Service is where this place shines. The selection of bottled beer is limited but well sourced, and the beers on tap number 4-5 but are invariably of good to excellent quality. The majority of the store is dedicated to wine, but the owner, Joe, and staff, Amanda, are well informed in regards to beer and if they do not know something they will research it. Also they often have local beer on tap, which is kind of nice. This is not near the level of Sam's Quick Shop, but really what is? If you want to buy from a local merchant and don't want to drive all the way to Sam's in Durham you should give this place a whirl.

This is a nice little place off Rogers Rd in Wake Forest. Being close to where I work, I was compelled to stop in. The bottle selection was pretty impressive. A great selection of bombers and 4/6 packs. There was even a small cooler to mix a six. There's a small bar area with 8 drafts, though the owner told me it'd be 12 in no time. Solid draft choices. The day I was in they had Green Flash West Coast IPA, Green Flash Imperial IPA, Great Divide Titan IPA, Coney Island Sword Swallower, and SN Tumbler along with a few NC taps.
In N. Raleigh or in Wake Forest, you're at the mercy of what Total Wine or the grocery store has to offer in terms of craft beer. This place has selections you can't find at either. I purchased SN Bigfoot, two Mikkeller bombers, Life and Limb, and Lagunitas Gnarleywine just to name a few. They also have a decent selection of Greenman growlers that are hard to come by in the triangle.
The only down side is that you can't break up 6 packs, and the cooler for mixing a six is quite small. There may have been 20-30 beers available for mixing.
If you're in the area it's most definitely worth stopping by. The prices are slightly higher than total wine, but after a pint or two and browsing the better (though smaller) selection, you'll let an extra go for sure.

Nestled away in the sleepy hamlet of Wake Forest is a terrific store that has one of the best selections of craft beer in Raleigh.
Don't let the name (Wine 101) fool you---There is a wall full of top-notch craft beer from some of the best breweries that distribute in NC--Founders, Bells, Terrapin, Bear Republic, Southern Tier, Sweetwater and many, many more. They also have a small cooler with some chilled beer available as well.
The staff is terrific, and will special order beer for you if you ask. They are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Does buying beer make you thirsty? Well, you are in luck. They have several taps available, always with some very good selections. Right now they have Southern Tier UnEarthly IPA on tap. You can buy a glass, and sip while shopping or relax at a small table inside the store.
Oh yeah...they also have a really good selection of wine...
So, save a trip to Raleigh and get your beer here...you won't be disappointed!
