I received this bottle from hokiechef from a BIF about 4 months ago -- thanks! This sounded like a refreshing choice on a 90 degree day. Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a stemmed glass.
A - Pours a reddish peach color, with about one and a half fingers of off-white foam. Quite hazy to such an extent that it is hard to see through. The head fizzles away, but exhibits pretty good retention and decent lacing throughout the drink.
S - The first impression is of a sour funkiness, more intense than I was expecting from this saison. A fruity tart quality that I can only assume is the pomegranate juice becomes more prevalent as it warms. There is also a bit of a vaguely spicy quality to the brew.
T - A pretty nice saison funk, but definitely not as clean and crisp as those that I prefer more. There is a tart fruit character reminiscent of cherry juice that is quite mild, dominated by a spicy yeast character that seems to overshadow things. Alcohol is evident on the aftertaste.
M - Fairly light-bodied, with a lower amount of carbonation in the mouth than I was expecting. Slightly drying of the mouth.
O - I was hoping for something a bit more crisp and juicy with this beer. Don't get me wrong -- it is still really refreshing. I would just like to see the pomegranate come out a bit more and have the spicy yeast be dialed down a bit.

Pours a big three plus finger head of extremely delicate microfoam, even surface, decent enough retention, for lacing gives you a few thick streaks but not a lot overall. Very murky liquid, like a churning muddy stream, definitely has a pinkish cast to it which throws off analyzing the base color, hard to see any bubbles inside. The nose presents a gently soft array of yeast, banana bread, lemongrass, wheat germ, clove, white grapefruit pulp and sour cherry and pomegranate fruit, able to stay full while using that sourness to penetrate and freshen. Full-bodied with a mostly creamy texture, you don’t really feel the carbonation in an active sense but there is always an underlying dryness and mild tingle. The fruit isn’t quite all that pomegranate dominated, you get cherry, cranberry and raspberry notes too. Some tart pucker but more sweet overall. The clove, ginger spice stays in the middle ground, the white grapefruit to orange citrus veers more to sour. There’s a dried straw to hay herbaceousness to it, nothing green. The yeast stays yeast, not bread nor baked goods. Given its weight stays refreshing, smooth and quaffable.

Thank you Megan!
The beer appears hazy and yellow with a half inch or so of white head. the aroma brings some sweet fruit, wheat, grass. Grain flavors with a touch of tartness, finishing dry. Pomegranate character is a bit muddled. Overall, this was ok.

Collaboration with Bluejacket.
On tap at Rustico. Served in a tulip. Pours a light color with a slight pink hue. Nose has a touch of hibiscus, earth, and spice. Pomegranate comes through in the flavor. Crisp and dry; very tasty and easy drinking. This was a great concept and by far the best beer I've had from Lost Rhino. Hopefully either Lost Rhino or Bluejacket makes this in the future.
