sweet malt body, a noble hop profile and a crisp finish this beer is as traditional as we’ll ever get.

Review from notes made last September.
Gorch Frock is a solid helles lager, malty, bready, clean, and Continental hops used in a balanced way (particularly for Three Floyds). Easily drinkable, would be easy to have a few of these over the course of any evening. Not sure I'd go out of my way to search for, then pay $6 for a 22oz bomber of this, though.
Pours a 1cm tall head of clean white bubbles, small and medium in size, with average retention. Lacing is above average, a mixure of thick lines and dots. The body is a toasted orange color, slightly hazy. Light turns the beer a bright, pale, yellow-orange. Carbonatoin is visible, substantial, rising from the bottom of the glass.
Aroma is sweet, clean, malty, griany, bready with hints of lemongrass, verbena, and a bit flowery. Straightforward, but modestly complex and pleasing.
Tasting opens with light malty sweetness that has elements of bread and grain; some hop-influenced lemongrass and verbena, too. Mid-palate of balanced graininess and sweetness with Continental hop bitterness that is a bit flowery, but also lemongrass-like and slightly grapefruity. Back of palate finds an increase in lemon hop or yeast esters and bitterness, subduing the malt sweetness considerably. Aftertaste is of lingering mild bitterness and malt graininess.
Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with non-prickly medium-low levels of carbonation. The carbonatoin creates an initially fizzy, then smooth and cremay overall mouthfeel. Finishes dry, with just a little stickiness remaining on the lips.
