Slightly cloudy amber, big off-white head, great retention, rings of lace
lots of toasty caramel maltiness with some herbaceous hop aroma
caramel malt with a bit of herbal hop flavor, nice bitter finish
Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation
switch this over to an English IPA and it would be decent. Not a good example of American IPA, though.

Purchased a 15-can Lost Rhino mix-pack from the local Costco - great deal! Pours a deep, transparent amber with a big, pillowy off-white head. Lots of foam that settles slowly. Aroma of pine and some bready malt. Taste is a sharp pine up-front that gives way to a balanced malt backbone. Feel is quite good - but probably only doing one of these in a night. Solid, more traditional IPA.

Visiting family in Front Royal, the pickings weren't the greatest at the local Martin's grocery store. A friendly local recommended this beer, and so I figured what the heck. I had wanted to try something local, and this more or less fills the bill.
The beer pours a light copper Amber color with pretty good head retention and decent lacing. The nose isn't awe inspiring, but isn't terrible either, showcasing onion, light celery salt and dry citrus. The flavor profile replicates the nose, but the finish is a bit hot and short. The beer seems a bit out of balance, and surprisingly boozy given the relatively low abv. The finish is pretty dry otherwise, and the hops do dry out the moderate malty sweetness pretty well. So drinkability is OK I guess.
The best thing I'd say about this beer is that it's inoffensive. There are so many really good IPA's on the market these days, and this clearly isn't one of them. It's a decent, drinkable IPA that at least isn't a drain pour, but that's probably the best I can say about it. I ended up getting a 6 pack because Martin's doesn't allow customers to break up 6 packs, which is unfortunate. I don't mind drinking a can or two of this stuff, but drinking down a 6 pack will be a chore. Oh well...
In fairness, this wasn't a super fresh IPA (a bit over 2 months old), so possibly I'm not drinking this beer at it's best.

Darn good looking pour. Clear amber, large, dense, lasting white head and lots of lacing. Aroma starts off with a strong dose of pine and backed up with a touch of caramel malts. Taste stays focused on the hops, herbal initially, then a bit of citrus mingles with a resinous base. Bitterness softened by a strong malt backbone. Some spiciness in the aftertaste. Surprised it is not rated higher.

Appearance:
Pours a hazy gold, like sunlight caught at the edges of a cloud. Moderate, choppy head with webbed lacing.
Bouquet:
Fragrant hops and brilliant citrus take the lead. What follows is an intermittent, sweet tang of grapefruit and tangerine.
Taste:
A twin of its aroma, save that the potential bitterness of its vivacious citrus fruits are balanced nicely by a dry, bready malt; reminiscent of fresh baked grains. Hoppy, exciting, delightful.
Feel:
A charming, steady fizzle of teeny bubbles tickle extra flavor out of the aforementioned hops and provides a pleasing tingle as the lingering elements dissipate.
Overall:
Although this isn't my top favorite IPA, Lost Rhino exceeded my expectations in all areas. If you find it in the store, give it a try!

On tap at Courthous Social, Arlington, Va. Moderate grapefruit bitterness and enough malt in the back to make a sessionable beverage. The 6.8% abv is well-hidden so be mindful!

Pours an amber body and an impressive rocky head with sustainability. Nose is citrus and mixed fruit and maybe a touch of spice. Flavor is relatively clean and balanced with an oily aftertaste. Not terribly different or memorable but sessionable and solid.
