On Tap
Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA
Clear copper and amber with a small near-white head that leaves the glass messy with lined lacing.
Herbal and piney aroma, along with some caramel sweetness, floral elements, and just a hint of booze.
The flavor is similar to the aroma, though with a fairly high, simple bitterness muddling up the other flavors. It's good, bitter, and somewhat simple.
Medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation.
Good, but somewhat simple and one-note. Not one of Julian's finest hop-forward beers.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a slightly murky honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, honey, malt, and some slight onion aromas as the beer warms. Taste is much the same but the onion comes out more in the taste. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp but slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the onion flavors I am getting are a bit off putting.

Served on-draught into a beer flute at Father's Office in Santa Monica. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were low given the brewery.
A: Pours a one finger head of white colour, fair thickness, fair cream, and average retention. Colour is a clear copper. No yeast particles are visible.
Sm: Piney, citrusy, and floral hops. A simple, mild strength aroma.
T: Piney, citrusy, watery, and floral. Hoppy. Not horribly malty. Simple for the style. Too watery, negatively impacting the balance and lending it a weak characteristic. It's built okay, but without any real layering, complexity, or subtlety. Meh.
Mf: Somewhat coarse. Wet. Adequately carbonated. Light. A bit too thin.
Dr: Drinkable but of limited quality. I wouldn't get it again. It's an imbalanced IPA, not taming its bitterness. The hops don't seem chosen with care, but rather dumped in haphazardly. Pricey for the low quality. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, including IPA fans.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing
Pours an orange color with a thick white head. Sweet caramel and bready malt up front. There are some citrusy and fruity hops too, though. Quite sweet with lots of caramel and brown sugar. Some hop flavor, a bit of citrus and pine and tropical fruit. A bit too sweet for me, overall, but good hop flavor.
