Malty lightly boozy nose. Lots of tiny ubiquitous bubbles but virtually no head. Malty oil body which starts with a slight fizzy burliness but ends up sticky and boozy.
Some sweetness too.
Not god awful but still a bit of a bottom heavy sloppy mess. Surely the first ever Italian attempt at a malt liquor. Can't see how they could describe this as anything else.

A- Golden or light amber with a big two and a half finger white head. Lasts well and leaves just a touch of lacing.
S- Aroma is grainy, a touch of caramel, and just generic sweetness.
T- Very sweet all around. There is caramel, light toast, some biscuit. Just a touch of grassy or floral hops. Could have used just a touch of hops.
M- For a pale lager it's too thick from being undercarbonated.
O- It's an ok lager but it's like it's stuck between being a pale lager or something bigger.

Bottle from a liquor store in melbourne. From notes.

A - Poured medium golden and bright with a two finger white head. Mild carbonation coming up. Small rings of lace and a film of retnention.

S - Grainy, grassy hops, a little corny, sweet honey.

T - Yeast esters, orange, bubblegum, corniness, peach.

M - Strong carbonation, medium body, dry finish.

O/D - Elements of tastiness are there but the element of unpleasant grianiness came through too often. Alright but I wouldn't seek it out.

One taste and this became my favorite beer. I am going out to look for some now. I doubt if I can purchase it around here. I tried it in Europe. This was so much better than the Nastro Azzurro in bottles. I brew my own bee,r as I cannot find anything that is close in taste to two kinds that I make. In short, I give this beer my official "Yummy" rating.

330ml bottle poured in a regular glass. I've had this beer when travelling to my sister's house @ Autogrill - Milan area.

A: Pours a clear reddish amber color forming a modest white head. Small retentation and almost no lacings

S: Sweet caramel in the nose. Candy sugar, malt and bit citrus hops

T: Follows the nose: Sweet upfront, caramel, caramel malts, candy sugar, citrus hops. Mild bitter end. Metallic sensation. In overall, a sweet beer

M: Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Sweet mouth sensation and a mild bitter aftertaste

O: No big deal. As expected from a Italian macro. I would not classify it as a Pale Lager, maybe a Strong Euro Lager but reminds a Bock or a Heller Bock too. But definitely too strong and sweet to a Pale Lager

33cl bottle into a Duvel tulip. I bought this on a whim at a British supermarket, thinking that maybe the "doppio malto" on the label meant it was an Italianized Doppelbock or something. Oh, how wrong I was.

A: Clear, bright pale amber body under a finger of noisy, fizzy off-white head. Mediocre retention, no lace. Meh.

S: Muted cereal grains, some fusel alcohol, and that's about it. Maybe some apple. Weak sauce.

T: Perhaps a little better here, as at least it isn't boozy - at least at first. What it is, though, is heavy, unappealing, and boring. Oh, wait. Scratch that part about it not being too boozy. As it warms, it becomes horribly alcohol-forward, to the point where the booze really crowds out all the other grossness. What a bad beer.

M: Thick and sticky for a lager. Not good.

O: No. Just no.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass.

A- Pours a clear pale gold with about 1cm of bubbly head that quickly subsides to nothing. not horrible, but a bit meh.

S- Malty upfront, a whole bunch of sweetness, adjuncty, a touch of hay. nothing really going on as far as hops go. a bit meh.

T- Again a lot of sweetness to begin with, a touch of straw and a fair bit adjuncty. a slight bitterness rounds things out. tastes nicer than it smells, relatively crisp and clean, the alcohol was well hidden, but still really basic.

M- light bodied, and pretty refreshing, some nice carbonation. not too bad, relatively easy drinking.

O- not too bad, but not great. I like it better than the other peroni beers, but still pretty average.

Pours a pale orange with fluffy white head that soon disappears into an unimpressive white ring. Aroma is sweet malt, a little honey and caramel. Thin and actually a little flat on the palate. Little carbonation. Taste is sweet, almost honey caramel malt. A little bitterness that quickly fades into a dry sugary tang, not awful,and very average,with alcohol notes, but a little too sweet for me.

Light amber colour with tinges of red throughout & is topped by a two-finger high head that is white & foamy in texture. Head retention is good.

A grain like aroma initially. This was followed up by some floral hops & a fair bit of malts after the drink had time to open up. You can also detect some sweet caramel & a little bread.

A sweet tasting beer than has some good floral hops & a malty taste to begin with. There is some caramel & a touch of fruit to go with the sugary sweetness.

Medium to full bodied which surprised me after the smell, and overall it is quite smooth with medium carbonation.

A very nice drink & something to be savoured, I would probably by this again if it was available closer to home but certainly worth a try. Very enjoyable.

A: Light copper color with tints of orange and golden yellow. Small rocky head that lingers for a bit.

S: Light aroma, slightly sweet. Some floral and fruity hops are present as well. Grainy husk notes in the background.

T: Light flavor. Mild sweetness upfront with hints of candied apples and fruit. Lightly toasted grains and bisquits leads to a light hop bitterness as it finishes. Alcohol is well masked.

M: Medium bodied with ample carbonation.

D: Although this is far better than the regular Peroni, its still just average. There are some nice aspects of this beer, but all in all, it falls a bit flat.

Peroni has never been a big favourite of mine (I was always more of a Birra Moretti man), however this brew intrigued me, and as such we now make a slight detour to Italy for today's review.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a 500ml Stein.

A: Deep orange clear body with a 1cm densely-packed white head. Not at all a shocker to look at.

S: The double malt is quite evident here. Also there is a Belgianesque candy sugar nose that hits with hints of floral hop backnotes, but there is explicitly a malt driven brew within the glass.

T: Candy sugar sweetness presents up front with the substantial malt base, you could almost pour milk in the glass and mix it into a milkshake. The hops remind us in the aftertaste that it is in fact a beer, however they really take a back seat on this journey (not always a bad thing despite what my BA nom de guerre would suggest). Apart from the bold sugars there is a little alcohol tinge to it, I wouldn't say that the 6.6% ABV is well hidden but it certainly doesn't assail you like most beers I've tried at this volume.

M: Borders on wheat-beerish with the mouthfeel profile; creamy and dense, with a mid to low carbonation, alright.

D: A bit of background first; I got a sixer of this for $10, which is a steal, but would I drink it if I was paying the RRP of $17 per 3-pack? Maybe, and that is a big maybe. It's a decent drop, not a show stopper and I would have preferred a bit more balance with the hops, or alternatively more interesting malt grains, but it still goes down a treat regardless, and that 6-pack will be missed when it's all gone.

Food match: Gourmet pizza (like the traditional buffalo mozzarella Margherita) or linguine Arrabbiata. Doesn't have to be Italian cuisine just because it's an Italian beer either; I'm matching it with a home made vegetarian hamburger as I write.

Enjoyed in Edinburgh, Scotland at an Italian restaurant. Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Tasted on 10/16/10. Reviewed from notes.

A - very thick foamy white head; clear yellow in color
S - light aromas of yeast and bread
T - slightly tart, crispy hops with some faded tasting pale malts
M - medium carbonation with slightly hoppy bittering finish
D - not super well rounded; uninteresting hops bill with little malt; drinkable none the less

a-Dark yellow color,like orange,low carbonation,with big dirty white head,lasting few minutes.

Pours deep amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows sweet caramel, golden syrup, cardboard and grainy malt.
Flavours include less caramel and golden syrup with the cardboard and some vegetal notes standing out instead. The alcohol is also quite noticeable.
Body is a little light on, carbonation could be higher.

A- Gold to amber. Very lively head that disappears very quickly, leaving no lacing at all. Carbonation is visible

S- Pretty much the classic bready malt character, with maybe a faint hop freshness. Some alcoholic notes can be detected and don't seem to fit with the rest of the aroma

T- Again, very malty with a biscuit character. You actually wouldn't expect the malts to feel so strong in a 6.6%ABV beer. The malty character is nicely matched by hop bitterness on the palate, where the beer feels fresh, thanks to high carbonation. There is also a faint lemon aftertaste

M- Quite a big body for the ABV. The carbonation has the beer feeling fresh but it gets too aggressive on the palate

O- An easy and fresh drink, but not just your ordinary lager. This is still a beer that lacks complexity and gets kinda boring after a while

330ml brown bottle poured into a Hobgoblin pint pot.

A. A crystal clear pale amber coloured beer with a white bubbly head that shrank fairly quickly down to a thin foam.

S. Floral, grassy, biscuit malt aromas dominate. Some faint citrus nuances too.

T. Slight toffee, biscuity malt character and a not too bitter finish to end with.

M. Medium bodied

D. A clean, easy drinking lager. Doesn't feel like a 6.6% abv beer.

Give credit where it's due, this beer looks amazing. Rich gold body with a tight collar of foam that laced nice and thick and was still half a centimetre at the end of the glass. But it goes downhill from there. Sweet malt and a hint of honey. Alcoholic sweet with apparent bitterness but no real hints of why this beer needs to be this ABV. Slightly more interesting than the regular Peroni in the same way a Big Mac is slightly more intereting than a McCheeseburger.
