A: Golden with a slight hue of ambery copper, bit white cap of foam that start to settle right away. Bright & clear with lots of bubbles. Some splotches of lace.

S: Basic wheat beer base. Raspberries for sure. I think they used the real thing – rounded with a fair bit of berry tartness. Good strength & pleasant fruit beer.

T: Grainy, pale, & slightly wheaty base. Raspberry seems very real – rounded, a tad bit of tartness and bite – and not all syrupy & cloying. Perhaps the barest hint of diacetyl. No hops.

M: A tad under medium body. Carbonation is a little bit over being balanced. Minimal sweetness or other textures but there is a little bit. Finish actually goes a tad drying & refreshing.

D: Not remarkable, but a very reasonable & drinkable raspberry fruit beer. Basic but tasty & very solid fruit beer.

341ml bottle poured into a 16oz pint glass.

A - Pours with a fizzy white head and clean copper hue with a pinkish tinge. No head retention, and no lacing.

S - Barley malt and mild tart raspberries. I'll give this one credit, this smells like actual fruit to me, and not an artificial flavor. Sort of like raspberry jam with 2-row and flaked wheat. The fruity character here is surprisingly pleasant and inviting.

T - Light malt upfront with just a moment of raspberry flavor in the finish before it disappears into an aftertaste of light bready malt, wheat, and barley. While the raspberries taste like actual raspberries, they feel a bit too sweet and not tart enough. Overall this is incredibly light with a refreshing feel and subtle fruitiness.

M - Light body with carbonation on the high end. Borders on fizzy, but nothing too inappropriate for the style I suppose.

D - Miles ahead of GIB's False Creek Raspberry mess, but an unspectacular beer nonetheless. I also appreciate the use of actual raspberries and having this beer actually reflect the profile of an ale to some extent. I basically just expected an artificially sweetened lager that would be consumed exclusively on the patios of Southern Alberta, but I can actually see myself trying this one again.

Red copper appearance that's slightly cloudy with a small amount of head leaving some lacing. Smell consists of raspberries, wheat, malt with a hint bread and peaches.

Taste consists mainly of raspberries along with a hint of malt, wheat, floral hops and bread. Very light tasting overall and bitter. Light bodied with low carbonation. Aftertaste is a longer dry berry taste.

Not a bad fruit beer, although the taste could use more of a kick to it (thought I would be blasted with berries), it's refreshing, drinkable and not to fruity. Worth a try.

Appearance: peach colored. Pours with little head, just a pop-like fizz. Really looks like peach spritzer. Kind of fitting, considering it's a refreshment brew.

Smell: Light and floral. Almost a rose and raspberry aroma. Not too over the top with the raspberries as there is definitely still a little malt in there to keep it smelling like beer.

Taste: Very light for an ale. Crisp and refreshing biscuity flavors dominated by the fruitiness of roses and raspberries. I appreciate the subdued nature of this raspberry ale as a lot of times, breweries put the flavors a bit over the top.

Mouthfeel: Good overall. A little prickly carbonation which lends itself well to the refreshment value of this beer. Again, not over the top so you're not burping every ten seconds while enjoying it.

Overall: I really like Wild Rose's interpretation of the WRaspberry Ale! Great refreshment value, and you aren't blown away by raspberry nectar. Top quality raspberry ale.

Purchased and brought as a gift.

Opened a fresh cold bottle.

Poured as expected, slighty hazey, slighty red.

Smell.>>Hmmm...no raspberry here, just a sourness, not a nice lambic sourness...

Taste: Ouch...I dont think this finished fermenting. Taste of corn and unfermented grains. Odd... The rapberry sourness does not work at all in this...

Mouthfeel is very odd as well, almost like there are starches hanging around...

Not impressed at all. I try to be positive, but i just can't drink this..down the drain....

Number three of six in a sampler pack... fruit beers aren't really my thing, but Wild Rose has impressed me so far. I'm eager to try this one on the first warm night of the year in Alberta, perfect timing.

Pours a cloudy, rosé-copper colour with a fizzy head that is in a hurry to leave, but leaves behind some lacing and a collar around the rim. Smell is of raspberries, i.e. a little sweet and a little sour. Not much else.

Now for the important part... very fizzy on the tongue, but beyond the carbonation there are some nice things going on in my mouth. Mostly raspberries and the slight tartness you'd associate with the fruit; also some malt sweetness in the front with a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel and light-body; very crisp and refreshing on a hot night.

I like this, even though the style is not one of my favorites. The raspberry flavour isn't obnoxious, but it's still the dominant one, and there isn't a lot else to taste past that. Probably won't get this again, but it's still worthy of a try if fruitbier is your thing.

Poured a 341-ml bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance - pale, very soft copper colour with a slightly cloudy appearance. No real head on the beer. Plenty of active carbonation.

Smell - light malts with a faint berry aroma.

Taste - fairly crisp, refreshing fruity malt flavour with the WR signature roast flavour, much more subtle than other offerings.

Mouthfeel - very poppy, with lots of carbonation. Very thirst-quenching.

Drinkability - this is the wrong time of year. A hot early summer day would be a great day for one of these on a picnic or something fun.

A - Pours a pale golden straw colour, finger of light fluffy head with mild retention and no real lacing.

S - Raspberries dominate the nose and comes off a bit sour. Some wheaty and bready malts also come through.

T - The raspberries take more of a back seat on this one coming through more on the finish. Some bitter lemon hops and sweet corn bread malts are also noticeable. Quite delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is nice, medium bodied and finishes nice and wet, leaving you wanting more.

D - I've had this several times, both on tap and in the bottle and it is definitely one of my favourites by Wild Rose. The raspberries are more subtle on the tongue, but its very refreshing and worthy to anyone looking for a sweet twist on their beer. Also, mixing half a Wraspberry Ale with a Brown Ave (aka Brown Berry), is quite tasty too!

A - bubbly, clear, and a mix of golden, pink, and white colours, short white head didn't retain much
S - strong grainy wheat malt smell, raspberry is very subtle
T - raspberry more pronounced than the smell, grainy wheat malts, and light floral hops
M - carbonation fills the mouth, but generally a thin watery feel
D - its thin quality makes it go down easy, the flavours are a little simple, not an outstanding drink but its easy drinkability makes it a good option to add to a session after you've had a few

A summer patio staple in the 3 hot months we get here in Alberta. Head and lacing are minimal, poured out of the bottle fading into next to nothing after a moment of agitation. Nose is, as its namesake would intend, smells mostly of fresh raspberry with perhaps a touch of citrus and banana, quite nice and non-artificial, yet not exciting. Taste and mouthfeel reflect the summer fruit ale style, taste is bold up front with raspberries, raspberries and more raspberries with a hint of biscuit-like malt bringing a beer flavor into the mix. Finish is grassy hops characteristic, makes you want another sip though nothing really fascinating. Overall an average fruit beer, well produced for the style, easy to pick up a six pack to introduce people to craft brewing or just kicking back on a hot summer day.

Thanks to Voonder for including this in a trade:

Pours clouded light golden with a thin head that fizzes away to a thin, isolated, swirling patch.

The smell is of light raspberry (perhaps a touch of banana?) Very light/soft. Inoffensive.

The taste is mild - some wheat dough with mild raspberry - at least raspberry is not syrupy or artificial, but it is not tart or forward, either. A very clean example of the style, with just a hint of raspberry (or even flavor, for that matter). It has a sweet finish, though balanced by a subtle bitterness.

Light-bodied. Pretty crisp.

A bit raspberry to a mild beer. Easy enough to drink - not too fizzy, sweet, or "artificial". Would be a decent "thirst-quencher" on a hot day.

I had a pint of this at a work 'function' at a pub last night, but, intermingled amongst a number of other drinks, all I can relate of it was that it tasted pretty good. Now, I've procured a bottle for a more formal imbibing...

It pours a medium golden hue, with a few fingers of white head, that falls way quite quickly, leaving no lacing to speak of. There is a wispy haze floating throughout the beer, noticeable when held up to the light. The aroma is very light, a slight whiff of raspberry, with a bit of malt. The flavour has bit more sour raspberry, and a slight hoppiness, but is a bit on the thin side. I think Razzykat has spoiled me for fruit beer flavour, oh well. This raspberry offering is more of a nice regular lighter ale, not overpowering with the fruit. Geez, this is sounding like a wine review. Anyways, this beer is also high on the carbonated side, which seems to kick up an interesting off-flavour: raw peas. I thought I was over thinking it, until a few other people pointed out the same thing. It's there, at least in the bottle; a slight vegetal essence. I definitely prefer this on tap.

A: Crisp golden. A somewhat fizzy white head... very short retention, leaving almost nothing behind.

S: Very light aroma. The raspberry scent is there, but quite modest, and about the only thing noticable.

T: Like the aroma, the raspberry is very light. A pale malt flavour, but not a whole lot more going on.

M + D: Light, refreshing and a clean finish. Not the most complex thing, but a great summer beer, and an excellent candidate for an introduction to craft beer / macro-crossover

The worst sin in a fruit beer is letting the sweetness take over. Thankfully this is not a problem with this beer. In fact the light flavours of both the beer part and the fruit part make this boringly drinkable. The beer is a cool very light pink orange colour with little head. The nose is all fruit with almost no hops. This is a very easy drinking beer with the raspberry notes not really causing any issue. What I got after a glass was that there isn't too much going on with this beer; it is balanced and very drinkable but suffers from turning down all the flavours.
