First off, Chifa is a place that focuses on food, but the limited beer selection they have is good. Upon entering you notice the first bunch of tables in the front are for 2 to 4 people only. Definite modern and clean feel to the place too. The bar isn't very large and is just off the front door area. In the back there are larger dining areas to accomodate larger groups and the booth area is very cool looking.
The food here is incredible, as we shared a few of the tapas including the brasied short rib wrapped in tarro, BBQ pork ribs, and the pork belly bao buns. We also had the duck tacos which were great.
Beer wise they only had 3 on draft - Victory Hop Devil and Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald were are choices for the evening. The other beer was from Yards, not sure which one though. The also had a decent bottle list that included Allagash, Lagunitas, and Victory. Depsite the smallish selection you should be able to find something to satisfy you.
Service was very good and knowledgable here. This is an upscale restaurant with a cool vibe to it and definitely worth a trip here for the food. No need to come here just for beers, there are plenty of other places in the area to hit.

Ate here while visiting Philly, as our one fancy restaurant of the trip.
First let me say that I don't think this is a beer destination. Yes, there is a decent selection, but there is certainly no focus on beer and it seems like an afterthought to the food, wine, and cocktails. That being said, this is a very worthy restaurant, and would be a good place to go on a date or with friends. The decent beer is just an added bonus.
So lets start with the beer. There are only four on tap, but it's a solid (and I assume rotating) list. Then there are about a dozen bottles. All good stuff, but nothing to write home about. In fact, I ended up getting sangria.
The food was fantastic. We split a variety of small plates. The pulpo (octopus) was delicious, as was the lobster bowl. Really everything we tried was delicious. Service was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing, gave great recommendations, and even gave us detailed options for where to go get a beer after dinner.
Prices add up very quickly. Our meal for two including drinks, dessert, tax, and tip was $170. You could certainly spend much less, but we went all out and left very satisfied.

Chifa is one of Jose Garces' less talked about restaurants but remains one of his best. It's a fine dining experience at cheaper than expected prices with an excellent beer selection.
Located on Chesnut Street on the same block as Morimoto and Jones, Chifa is a Peruvian Cantonese hybrid offering a large menu of tapas and entrees. I went here for the food based on the chef's reputation but the selection of beer was surprisingly very good.
They have five craft in draft including a rotating seasonal, something from FW, at least one local and a collaboration beer from Garces and Victory. In addition they have a great selection of 12 oz and 750ml bottles fom some of the most highly regarded brewers in the country. Breweries represented include Alagash, Bells, Avery, Founders, Ithaca, Oskar Blues, Russian River, Stone and The Bruery! The best selection of beer I've ever seen at a fine dining restaurant.
The restaurant is beautiful with a spread out dining room that provides intimacy even during a crowded weekend evening. In addition the service is impeccable and the god incredible. I had one of the best meals of my life here and the selection of craft beer available made the experience even better. Highly, recommended!
