Style | ABV
American Pale Ale (APA) |  5.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round. bottle (565), on-tap (55), growler (6), cask (6)

Notes:
5.0% ABV, 30 IBUs - This beer is 3 Floyd’s American “Mild” Ale. With a more assertive hop profile that British Milds and a relatively low alcohol content this is a great session beer that still has Pale Ale characteristics. Pride and Joy is a golden color with a fruity nose and a light caramel sweetness to balance the crisp finish. A truly refreshing ale that drinks easily.

I poured this 12 oz. bottle into an English pint glass.

A: White two-finger head diminishes into a long lasting, creamy lace; color is light honey, there are continuous tiny streams of carbonation.

S: Abundant sweet malt and pine/citrus hops, a grassy note, and also a tiny bit of honey.

T: The tastes follow the aromas quite nicely: there is plenty of sweet malt, grapefruit, orange, and herbal (pine/grass) notes; the finish is mellow for an APA, and I detect some lemon and crisp herbal notes, though not long-lasting as I expected. Overall a very tasty package.

M: Creamy, abundant carbonation, floats on the tongue.

D: For an APA, this is stands out as full of flavor without destroying your taste buds. Sessionable.

On tap at The Rocking Horse in Logan Square. Appearance Pale golden with a fingers worth of off white head that dissipates quickly. Nose Slight grassy notes with floral teases. Hops present but not hugely noticeable. Taste quite mild with a touch of hop and dry finish. Delivers exactly what's advertised here very mild with a hop punch and surprisingly floral. More like fresh hop water following the lead of concur water with a hint of bitter elderflower. Medium bodied with a dry finish which makes new any more and more. Overall, a great session and first beer at dinner. I am not sure if all of the dipa and iipas I have had are taking a till on my palate but I truly am enjoying these session pales. Cheers.
