5 Vulture is a deep ambered-colored ale with complex caramel aromas with toasted sugar notes and a long, elegant spicy finish. Roasted ancho chile is used to add depth and complexity, without adding heat or strong chile flavors.

Listed as a "Dark Ale" at Bad Apple, served in a tapered 5 Rabbit pint glass. Review from written notes.
Reddish hazy copper, lasting head of tan foam on top. Foam sticks a bit, but not really leaving any lasting lace. Head retention is good, as it lasted for the duration of the glass. Malty, yeasty aroma, pleasant but slightly muted.
Caramel malt, some toastiness, fruity yeast and peppery spice. Ancho gives it a nice lingering spicy sweet heat in the aftertaste, subtle and nuanced. Successfully balanced without numbing heat, which can be rare in a Chile Beer. Definitely a little bit smoky, pretty malt forward. Medium carbonation, easy to drink. Paired well with food. An interesting first effort from this fledgling brewing company. Expectations are high since Mr. Mosher is involved, and this is a unique beer... a dark ale with ancho chiles added.

16oz draft pour into a pint glass shows a bubbly dark brown body briefly floats a 1" cocoa brown head leaving no lacing.
Aroma is an almost metallic ale carbonation.
Flavor is almost exclusively chili heat with a little caramel malt.
Mouthfeel is light and nimble, clean and numbing from the chili.
Overall I was surprised by the heat, but it is clearly well made.

12oz.
Duvel Tulip
A - Brown with a reddish hue. No lacing and little to no head from an aggressive pour
S - Hops and ancho chile
T - Hoppy initial taste with a peppery finish
F - Becomes toasty as the beer warms with a bitter coating
O - A good beer in the style, but not a style I usually look for. Would buy again if I'm in the mood for ancho chile

Unknown vintage; drank 7/11/14 @ the Yarchives.
Poured from a bottle into a glass.
Brown/red murkiness.
Khaki head; minimal lace.
Brown sugar & mild spice heat in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Mild coffee & hint of banana up front, with a touch of pepper heat on the finish. A nice enough dark session beer.

7/19...pours dark brown, fast fizzy bubbles, no foam on top. Dark malty nose, caramels, smoky. Slight peppery spice. Taste is a light sweet malt which swings swiftly to an ancho spice burn. Kept in check, but a nice smooth burn. Milk chocolate sweetness in the background. Very interesting.
