Notes:
Spring Street Saison is unlike anything you have tasted before. A refreshing traditional Belgian Farmhouse Ale, brewed with a special 3 malt blend, European hops and a historic farmhouse yeast blend from the Wallonia region of Belgium. SSS greets you with a slightly golden color, filled with a rich maltiness and a touch of fruity and spicy aromas and tastes that has a dry finish. It's one to truly fall in love with.

Just a good beer all around, no complaints

Spring Street Saison is a Belgian style farmhouse ale. The Saison is our flagship brew that helped spawn the formation of Avondale Brewing Co. Our Saison is brewed with our proprietary house yeast, a 4 malt blend and traditional Slovenian hops. Our unique brewing process along with the combination of the finest ingredients creates a thirst quenching brew with no equal. True to style this unfiltered ale has a coppery golden color and rich malty backbone that creates a unique farmhouse brew. Flavors burst with tropical fruit that combine with hints of spicy and peppery notes that are derived from our house yeast. One sip and you will fall in love.

A-Deep, golden brown color with an orange hue. Pours with a bright white head with poor retention. No lacing.

S-Sweet apples and a spicy fruit smell.

T-Cinnamon and coriander with a spicy fruit bite. Tastes like tart apple cider.

MF-Crisp bite with a smooth finish

O-A very good saison. I'm probably partial because I'm from AL, but it is a very good beer with distinguished notes of fruit and spice. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but this was a good saison.

I wish more breweries made saisons, especially as part of their year-round offerings. With Heavy Seas only offering theirs in mix-packs this year, I was excited to see this on tap.

Appearance: Light, golden body, with a fairly diffused head.

Smell: spicy, slightly tart.

Taste: crisp and tart.

Mouthfeel: light.

Overall: My high rating might be mainly because I really like the style; that said, theirs is quite good, and I wish it were available in my area. I also appreciate they they are making a saison as part of their year-round offerings-- it's a very accessible beer in terms of taste, but not readily available to many drinkers.

I had this particular beer a few months ago on tap at JClyde. It's appearance is a very rich goldenrod with a slight bit of haze that makes it just barely opaque. The smell is the one part of this beer that will catch you off guard, as it does not really fit the taste of the beer whatsoever. That aside, once you're use to it, it is a very pleasant and welcoming aroma. The taste is the best part. It has the smoothness and crispness of your favorite wheat beer, but it has the extra zing of white pepper and citrus that really makes this beer unique. Also of note that this beer is particularly dry for a Saison, but the twist of the classic style is refreshing given that you allow it to be. In my opinion, i would save this beer for late spring and on through the summer until the beginning days of fall. As much as i like this beer, it begins to be a bit light for my tastes as the temperature drops. Overall, I would say that the Spring Street Saison is above average and something unique that is most definitely worth trying should the opportunity present itself.

served from tap into a pint glass at Pano e Vino in downtown Huntsville,AL

A: good color, one-finger light-colored head, no real lacing

S: real strong apple cider vinegar-like smell - though at first somebody slipped me a cider by accident. Not pleasant

T: taste made up for the smell though- pleasant ciderish flavor mixed in with spices and some hops. alcohol came through also, but not overwhelming. an enjoyable taste.

M: a lot of carbonation, good mouthfeel, not syrupy or cloying

O: This is a really enjoyable beer, even though the smell may catch you offguard. A good effort by Avondale.

A- Pours a golden color, slightly hazy. Head is one finger and retains well leaving a bit of lacing.
S- The aroma is pleasant with some light lemon, mixed with peach and pale grainyness.
T- The flavor is too one-dimensional for the style. Grainy and a bit fruity. Kinda fell flat.
M- Dry, yet a bit heavy on the tongue.
O- An acceptable saison, but it's a bit too one-note for me on the tongue. Not as complex as the best examples from the style.
