Bottle from the brewery, 12oz into a tulip.

Reddish orange, with a thin white head. Almost no retention, and the same case with lacing. Heavy Belgian yeast, fruity, slightly grainy and doughy and sweet malt character. Slight spice from the hops. Palate ha sweet doughy malt, spicy hops and a bittersweet finish. Full feel, alcohol is only partially disguised and the carbonation pops quite a bit on this one, even though it's not apparent on the pour. A nice Belgian golden strong, although this is tough to put back at when the spice and alcohol comes across too strong.

Single finger head with excellent lacing on a hazy to cloudy golden ad amber body. Aroma is sadly understated for the style with some Belgian yeast funk and banana citrus, little else. Flavors of banana, pear and pineapple citrus, Belgian yeast, herbal hops with the right amount of citrus and sweetness. Nice degree of Belgian character. Medium body and moderate carbonation. This is a nice one. Good Belgian style, doesn't wow you but still a nice brew.

Considered a Belgian golden ale; the beer is absolutely a nice golden hue; the lacing is solid, with a minor head; the beer smells fruity but still very strong and boozy; it's easy to taste the sugars in this beer; at 9.3%, it's serious business when it comes to consumption, and I think our waiter at the time (while totally overwhelmed w/ other patrons on a very busy Saturday) mistakenly poured me a pint of this when I had asked for a 4 ozer...no worries! This is a VERY strong offering in both flavor and alcohol.

Pours languidly into a tumbler glass, hard to generate much of a head, but there was about an eighth of an inch there momentarily. Foam quickly subsides, leaving a thin ring around the edges, no lacing. Tawny amber orange color, somewhat hazy.

Bubblegum and clove aromas, kind of a stereotypical "Belgian" aroma.

Spicy flavors, big on the phenolics, lasting clove in the aftertaste, low level pepper bitterness. Viscous body, low carbonation. Not a fan of the mouthfeel, a bit slick and coating, needs more carbonation. Overall not a total waste, it's not deeply flawed, just not appealing to personal taste. However i'm not sure about finishing it.

On tap at The Mark in South Bend on 8/10/12, served in a tulip.

Pour: Mostly clear golden, with two fingers white head. Slight lacing.

Smell: Light Belgian yeast. A hefty amount caramel malt.

Taste: Caramel malt, and light bready Belgian characteristics, but this beer is seriously lacking. When my gf tasted it, and she is no be slouch. her comment was "this tastes like regular beer" I unfortunately agreed.

Mouthfeel: A sipper, which is disappointing given its poor taste.

Overall: Not that good.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into tulip glass.

Pours a dark golden color. Steady waves of bubbles rising to surface, indicating higher carbonation. About a one finger white . head. Light lacing.

Interesting belgian yeast aromas comprise the nose. Certainly a little spicy and very earthy. Notes of banana and lemon as well. A good amount of caramel malt as well. Definitely different than most Belgian goldens.

Was expecting more like a Duvel, but got more of a tripel like beer. Very biscuity in its malt character. The yeast they use for this really brings out spiciness and some banana qualities. A bite of apple mixed in there too. An interesting mix of these flavors combine a very intense and fairly complex beer, although I'm honestly not sure how much I dug it. A decent amount of alcohol on the finish.

Medium body and a little bit heavy in carbonation. As far as drinkability goes, I will be sipping this beer for sure.

Love Greenbush's beers, but I would say this recipe needs to be revisited. I love the biscuity malt character. Some of the yeast characteristics were just overbearing in this beer and didn't necessarily complement the rest of it I thought. With each sip, I become more of a fan, but there is still something slightly off.

Bottle purchased at the taproom and shared with Jason upon arrival in Madison Heights.

A - A white, quick-dissolving, wispy head settles to a thin ring of bubbles. Hazy copper body with with visible carbonation streams present.

S - Phenolic and spicy, with notes of bandaid, apples, alcohol, sugary malt, and a touch of herbal hops that also have a faint vomit character.

T - Taste is superior, as the unpleasant bandaid and vomit flavors are thankfully gone. Mostly Belgian yeast, bread, a bit of candi sugar, and a lightly medicinal finish. More of a Belgian Amber than a Dark.

M - Smooth texture, medium-full body, lower carbonation, and some definite warming alcohol. No major issues, but does little to enhance the beer either.

D - A thoroughly mediocre Belgian Strong Ale that suffers from a mildly unpleasant aroma. I'd skip this offering until Greenbush gets a better handle on Belgian yeast.

Had on tap at Greenbush.

A- Poured a light hazed golden brown color with light amber hues. Half finger cream colored head shows low retention. Light spotty lace on the sides of the glass.

S- Aroma is very well put together. Belgian yeast gives a nice clove and light banana tone to this. Ripe fruits come out as well (grape, apple, and light pear). Candi sugar sweetness in the middle to ending. Hints of bready malt with hints of brown sugar. Alcohol comes through in the ending with it tingling the nose a little.

T- Bready like undertones throughout the beer. There is a nice underlying sweetness in the front with unfermented sugars mixing with light apple and pear. Light raisin notes mix with honey toward the middle. Alcohol shows up a little bit in the middle and comes through once again in the ending with a little more sharpness. Ending of the beer shows off the banana and clove which gives this a little more of a tripel feel.

M- Heavy mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little low for the style. Lighter fruits with candi sugar are left on the palate. Aftertaste is warming alcohol, banana, and hints of clove. Flavors were very well put together overall. No off flavors were present in the beer while I was drinking it. Heavy drying on the palate from the alcohol.

O- Overall this was a well put together beer. No one flavor dominated the other which made it clean and flavorful. Alcohol was somewhat heavy but it did not distract from the overall beer. Another good beer from Greenbush. Keep up the good work guys!
