Pours a deep amber color with no head whatsoever, even poured straight down the middle of the glass (I'm beginning to see a pattern here). Smells sweet, and faintly of roasted malt. No hop aroma that I can detect. There's actually some hop flavor, though. Not much, just enough to balance out the slightly sweet malty flavor. Mouthfeel is heavy and pretty much zero carbonation. Overall, it's slightly more adventurous than Sail and Anchor's Golden Ale, but still lacking in flavor.

From Dannos. No BB.
Gusher. Pours Amber, and for a second looks the biz. Then the head dies and it goes 100% clear. Little lace.
Aromas are muted, bready malts.
Taste is also dull and lifeless. Mild toffee malts in mid palate, but nothing after, save staleness.
Mouthfeel is OK... but rescuing a disaster.
S&A can - and need to - do better with these brews, that are chewing up mainstream store space and taking the craft beer movement back decades.

Pours deep amber with a small white head.
Nose shows soft vegetal notes, caramel and faint nutty notes. Pretty weak.
Pretty plain flavours. A bit of caramel and nutty malt but other than that just grainy malt.
Body feels watery.
Pretty boring stuff.

Number two in the free beer taste test: Boa's Bind Amber Ale. Let's see the Lark's Foot Golden Ale was average at best, however I'm crossing my fingers that the Amber Ale will be decent, after all it has six different malts AND Chinook and Cascade hops to boot!
Poured from a 345ml bottle into a nonic pint ("Old Nonni" as I like to call it).
A: Appears as a deep amber, bordering on rust, clear body with a light dusting of white coloured head.
S: Citrus grapefruit hops upfront with a malt biscuit base and a dash of herbaceous/peppery hops (like the aroma of Rocket) in the background.
T: The grapefruit flavoured hops hit first, more muted than expected from a craft brew, leading to a solid but unremarkable biscuit malt base and followed by a peppery note and a mild bitter finish. All in all lacking a little in the flavour department considering the amount of malts and quality of hops used, otherwise it's ok.
M: Mid to light body, light carbonation.
D: Not really competing in the Amber Ale market as this is more of an American Pale Ale in flavour profile, and taking this into account it is a better brew than the Lark's Foot Golden Ale, but a lessor brew than most other APA's, not even in the ball-park of a Sierra Nevada or Murray's Nirvana. Really lacks the kick-in-the-pants wallop of a good APA and this is starting to become a theme with the new Sail & Anchor brews.
Food match: A mild curry and rice, something like a beef massaman or a chicken tandoori with coconut and basmati rice respectively.

Im abit weary about this as i picked it up at Dan Murphys and if you believe the back spiel it states this was brewed with 6 different malts and cascade and chinook hops anyway it pours a light copper hue with a one finger head and a rim of lacing, the smell is abit weird definately lots of toffee malts along with sour cherries,a slight herbalness and a stale pub smell, the mouthfeel is light bodied with spritzy carbonation and if 6 malts were used i dont notice them, the taste is cherry candy, herbal hops, boiled candy, burnt toffee and finished with a herbal tea bitterness, overall this is definately abit different in a bad way and i dont think i believe the back label that much and wont buy again but better than Dry Dock thats for sure.
