This place is tucked in the side of a dollar general and the windows are packed with beer signs, but no real indication that there is craft beer. Being about 20 min, of the toll road and on the way to apple picking I had to stop.
The beer is all the way in the back of this packed little store. A few cooler doors of BMC and some big singles of those but the other half of the cooler doors (about 6) are all craft beer mostly from Michigan. They had about 4-6 varieties from each brewery. They had Greenbush, Founders, Bells, Shorts, Round Barn, North Peak and a Dark Horse aswell. They have some other craft beer 4 packs and 6 packs but it was a good standard mix, nothing rare or must-have. Off to the left is the warm beer and it was mostly bombers mixed with some wines and a few other 6 packs I thing. Nothing to exciting and not really any thing local but some solid craft names. Everything that I looked at either didn't have a date or was withing the drink by date.
When I went to check out the lady working the register was friendly and we talked about her grand kids in sports, and the guy behind me even offered to help carry my beer so I didn't have to make two trips.
It is worth a stop in if you are looking for MI beers and traveling through or need some camping beers but don't expect to find any rare gems. There is a nice produce store on the other side of the street that has some pretty good deals if you need to load up before you head back on the toll road.

I will never return to this store again.
The counter person had his blue-tooth clipped to his ear and was holding a conversation (in a foreign language) the entire time we were in there, and when we asked a question, he asked US to hold on.
When he managed to squeeze us in between sentences in his phone conversation , he was nearly impossible to understand. We never knew if he was talking to us or the person on the other end. That would be OK if the store was in a predominately Middle Eastern neighborhood, but that is hardly the case in Bell Plaza.
I've been in retail for a long time, and this is totally unacceptable behavior. I'm not saying the customer is always right, as they are quite often assholes, HOWEVER, the customer ALWAYS comes first. Hang the damned phone up, put them on hold, whatever, but focus your attention to them. They put the food on your table. If this was the owner (I had the feeling he was), hire somebody to work on Friday nights that the customer can understand.
I used to shop here quite often when I lived in Niles, and when visiting. It was convenient, and I like spending my money in my home community.
From now on, Belmont Beverage, here I come.

I stumbled across this place a little over two years ago on a Sunday trip into Michigan. I didn't have high hopes for this place to be honest but they have surprised me each time I have gone in.
A- Just a smaller one stop shop with a bigger selection of wine, liquor, and beer. Alcohol is their main purpose and they cater toward that. Reminds me of a adult style mom and pop store.
Q- Beer is usually keep in the right places. What I mean by that is if it says keep refrigerated you will find it in the cooler. Also, I have never ran across old beer which can be a problem with other stores in the area.
S- I have always been greeted everytime I have walked into the store. I like the fact the actually ask you if you need help and let you know what new things have come in. Also, if you need something they don't have there just ask...chances are they will order it for you.
S- There is a nice selection of harder to find Michigan beers like Short's for example. I can never find this stuff so close to the Indiana/Michigan border. Also, it is not uncommon to find limited release beers from Founder's and Dark Horse here on a regular basis. Some smaller breweries are also in the mix along with some regional big ones. Everything comes in their respective packaging (6pk, 4pk, 22oz,750ml) so that means no mix a six. Also, you can many times find gift packs that have been out everywhere else. Just a nice selection overall. Just wish that maybe they had a small mix a six selection...just maybe??
I was worried about putting this place in the system because I didn't want to lose out on this hidden gem. Close to the Indiana border for all those people who want to know where to go for a Michigan beer run (about a 10 minute drive from Notre Dame). I can not stress enough about how great their customer service is. I have gotten many things ordered in here I didn't think they would be able to get but they surprised me. Please help keep this store a mainstay in what seems to be a beer wasteland that is Niles.
