Easy to overlook this unassuming local watering hole (I often forget it's there even though I only live a 20 minute walk away), which largely caters to a regular after-work crowd. The entire establishment is basically one small room with a bar running most of the length of the structure. There are benches and tables as well running along the wall opposite the bar, leaving a narrow space to traverse should you choose to utilize their restroom or check out the back patio (no drinks allowed outside though).

The atmosphere is usually festive and people are more likely to be engaged in a game of Loteria than they are in watching sports (though the TVs do come on for this reason or to play a movie once in a while). Busy yet relaxed.

The selection of beer and wine rotates with the former focusing largely on Belgian and German imports on draft with a few NorCal standbys usually available as well. The bottle list is small but decent, though prices are always at least double retail ($3 for a 12oz Velvet Merlin, $23 for a 750mL Chimay Blue). On my most recent visit I noted Weihenstephaner Hef and Korbinian, Aventinus Eisbock, Chimay, Grimbergen, a Belgian Kriek, Shipyard's XXXX IPA, and perhaps a few other offerings I've since forgotten.

Beers are all served in either a shaker pint or a Chimay goblet...so not "appropriate" glassware per se. The quality is OK, though I suspect they don't clean their lines as frequently as the premier beer bars in town, which does seem to dull the flavors of the beers I ordered. Their sangria is tasty and frequently on special as well...

Service is friendly though often a bit rushed if you aren't a regular. I've also been slightly overcharged while my friends have had their cards misplaced by the staff...maybe best to stick with cash.

Not sure if they ever serve food (can't imagine where there would be a kitchen), though they often pair up with the taco joint next door to offer discounts for special events.

While Tony's Darts Away will continue to get most of my business in the valley, Bar One is a nice place to meet up with friends and neighbors on occasion.
