Bought this one in Waterbury at a grocery store I think. From notes.

A - Great colour with a cloudy, light golden. Good carbonation coming up to a two finger fluffy white head. Nice creamy finger of retention and a great wall of lace all around. Looks like apple cider with the yeast added.

S - Orange, mild sweet baking spice. Bubblegum, wheat. Similar to a Hefe. Smelled good. Lot's more orange and banana with the yeast added.

T - More of the same. More sweet spice, some barnyard character. Banana and bubblegum. Not really complex.

M - Strong carbonation, medium to full body. Creamy. A little spicy finish lingering for quite a while.

O/D - Really wasn't anything special to me. Spice was something that was too strong for my tastes. Aside from that there a few good features, but certainly nothing special. Decent, but a bit of a letdown. Too similar to a Hefe.

a: clear golden yellow. reminds me of fields o' grain. large 4 finger (probably would have been more if the glass were larger) head.

s: pears, green apple, wheat, nice bready and spicy yeast. sweet citrus zest, sweet malt with some earthiness. smells really nice.

t: follows the nose. the dominant flavors i'm picking up are ripe pears, sweet malt, green apple, and a nice yeasty component. slightly floral. pepper spice, clove on the back end. finishes crisp and slightly dry. really smooth

m: lighter side of medium, with quite a lot of carbonation - which works well. it helps the sweeter flavors pop to harmonize well with the yeast and spice.

o: this is definitely a refreshing beer that you will enjoy drinking. its really smooth and doesn't feel heavy at all - definitely a nice summer drinker. sit on your porch and enjoy nature whilst drinking this.

A - Pours an orange body with golden hues and an eggshell one finger head.

S - Brett is noticeable... White grape, yeast spices, white pepper and green apple. The tartness really balances out and brings forward the sweeter fruit qualities.

T - Milder than the nose. Brett tartness, funky, fruits of white grape and green apple. Turns a little peppery with clove and nutmeg towards the end.

M - Lighter bodied, higher carbonation. Has a dryer finish and it's so crisp to drink.

O - Lovely tartness on the nose with a milder tartness in the taste. Such an easy drinking beer and pleasing to the palette.

A - Pours a hazy medium orange with a huge off-white head with great retention. Perfection.

S - Lots of Brett like smells, some wood, citrus, fruit, hops. Solid.

T - Soft Brett-like. What? Wood, citrus and some wild flowers round it out.

D - Good carbonation with a light body.

O - Silky and soft and very nicely balanced and enjoyable. I got lots of Brett like characteristics, but this was just the straight Seizen.

750ml bottle into a snifter. best by 12/2015.

Pours a light golden color with an inch and a half thick lingering white head. Smell is of sweet lemongrass, very nonoffensive and pleasant. Taste is very nice , typical sweet saison flavors with the yeast really showing its presence. This one might be a bit better with some more age. High carbonation and a medium body, feel is pretty straightforward and typical for the style.

Overall a very enjoyable saison. Though this is not my favorite style i've had plenty of them and this one is one of the better ones that i've had the pleasure of drinking. Would recommend to any saison lovers.

Cloudy honey gold body with a massive, swelling white head that fills the glass, leaving behind sexy lace all over the place.

Mellow but spicy yeast with an approachable fruity sweetness. A little pepper, a little white grape. A delicate beer with plenty of nuance.

Juicy white wine flavors layered with spicy pale fruits... a touch of bready malt characteristics lend a hand in keeping this one in balance. What a tasty summertime beer.

pour is completely hazed lighter golden yellow. Nose is fairly nice, lighter on the farmhouse yeast notes, strong sweet ester notes of banana and light clove spice. Taste is a bit bigger, still lots of banana and light spice as the farmhouse note shines through a touch more but still very subtle. Very well carbonated with a light airy body and moderately dry finish.

Orangey cloudy appearance, head is dense, just a thin crown but loads of lacing left behind wherever it's been. Looks nice.

Smells funky, but so inviting. She's fresh (exciting). Peach, nectar, green apple, some nutmeg and cinnamon. Yeah, slight tartness to balance out an otherwise sweet and lovely aroma.

Taste is also sweet and spicy. Cinnamon with sultanas, cake batter upfront, then green apples and barnyard funk come through with a touch of coriander, grains of paradise and balsamic. Ends with this sweet, yet phenolic flavour in perfect harmony with the other components. Yum.

Foams a little in the mouth. A bit sharp, but drinks well.

A cracking saison. Funky, refreshing, sublimely complex and yet so much finesse. We have here an absolute weiner.

Poured into a tulip glass out of a 750ml bottle at the Albany Taproom. Review is from my notes.

Pours a fabulous orange-amber color complete with an enormous frothy four finger head that rises completely to the top of the the glass as the yeast gets poured in. Indeed, the initial golden color becomes completely coated in a cloudy, chilled haze of yeast as it trickles down in a thickened, heavily carbonated cascade of goodness. Lacing is absolutely fantastic, and sticks around in a cobwebby manner. Decent alcohol legs on this as well. The head maintains itself fully and strongly throughout consumption. Simply put, a beautiful looking saison.

The aroma is exactly what I'd expect this to be, except with several differences that take it to another level - at least in my experience. There's slight funky, sourish aromas aided by the wild yeast strains, but also an enormous fruity backbone of orange peel, lemons, and a straw, barnyard-like aroma that smells extremely rustic and brings me straight to a bucolic countryside somewhere. However, due to its freshness and crisp malts, as well as grassy hop profile, it's extremely mellow as well to whiff on occasionally in the face of its complexity.

The flavor is not nearly as explosive, but it still retains all of the elements picked up in the aroma. There's an initial combination of sour, wild fruity notes that come in, followed immediately by bready, thickened characteristics that are both from the strong yeasty character and grainy strength. The finish is definitely a little bit more bitter and zesty (continuing the orange peel sensation), but it's very balanced and all of the ingredients are well presented. There's definitely a focus on the yeast here, and we noted that the more yeast added to the glass changes the flavor substantially. By the finish, it was very chewy, almost. Still stupidly easy to drink, especially considering all of the factors that go into this thing.

Seriously one of the best saisons I've had in a while. This is a growing favorite style of mine due to its beers, when done correctly, to be so drinkable while retaining a lot of complexity. This is an ultimate kick-back beer, which could be used for formal or casual events. I really want to try more beers from Logsdon Farmhouse Ales in the near future.

A: What a beautiful pour, it's a rich golden haze with streams of carbonation bubbles racing one another up to join the giant 4 inches of white creamy and foamy head. As the head settles it leaves bold and beautiful lacing around the entire glass and a cratered foam top. The head never gives up - it continues to re-activate on each top up, if there's a better looking beer - I haven't seen it.

S: Tart crisp fruits of pineapples and peaches laced with fresh florals. The smell is clean and refreshing, peppered with seizon yeast finishing with the sweet fresh fruits.

T: Classic wheat seizon yeast with fruity tartness and citrus rind. Mid palette is peppery and earthy and finishes clean and refreshing with spicy cloves.

M: Big carbonation and crisp mouth feel with a pleasant dryness

O: Beautiful tart and dry flavours refreshing with citrus rinds. Enjoyable and refreshing, summer in a glass..I might be enjoying it way too much.

A - Clear straw, huge white, thick head. Tons of lace as the head calms downs.

S - Lemon, wheat, straw, sharp apple.

Another bottle from one of my favorite breweries, thanks go to trystero.

A - Wonderful. Opaque honey orange body, huge fluffy white head that lingers for a long time and leaves excellent lacing.

S - Very inviting. Light funk and fruity yeast esters - orange peel, honey, floral. A bit difficult to describe the overall impression - not a "clean" aroma, but a very light and refreshing one. Quite good.

T - Follows the nose but not exactly. The orange and fruit is subdued compared to the nose, while there's a bit more brett note present in the flavor (but this is not a very bretty beer, unlike some of the others they make). Pretty dry for a stateside saison, which I very much enjoy. The malt is on the light, sweet side - pilsner malt in character, just transformed by the yeast. Enjoyable but not quite as much as the nose.

M - Prickly and well-carbonated. As I mentioned, pretty dry but not bone dry. Goes with the beer well.

Overall, a very good beer. Logsdon is among my favorite saison brewers, along with Dupont and Fantome. This is probably the least complex of theirs, but it's still very good. A very drinkable and delicious beer.

[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]

The pour was a hazy orange with a huge (3-4 finger) off white fluffy head that actually kept increasing for a short while, lasting throughout and producing some excellent foamy lacing.

The aroma was of a grain malt and a bold funky Belgian yeast with notes of clove, citrus (orange peel), a light fruity ester (pineapple and peach) and a mild peppery spice.

The taste was lightly sweet and rather yeasty with a pronounced fruity presence pretty much throughout, with a decent citrus peel bite creeping in along with a peppery spicy ending. The flavor lasted quite a long time proceeding the swallow with a strong citrus peel bitterness lingering on for a while longer.

Mouthfeel was a step or two above light in body with a dry texture and a nice lively carbonation.

Overall this was a very tasty Saison, which possessed a good balance between the fruitiness and bitterness making it a very enjoyable drinking experience. Just be careful, the bottle keeps gushing suds until about half empty...

750ml bottle into Duvel tulip.

A: A geyser didn’t erupt but I still lost some beer to the floor once I popped the cap. After the gushing subsided, this beer sat beautifully in the glass. A huge, airy, bubbly white long-lasting head fills most of the glass and slowly faded into a rocky film. Thick sheets of lace were left down the glass. The body is a hazy pumpkin color.
S: Huge notes of yeast, sweet fruits, bubblegum, citrus and earthy herbal spices. Smells awesome.
T: More yeast with a good dose of citrus rind bitterness and peppery, earthy spices. The taste falls short of the nose, and lacks a sort of well-roundedness. Not as much juicy fruit flavor as the nose let on. Flavors are herbal, spicy, earthy, green, and chalky, with some floral notes in the finish. The aftertaste is very spicy and lightly bitter and herbal.
M: Medium-full body, frothy and smooth mouthfeel. Fuzzy carbonation.
O: Great look (aside from the gush), delicious smell, decent taste, solid mouthfeel. Not as good as the Belgian greats but definitely a brewery I’m interested to try more from.

Bright, golden yellow with an even cloudiness. Fizzy bubbles fill rapidly the upper half of the glass. Retention is merely a thin layer of white bubbles. A few spots of speckled lace. Jeff's glass has better lace.

The aroma is fruity and grassy. It has a lot of pear, mild apple, prairie grass, pollen and straw. Subtle spices - some clove. Clean aroma.

I'm taken by surprise - this has a notably punchy taste. It isn't tart but is loaded with over-ripe light fruits. Mostly apple. The middle finds herbal notions and spice. Wet grass and musty hay finish.

I'm inclined to call this close to a medium feel, if only for the alcohol slickness it displays. Carbonation was high at first but most of it fades out by halfway through the glass.

Pretty enjoyable overall. I could go for a 1.5-2% lower abv.

750 mL bottle poured into an oversize red wine glass at 4C, tasted at about 7C.

Rich, hazy golden straw and orange pour with thick voluptuous and beautifully dimpled 4+ finger head that is perfectly maintained, near perfect lacing.

Yeasty mandarin orange and tropical fruits dominate the nose. Some alcoholic warmth, subtle hints of acidity and fresh citrus oil.

Surprisingly high acidity considering the nose, but average for the style. Dry, old mandarin orange and woody coriander/spices. Light horse blanket yeast, but slightly green grassy hop-ishness dominate the lower end. Richly balanced with good depth but lacks satisfaction; I think it lacks a little bit of sweetness.

Crisp, medium weight body that is well carbonated before a marginally dry peak before a medium juicy finish with a yeasty bubble at the back of the palate.

There is something disjointed between the nose, taste and mouth feel. While each individually are good, the evolution from one to the other lack integration. The lacking of satisfaction may be due to the cold season, so I will try this again in the summer. A good drink but there several other saisons that I would much rather have as a similar or lower price.

Huge thanks to boralyl for getting me a bottle of this. Served side-by-side with the Bretta version. Bottle into a goblet. Warning: this was a bit of a gusher. Pours a pale orange-light copper color with a very large, rocky white head. Really nice retention and quite a bit of lacing. The nose carries really nice notes of spice and pear with some backing stone fruit. It’s surprisingly similar to the Bretta version. I’m extremely impressed how much complexity there is coming out of a clean saison. This is one of the best American versions of the style that I’ve had. A bit of malt character in the background. Dry after light-medium body. Crisp carbonation. Really not much to complain about here.

A- Pours a clear golden color, topped with a gorgeous, fluffy four-finger white head, which recedes only very slowly and leaves a ton of excellent lacing behind it.

S- Yeast, spice, some light malt and a nice apple/pear fruit aroma.

T- Opens with light spice followed by yeast, some doughy malt, apple and pear fruit flavors and a mild lingering spiciness. Booze provides a very faint phenolic clove/medicinal flavor.

M- Medium-bodied, has a smooth feel with a dry finish.

O- Another excellent saison from Logsdon, it lacks the insane complexity and awesomeness of Seizoen Bretta, but this is still a very tasty, refreshing beer.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Lost Abbey chalice.

A- pours a dark honey color with a huge 3" off-white head. Big ring and bubbles of lacing remain on the glass.

S- big lemon zest, honey, lots of spices.

T- sweet honey and pale malts, lemons, spices, and crisp bitter hops.

M- medium body and high carbonation. Has some creaminess but the high carbonation takes away from the drinkability some.

O- good beer and nice saison. Drinkability has increased as this beer warmed.

A - well, it gushed everywhere. Golden with huge white head.

S - Fruited spices with a note of tartness.

T - Spices, grass, light fruit and light tartness that creates a lemongrass flavor. The favors are subtle, a little watery. Some bitterness on the finish.

M - A little light for the style, but very easy to drink.

O - A pretty good Saison, especially for an American brewery. A shade below what I've found in the best of the USA Saisons.

Purchased from K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City, CA. Opened during our Fantôme tasting day with @LaitueGonflable and @tobeerornottobe, just to throw them off the scent. Upon uncapping, despite the gentle treatment and the solid chilling it received, it gushes out in waves onto my table-top, probably losing about a quarter of the bottle. Inauspicious start.

Colour is a cloudy but bright orange-yellow colour, with a very pronounced, and frothy, crackling head of white. Lacing is messy, anarchic and very full, when it forms. Decent weight to the body, with a nice amount of fine carbonation. Looks pretty good.

Nose has a solid, pleasant greenness to it, a touch of pepper and phenolics and a hint towards acidity. Some sweeter characters sit around on the back as well, perhaps the fragrance of fresh vanilla orchids, but overall it doesn't adapt and express itself an awful lot: it feels like it dumps everything it has on you in the aroma and then disappears. It's still pleasant, but you feel like it could have been excellent.

Taste is clean and mild, with some slight phenols on the back. Slight bite and a clean cider character, and not unpleasantly. Some phenols, and appleskin on the finish, which gives it a slightly biting and almost bitter finish. Perhaps a bit too sharp and bitter, in fact, which gives it a harshness on the back.

Feel is clean but quite light.

Overall, this is decent, but really not exciting, and perhaps even not that great a Saison. Their "Bretta" version is better. It also didn't explode all over my furniture.

Bottle from Made in Oregon.

Body is a cloudy mellow gold. Stiff, stubborn, popmarked off-white head.

Smells of pungent clove, bitter rind, & fruit juice. Dusty malt, leaves, alcohol, & Play-Doh on the backend. Unrelated, but the wax on the cap has this awesome ambergris scent to it.

Belgian, sticky tripel sort of sweetness. Pretzel-like malt. Lemon twang. Mellow yeast. Beer is pretty warm by now. A little mushroom. Leafy, shy, bitter finish. Frothy. Strong carbonation that faltered when I needed it.

A bit too sweet & heavy for me. The brett version thinned things out nicely though.

Bottle from New Seasons in Orenco. Bottle No S5235, best by August 2014. I've had this once before, thanks to Thorpe429 (thanks, Mike!), but now, I get to enjoy a bottle over an evening.

Gushing like crazy, this beer sits a hazy orange yellow with a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and gorgeous lacing. This is a particularly attractive saison. The nose is great.Moderately bright with a mild Brett funk present, this is a nice, complex saison. A mild clove note (from the Brett), along with some fresh black pepper, this has a nice yeast profile. Rustic, moderately grainy with the pear juice showing as a complementary fruit note, there's also some juicy citrus hops. Despite lacking that grainy snappiness that the better saisons have, this is very enjoyable.

The palate opens with a blend of saison yeast (moderately frothy/doughy), honey, bright citrus (oranges), and light fruit (pear). The grain character is really doughy, with the flavor of rising bread providing the backbone for this beer. Not as spicy as the nose might suggest, and lacking in the peppery notes that the best saisons have, this is a pretty solid beer. While immediately recognizable as a saison, this beer does lack in definition and identity IMO. Bitterness is medium low, appropriately so. Alcohol is a little noticeable, especially towards the finish where the fruit comes through, along with a little bitterness and clove. Medium-light in body, over-carbonated for the style, this beer is decent on the palate. Strangely waxy on the palate, this is a pretty solid example for the style IMO.

Aroma is fruity & floral, Belgian yeast w/ equal parts musty funk and bubblegum.

Taste is fruity and spicy - apple and pear, musty Belgian yeast.

Mouthfeel is soft, medium-bodied, finishes dry.

Overall a solid, moderately complex saison.

Best by 04/15. Pours a murky, golden orange with a large, frothy, white head. Scent is VERY spicy. A good amount of pepper. Funky, tart aromas. I wish I had done this side by side with the Brett version, because this one smells awesome as well. Some pear and lemon coming through. Taste is tart at first, just like the Brett version was. This one is very similar, just not as funky in the flavor. More lemon than pear in this version as well. A lot of tart lemon with some Belgian yeast and peppery spices. Nice earthy and citrus balance. Mouthfeel is tingly and nicely carbonated. Drinkability is very high. Overall, I love what this brewery is doing. Outstanding saison!
