On-tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. Beautiful warm day, so lets stick with a light fruity selection today.
Slightly murky, orange color. Thin, white foam but minimal retention or lace.
The aroma is a huge explosion of fruit. First thing it reminded me of is a creamsickle. If its a fruit beer, lets have it all fruit (in aroma and taste).
The taste had the same orange/tangerine flavor, but not nearly as full as the smell.
The wheat beer base is there in the back ground, but obviously the fruit dominates. No real hop or bitterness to speak of.
The mouthfeel is light, and works for the style. Carbonation is low, keeping it from being too much like a fizzy wine cooler or soda.
Works great for an easy drinking, summer time refresher.

Served in a snifter at Ale Arsenal.

A: Pale, lightly hazy, and with decent head.

S: HUGE tangerine. Unmistakeable and enjoyable.

T/M: Grainy, citrus, but somehow artificial. Lots of tangerine, almost like candy. Some good carbonation, lightly dry end taste.

O: Must try if you like tangerine. Otherwise, would not recommended.

screw the haters on this one, this beer kicks ass. whether you like fruit beers or not, you have to respect this one. so much flavor! the pour is a relatively standard looking pale wheat color with a lacey but thin white head. the nose is epic, so much tangerine, right from the tree. its acidic and sweet, tangy and robust, its juicy and alive, all at once. its fantastic, and it crowds out any heavy vibes from the wheat malt in both taste and smell. all those aromas carry through to the flavor, which is equally orangey and refreshing. there is no other brew out there this heavy on the tangerine citrus element. its uncanny really. more than enough carbonation, made a little heavy from the left over yeast, but to me this is inconsequential, as the tangerine notes make this beer as light as can be. a perfect spring break lounge chair sipper, winter transformer, or everyday slammer. i absolutely adored this beer, and im sorry to see it rated so low. i think its a rare thing in the beer world to encounter a brew with so much fruit character that isnt sweet or fake. this is really lovely, dont let the ratings throw you off.

Was looking forward to trying this beer at a relatively new bar nearby my house. At first I enjoyed the aroma - it has a very strong tangerine smell to it. The first few sips were ok, but the more I drank through my pint, the more and more it started to taste like Tang. The Tangerine is way too strong in this beer without any other flavors to complement it. It honestly didn't taste like a wheat beer, let alone a beer at all. Unfortunately it was a disappointment.

Arrives a cloudy dark orange-amber color with a decently retained white head.
Smell is notes of malt and tangerine, strong and delicious like orange soda. That's it. Not great balance.
Taste is tangerine, malt, hops, a woody/pithy/almost medicinal note.
Fizzy like club soda with a feel similar to it as well. Fairly clean finish though dry and bitter. A decent beer overall but needs a better, less bitter, finish. And some wheat notes would be good, too.

First had: on tap at POPE, Philly, PA

I was actually in the mood for a wheat beer this particular day. Served in a ribbed tumbler, a hazy, burnt sienna color with a wispy white head; no real retention or lacing to speak of. Obvious whole tangerine peel in the nose, with a zesty wheat profile. Delivers what it promises in the taste, bready wheat malts, tangerine and more tangerine, from the pulp to the peel, mild pithy bitterness in the finish. Light-medium body, a bit chewy, and moderately refreshing. No surprises here. Not too bad overall.

New beer on tap at bdubs. A good way to stay cool on this 102 degree day!

Appearance - cloudy, muddy orange. Good hold to the thin finger of creamy foam.

Aroma - bright and tangeriny. Some wheat influence softens things. Good resilience too.

Taste - a smooth, almost milky orange, like an Orange Julius beer. Solid fruit flavor without sugary sweetness. Even a touch of rind tartness.

Mouthfeel - very smooth and easy sailing. Full body for a wheat but still refreshing.

Drinkability - goes down way too easy.

What a great, refreshing smell!! Clean, citrus, fresh, orange.

A dark, not bright, yellow color with a thin white foam that all but disappears in the glass.
The flavor is a strong clear orange/tangerine.

Light on the palate with a lingering aftertaste. This may have merely been psychological, but I couldn't get the thought of a cleaning solvent out of my head.

I wanted to like the beer. I love the smell. I love orange in my alcohol. I just couldn't get past it.

T - Not too sweet, decent balance with a lot of tangerine and toasted malt backbone.

M - medium body, medium carbonation.

O - Decent fruit beer, would only get it whilst in the mood.

Served on-draught into a pilsner glass at The Lab gastropub in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed from notes. Served with an orange wedge (against my preferences, mind you).

A: Pours a one finger head of fair cream and thickness, and nice retention. Colour is a hazy copper.

Sm: Extreme citrus esters are quite strong, but this may be from the orange wedge. Very fresh and pleasant.

T: Tangerine and orange fruit ester hops. Very sweet. A light barley foundation is surprising; where is the wheat? Simple but well balanced and nicely built.

Mf: Smooth and wet, complementing the flavour.

Dr: Very drinkable, but lacking complexity or inspiration. I'd have it again at a lower price.

S: Mostly tangerine with malt background.

T: Lot of tangerine throughout making this very refreshing from start to finish. No hops really. Mostly wheat background.

M: light body and high carbonation.

Overall: Bascially alcoholic flat fanta. It was good but not what I want from my beer.

On tap at St Augustines in Vancouver.

A: 1/8" white head over straw coloured liquid with excellent clarity.

S: Very strong smell of tangerine and a faint smell of wheat.

T: Very sweet, almost reminds me of Fanta tangerine soda.

M: Medium level of fine carbonation and medium viscosity.

O: A very drinkable wheat ale with fruit, but it may be too sweet for some.

I got this on tap at a beer house bar. Very nice appearance: it has an extremely thick, milky and super cloudy look that I've never seen. The predominant aroma when you smell this beer is of, well you probably guessed, tangerine. Hints of wheat can also be found.

The taste is also as 'advertised', with a very predominant tangerine taste which, in my opinion, was a bit too strong and hid the usual qualities of a beer that I look for although I must clarify that in the end this a vegetable/fruit beer and this is to be expected. The fact that tangerine is not among my favorite fruits also applies the aforementioned taste points.

Overall, a good beer and highly recommended for those looking to try something different and specially to all the tangerine lovers.

Cloudy straw colour with a creamy white head. Limited lacing.

Very, very juicy tangerine with plenty of sweetness.

Very orangey, in fact it is just like Sunkist. There’s not really any malt here nor is there anything particularly appetising unless I wanted soda.

Medium body with moderately-hgih carbonation.

This is just like a glass of Sunkist only with a touch less sugar. For me it is over the top on the fruit flavour and it lacks any sense of finesse.

We first must say we are usually drinking stouts or porters. In addition, from experience most beers claiming tangerine flavor/taste were disappointing. That is not the case with this beer. Right from the start this beer has a strong tangerine aroma on the nose. A nice clean white ivory head implies the carbonation that is in this beer. This beer also has a slight thickness that is unexpected. The flavor of tangerine also comes out in the taste with only an extremely slight bitterness but an effervescence that clears out the bitterness leaving the orangey taste. A really great summer beer.

Served in a standard shaker pint glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: As served the beer is a hazy golden orange color with a ¼” white head that persists fairly well but doesn’t leave much if any lacing. What foam the beer started out with is mostly gone by about 1/3 of the way through the beer and sipping leaves not even scattered lacing.

Smell: The aromas (correction, the aroma) is mostly a light crisp tangerine smell with no wheat or malt detectable.

Taste: The flavor is mostly sweet tangerine flavor and again I’m not really picking up much of anything else.

Mouthfeel: The mouth feel is light bodied and prickly with the active carbonation. The finish begins in the tangerine and citric flavored sweetness and fades off leaving a nice citric bitterness at the end.

Drinkability and Overall Impression: This is a pleasant, refreshing beverage that seems more like a fruit soda than a beer. It offers the prospect of a refreshing cooler on a hot, humid summer’s day, and that is probably when I I might be willing to have another. My overall impression of this beer is that it is a bit better than some of the fruit/wheat beers I’ve tried and the wheat/tangerine makes a good combination. But it is a bit too much like a soda to suit my tastes.

Poured out as a hazy orange color with a nice looking white head on it. The beer doesn't have much lacing. The smell is heavy with tangerine with light aromas of wheat. The taste is very strong with tangerine, it almost tastes like perfume or something. It's a little too strong I think. The mouthfeel is light and refreshing perfect for those days when it's hot out. Overall it's not bad but the flavor is a bit on the potent side.

This was on special at one of the few places in my hometown that has a really decent selection of good brews. Served in a 20 oz. weizenbier glass.

A: Less cloudy than most wheat beers. The color was the most impressive aspect of this beer for me. It had a moderately thick head with nice lacing all the way down the empty glass.

S: Strong tangerine and light floral notes.

T: Very little wheat or hop flavor. Half way through the glass it started to remind me of cough syrup. Bitter citrus zest flavor overpowered all other flavors that might have been lurking in there.

M: Medium carbonation, mildy creamy. Not bad at all.

O: I had high hopes, and I really tried to enjoy this beer but the medicinal quality of it really ruined it for me.

On tap at Pi on Broadway, notes from phone 3-3-11

A- Hazy orange body with a very small white head even after agitation

S- Sweet citrus fruits

T- Sweet tangerines, very sweet. Some wheat under it but not a whole lot

M- Medium body and moderate carbonation, good for the style

D- Very much a fruit beer trying at a wheat not the other way around. This one is very sweet so it's difficult to have more than one.

A cloudy orange with a ton of carbonation and good retention. The nose smacks of orange and tangerine, like Tang! and nothing else. The taste is all OJ again. The mouthfeel is creamy but quite dry. Not the best of this style but may be a good substitute for a mimosa at brunch.

Had on tap in a bar at Mt. Shasta in California.

Had a foamy white head which went away pretty quick. The beer is a hazy orange color and smells of, well, oranges. Like orange candy, actually. It pretty much covered up anything else that might be present in the smell.

The taste of the beer knocked me back a couple steps and not in a good way. This beer tastes like Windex smells. I realize that what I'm tasting is probably orange zest from orange peels but I just can't get cleaning solution out of my mind. A good hop presence keeps the beer from being completely one dimensional.

I would recommend this beer to people really into fruit beers but I could live my whole life and never have this again.

Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat Beer...on tap

Appearance-light orange color with a white head that doesn't linger too long. Disappears quickly.

Smell-obvious aroma of sweet fruit, lemon peel, sugar, alcohol mix.

Taste/Mouthfeel-overwhelming sweetness, fruit flavor is lost as the sugar and sweetness mixed with alcohol makes for an orange soda like taste, not at all appealing, very light watery mouthfeel. On the end is an aspirin like aftertaste.

Drinkability-too sweet, too muddled, too syrupy

Overall-I normally hate to trash a beer but for me this one honestly crashed and burned, not at all a good mix of flavors.

Great Summer Session Beer!

Good in bottle - Better on Tap! Can adjust CO2 for better head and head retention.

Light cloudy orange appearance with a bright tangerine smell.
Strong tangerine taste on front, followed by surprising lingering fuller wheat complexity, nice alcohol burn, and bright lemon finish that begs for another sip!

Warning if you don't go right back for that other sip a baby aspirin taste creeps in.

ALL In All - A Great Breakfast Beer that you can continue to drink all day!
Remember - You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!

On-tap while visiting down in FL.

A - Very orange, yet quite refreshing in appearance. It was a hot day, so it looked great to me! Slight orangish tint to the white head as well.

S - Graininess - wheat of course, and A LOT of citrus from the tangerine. Some yeast in the background as well.

T - In you face Tangerine. Way stronger than I was expecting, they are not a'foolin' around. Somewhat disappointing as a result, way too juicy and orange soda-like.

M - Overly carbonated. From the first sip, this was very fizzy - way too much so, and it really ruined the beer for me.

D - One was enough, and although it was drinkable on a hot day, I wouldn't order it again.

*Now I'm not usually a fan of these Shock Top Esque American Wheat Beers but this one took me by surprise by how balanced the sweet tangerine and hop bitterness was.

A: Orange in hue with a fuzzy head.

S: Citrus, Tangerine, American Hops

T: Malty Tangerine with some hop flavor. Tastes almost like a tangerine cool-aid beer.

MF: slightly High carbonation. Thick mouthfeel due to the wheat.

D: one of the most refreshing ales I've had so far. This is perfect for spring/summer on the beach, bbq, Poolside, anywhere in the sun basically. This beer is alot more intricate in flavor and aroma than beers like shock-top or blue moon IMO.
