Just about black in color with a dense khaki colored head. The nose is heavy on the roasted malt with some coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. A touch of cocoa powder, some faint hops, and that's about it. Mild sweetness on the palate followed by lots of roast, coffee, cocoa, and dark chocolate. Lightly bitter, but also somewhat watery and thin. The carbonation is smooth and creamy, however.

On tap at Beer Belly in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that fades to nothing. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, licorice, and some cookie dough aromas. Taste is pretty much the same with an alcohol kick with each sip. There is a mild roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the carbonation is off and it's a bit thin in my opinion.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours black with a nice light brown head, excellent head retention, great lace, a great looking beer.

S: Dutch cocoa, dark malt, hint of charcoal.

T: Dark chocolate predominates, very good malt flavour, shades of Obsidian Stout, hint of earthy hops.

M: Medium to full-bodied, creamy, sweet but never gets cloying.

O: A very good stout, really tastes more American than English, sort of a mix of an American stout and an Export. My first from these guys, and I'm impressed. Another local brewer doing good.
