An Italian take on a classic Belgian style, the first thing you will notice about Lacu is its frothy, creamy, and unyielding head. This hazy golden ale’s aroma is full of lemon, orange, and yeast.

Sweet grapes, grassy malt, and a mix of lemon and orange. Hops provide just a touch of bitterness. The 6.3% ABV warms a bit, as well. I also like the champagne characteristics with its effervescence, slightly dry finish, and flavor.

Lacu is smooth, creamy, and exceptionally well balanced. It will also take forever to get through it because the glass is half full of foam after every pour.

Perhaps not mind-blowing, but my, is that tasty

750mL bottle into snifter. lot: 1754.

A: slightly hazed golden yellow body. head is voluminous and is a bright white hue. great retention and super thick lacing. everything a bottle conditioned Belgian style ale should look like.

S: fruity. a lot of yeasty esters. a bit of an earthy hop aroma as well. sweet. slight biscuit. bready.

T: very fruity. pears and a bit of apple as well. a little bit of oxidation is going on here. virtually no bitterness. finish is estery combining with more fruit.

M: jacked up. almost effervescent. medium body.

D: not a bad brew here. not exactly what I think of when drinking a Belgian pale ale, but regardless, still plenty of positive Belgian notes. good work Italy on making a good example of a neighboring brew.

Pours a clean deep yellow with a white head. In the aroma, a mellow gingerbread like malt and a small candy sugar. In the taste, a mellow malt and a small abrasion of candy sugar. A small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a lightly dry and mellow candy sugar in the aftertaste. Honestly, it smells like Belgium. Mellow and basic, but just about average.

From a tall 750 ml corked bottle (with an explosive pressure), this beer is an interesting golden ale. Sampled it with my wife on Easter Sunday afternoon. The beer is a slightly hazy gold color with a very slim white head and lots of yeast floaties. The beer is effervescent,with champagne-like bubbles. The aroma is dry, with a floral and spice scent. Orange blossom and honey. The taste is semi-dry, with a delicate malt and spice character. Nice balance and a little carbonic bite. Fuller in body than I expected...after a few sips, it no longer comes across as a light and airy beer. Overall, this one is good, but not really outstanding.

Pours crystal clear, dark gold with columns of carbonation. A four-inch, rocky, white head slowly dissipates, never quite completely, as it leaves patches of sticky lace and a film on the glass.

Pleasant funkiness of fermented apples that have been laying on the ground. Sweetness wrestles with the fruity yeastiness and there is a hint of perfumy hops in the background.

The flavor is a mix of acidity, bitterness and light, sour flavors. These carry through into a subtle and lingering finish. There is a bit of apricot up front and apple cider in the middle.

A medium body that is a bit oily with lots of carbonation. This one is fresh like a crisp, sunny autumn day.

This beer draws out memories of the apple harvest and days in the barn with an apple press, great people and good times.

I bought this on a whim at Hop City in Atlanta for about $2.50 for a 750mL bottle. Deep gold color with a bit of yeast particles because I poured too fast. Slight bit of lacing on wall of glass. Clean taste. The aftertaste is pleasant with no bitterness. I have no issue with drinking it again.

Poured from a 750ml to a pint glass.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with visible sediment and a 3 finger fluffy white head. Smells of lemon citrus, orange peels, some spice, earthy and grassy aromas, and a slight banana scent from the yeast. The taste starts off with with a big soapy fizz of citrus then into flavors of original bubblegum, banana and orange. Light in body and feel, crisp, and highly carbonated. Overall a decent BPA.

Poured from bottle into tulip glass.

A: cloudy gold color typical of style
S: lemony light fruit and yeast notes
T: The lemongrass comes thru most of all, with the yeast following on the end. Very tasty!
M: light with good carbonation, par for the style.
O: This is a very good beer, and with only 6 reviews, sorta rare i am guessing. glad i got the chance to try one. It wont knock your socks off, but its well worth the price

A: The beer is very hazy dark yellow in color. Lots of yeast particles are visible floating near the bottom, even on the first glass poured from the bottle. It poured with a finger high white head that gradually died down and consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are aromas of yeast in the nose along with flavors of lemon, spices and yeast.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of lemons, spices and yeast.
M: It feels medium-bodied and dry on the palate with a high amount of carbonation.
O: This a very solid Belgian Pale Ale and the lemony flavors add some interesting qualities.

750 ml caged and corked bottle. Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with an inch and a half white head that stays around for a while. There's a good amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like bready malt, bananas, some tropical fruit and a bit of clove. It tastes like lemon and orange peel, bready malt, pears, and a bit of banana, spice and a floral hop flavor. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it has high but soft carbonation and it's easy enough to drink. I think it's a decent brew, it's worth trying but at $11.99 a bottle it's not something I'd buy very often.

Bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Pours hazy yellow with a slight orange tint. White fizzy head; leaves a little lacing.
S: Yeast and grains. Hint of spices and some banana?
T: Grainy, malty, banana in the finish . Surprised the spices didn't come through as much as in the smell.
M: First thing I noticed was the high carbonation; lighter, dry.
O: Overall an refreshing, enjoyable beer. I would've liked a little more full flavor and less carbonation, but this is my first experience with this category of beer. I tried to keep this in mind in my review. This was a fun beer to try, especially because the cork pops off like a champagne bottle; makes it feel like a special occasion no matter what. Definitely worth a try if you can find it.

This one pours a bright gold in color with mild turbidity and a light and fizzy white head that quickly dissipated. After the pour it appears a little watery. It smells sweet and yeasty and features a lot of clove and some banana with spices. It tastes of sweet and spicy yeasts and again features banana and cloves. It doesn't deliver much complexity but hits on what it should for the style. It drinks a little thin for my liking but isn't too thin by any means. Overall it is a solid Belgian.

A: Poured a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a big, fluffy white head. The head settles nicely and sticks around leaving great lacing.
S: Toasted grains, biscuity and cracker like aroma to the malt with some touches of spices. Hops add some citrus character and pleasant bitterness to refresh and balance. Yeast is adds spicy character typical of a belgian ale with some light tropical fruity esters.

T: Crisp light roasted malt character with a dry cracker aftertaste. Spice is delicate but welcoming and hops even out the taste with some pineapple and citrus notes as well. Yeast is flavorful and providing more esters and spice.

M: Bubbly crisp carbonation with a light to medium body.

D: It was 100 degrees when I drank this and it was very refreshing and flavorful. So satisfying it was begging me to have more. Seek it out it is hard to find but new to the US.

This beer poured out as a hazy golden yellow color. The head and lacing were pretty nice looking. The smell was citrusy and had some nice spices on the nose. The taste had some of the same basic elements. The flavors were spicy, floral, citrusy, and yeasty. As much flavor as it had it maintained it's light character and was quite refreshing on the mouthfeel. Overall the beer is pretty tasty and was a real rarity to see in the states.
