This growler got filled a long way from Eureka, California in Mentor, Ohio. I got the end of one keg and the beginning of another.
My impression in the store was that it was a much tamer double than it really is. I was surprised about the alcohol content. It is well hidden by wonderfully balanced hops (not over the top) and nice malty flavors. It has a creamy texture and goes don nicely without any bite. It's a bit light on carbonation and that's fine. The color is pretty and it is not clear.
Overall this is a fine AIPA that I would love to buy again.

Obtained at "Sanctuary" pub in Iowa City. On-tap, and requested in a tulip glass; reviewed live.
Translucent gold body with a three-finger, frothy, pure-white head. Great retention and lacing. Aroma is of boundless citrus, mostly grapefruit and lemon but with some orang pulling through as well. Bitter, floral hops are also prominent, and a solid pine aroma exists throughout. Taste is more subdued than the nose, consisting of watered-down citrus, mild earthen hops, pine resin, alcohol, and a dirty grain flavor. Mouthfeel is surprisingly undercarbonated, soft, and watery. Piney syrup clings to the palate. I attribute this to the "new, experiential faucet" that this beer was poured from. I noticed it prior to ordering, asked if it was a nitro-tap (it's similar in appearance, but more steeply curved and lacking the black polymer tip). Alas, the faucet seems to plunder the carbonation from the body. Overall, I think this one has potential, but beware the serving method. Worth trying.

On tap at Bier Academy in Canyon Country, CA.
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with an off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Random streaks of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest, grapefruit, and some herbal hop aromas. Taste is very much the same with a medium level of bitterness. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good DIPA but nothing too amazing going on here.

A- Cloudy grapefruit color to yellow head with 1 finger head that holds for the duration of consumption.
S- Sweet citrus, grapefruit, bready malts, honey and alcohol
T- sweet malt at first with citrus and lemony hop flavor that balances it out.
M- medium body, lingering sticky gritty finish, Alcohol comes through with a bite in the end.
O. Pretty decent, but Founders Double Trouble still holds the title for this name in my book.

Cloudy yellow in appearance with at least a finger of head. There is some good retention here. There is a piney nose that is quite pleasant. There is a solid malt flavor upfront and a satisfying hop bitterness in the finish. This is quite a good offering from a brewery that does not often impress me.

On tap at coffee district in delray.
Now this was a surprise. I hadn't tried this before, was watching the man utd game and wanted something to wet my whistle. What a fantastic DIPA this is. Tons and tons of grapefruit and pine on the nose of this, neither was overpowering though. Amazing lacing on the glass as i drank this one. Great mouthfeel to this, going down just tons of citrus popping out of this. Wasn't going to have a second beer that early in the day but had to, this was great. Hopefully i can find some bottles of this locally, not sure though.
