Thanks, kind of, to whomever it was that brought this to this weekend's tasting. Never heard of Beachwood nor this beer. 22 oz. bomber sampled out.
Pour is feisty, burgeoning mocha, enough that I wonder what's wrong with the beer. Nose is bat-outta-hell coffee or a metric tons of roast, no telling which - no malt, nothing else. Hmmm.
Tovarish isn't a good beer. Stale Folger's blankets the palate & assaults the senses for no good reason. Whatever else might be going on in the beer, it's covered up by this thin, nasty, cheap, aged coffee taste. Blech. Maybe an ounce plus & I'm headed for the sink.
Scanning the other reviews, I question whether this was even the same beer, or if we had a bad bottle, because it was drain-poured by everyone in the room. Straight-up terrible.

Thanks, Andrew.
Pitch black body topped by a finger of tan froth. A ton of mouthwatering espresso on the nose. Sweet and creamy with an earthy, pungent coffee aroma. Coffee is equally strong on the palate, largely earthy and ashy, a slight spicy note beneath. There's a nice chocolate and vanilla backbone with plenty of sharp roasted malt. Silky full body, strong espresso finish. Excellent beer.

On tap @ Bruery Provisions
Look: Black and opaque with a 1/8 inch tan head and zero retention and leaves behind a very nice coating on the glass
Smell: Chocolate and coffee but a bit lacking on the nose
Taste: Chocolate upfront but the winner is mid palate with the great coffee note takes over the back end carries some licorice and dark fruits. Very nice
Mouthfeel: Full body and low carbonation and just a bit sticky
Overall: I really really enjoyed this offering. I truly enjoyed the great coffee note the beer had to offer

On Tap
The Bruery Provisions
Orange, CA
Deep black throughout with a thin light brown head that leaves spots and spiderwebs of lace down the glass.
A big aroma of roasted malt and sharp, powerful coffee notes.
The flavor follows suit, with huge amounts of roasted malt character and big flavors of coffee and bitter espressos and chocolates. Complete.
A big, thick, viscous, luscious, creamy mouthfeel. The hallmark of this beer.
Delicious.

On tap at The Bruery Provisions in Orange, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a dark khaki head that settles to a film on the top of the beer. Random streaks of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt and rich espresso and espresso grounds. Taste is of dark roasted malt, espresso, and cocoa powder. There is a nice espresso bitterness that lingers on the palate after each sip. This beer has a medium body with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good stout with some really nice rich espresso aromas and flavors.
