Atomosphere: Located in the rather posh, Reston Town Center, this shop is at the end of a long row of shops, restaurants, and businesses, and kinda comes out of the blue (but don't most wine stores?). once inside, take notice of how everything is clean, organized, and inviting. The long rows of warm beer selections (organized by bombers and sixers) are on the right hand side, facing the register, with a cooler towards the back, facing the front door, and a bin housing singles is at the front. Nice use of space!
Quality: It became obvious to me on my visit(s) right away that someone who knows something about beer is doing the "beer-ing" at this store: the beer rep obviously knows to keep the IPAs in the cooler and exactly just what available beer(s) are hot at the moment.
Service: I went to this place twice over the span of a week and both times the two ladies who waited on me were great. When I asked who the beer rep was, they replied that it was someone named Rhett. That's right, the one and only... "Rhettroactive!" Suddenly, everything started to make sense.
Selection: While this place is small, I find it amazing how well that space is utilized. There's no macro-muck here, and even the bombers are of things that you don't see at your standard Total Wine store, such as: DFH/Bruery collab "Faster, Bigger, Better, Bolder," DuClaw "Colossus," FW 15, Alewerks "Bitter Valentine," "Sculpin," and many others. Also, it was brought to my attention that about 2-3 months prior to my visit, this place didn't even have any beer. Wow!
Value: This place was pretty much on par with what I've seen elsewhere. For example, "Colossus" was about $27-28 bucks. I've seen it $30+ other places. FW 15 was about $20, sixers were reasonable, as well as the singles up front (which was a very nice addition!).
Keep up the great work, Rhett. I know this place is only going to get better with a BA like yourself at the helm!
