Stopped in for a sampler. Was very impressed with the beer, beyond my expections for a place I heard so little about. Service was also impressive, as I even was offered a free sample of a local whiskey I wished I would have written down. Selection was also good and it was obvious that this was a go to place for beer geeks in St. Louis. The building seemed to be new, very clean and other patrons also were very enjoyable in conversation. If I'm back in the area, this place is a must. I did not try any food, for afterward I wanted to make the trek to Iron Barley's. My only mark is it seemed near some sketchy neighborhoods, although that might just be me.

I've been meaning to stop by this place for quite a while now, because I've heard a lot of good things.
First of all, the place is really low-key. There's some music in the background but its a very social atmosphere and everyone acts like they know everybody. People aren't there to hook-up or to party, but to relax, talk about beer, and talk about life in general. The brewer and owner, Phil, is one of the nicest, most generous, and most authentic guy I've met in a while. The guy loves beer, knows a hell of a lot about beer, and takes some risks with his beer that not many have the balls to do. Just for that, this place gets an A-- even before trying the beer.
I had a lineup of 4 to start with. Saison de Lis, Vermillion, the new Black Walnut Dunkelweisse, and then the Abraxas. I can tell you without a doubt that these are all 90+ quality beers. In fact, they are head and shoulders above anything I've had out of St. Louis right now as far as innovative, creative, and then having the skill to pull it off. With a few more years of really honing the craft and getting everything consistent, Perennial will probably become the brewery that makes the most interesting beers in Missouri if he plays his cards right-- if they are not already after being open since like October 2011.
After I had my lineup, Phil invited me back to the brewery part and showed me around. I got to taste a sample of something special they have brewing up that shall be unidentified-- but it was brilliant. After we talked a while in the back we went back up front and Phil shared a Peace Offering with me...bought it for me! Then, after he made his rounds to all his other regulars, he gave me a free bottle of the new Black Walnut Dunkelweisse to take home.
Brilliant place. The culture at Perennial is very laid back, authentic, and generous. People genuinely want to not only treat people well, but they do not patronize people at all but instead invite them to get excited about their little beer community. Will become a regular stop for me for sure. Next time I hope to try their food, which I hear is unbelievable.

I live relatively close (about a 10 minute walk) from Perennial and, while I don't get there often (not as often as I want to anyway), I love this place!
The beers, while not a large variety to choose from (decent for their size, though), are always top notch! I have yet to have a bad beer from them and always walk out of there with at least one bottle to go! Growler fills are reasonably priced as well, and I've walked out with those a few times too!
Last trip I spent over $100 on bottles of goodies, a growler to go and the two beers I had while sitting there. The bar staff is always friendly and willing to just shoot the bull with you while you are sitting there, even when they are busy (like they were when I was there).
Love this place and so glad that they are close!

First off this place is a little confusing to find. If you just punch the address into the GPS, you will end up on the wrong side of the building looking at what appears to be a warehouse. Just continue on around to the other side of the building and you will be fine. If the address was the street on the other side of the building it would make more sense to me.
The place was what I was hoping for out of a small brewery. You walk in and have the bar to left with some seating at the bar and also tables on past the bar. A selection of various swag for purchase. The space is small though. Perfectly fine for their current size, but I could see Perennial needing to move or expand this location soon.
They have a good selection of their beers on tap as well as bottles available for consumption and to go. I didn't notice any guest taps, but they have a small selection of liquor and wine for non beer drinkers.
They had a menu of food items that were more snacks than a meal. The quality was very good though. We had the cheese plate and pretzels. The cheese plate comes with way more cheese than crackers and it was a buck more for extra crackers. Although I don't remember if actually got charged the buck or not. I wasn't too worried about it.
Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and will be stopping back in soon. Probably next month to pick up the BA Abraxas and Vermillion.

Located in the far southside of the STL not far from one of the nearby casinos.
Walking into the brewery the bar is striaght ahead and seating behid there.
There were about 8 beers on tap plus two guest taps.
They are trying some unique beers and take on styles, mostly Belgium. We tried their Saison, Belgian Pale, and their Imperial Stout among others. All of their beers had a "house flavor" to them-I bet it is the yeast, but the bar keep says these use different yeasts-but I doubt this.
Service was good and we didn't try the food.
We bought a bottle of the Imperial Stout. I think there is great potiential here but the common house flavor is a bit distracting. Would come back to see how things are during next visit home.
