Dark brown, cola, ruby, garnet, and a little cloudy it seems. Thin head from the start, but there's always a layer of foam atop this brew.

Roasted and toasted malts mix with a dry yeasty, somewhat fruity aroma. A little powdered cocoa aroma.

Heavy toast but with some heavy yeast fruit flavors and powdery dryness. Some roasted malts make there presence known. A little too dry and yeasty for me, but still a good beer worth trying I think.

This pours a brown color with a small, light brown head. The scent is not very complex but has hints of sweetness and malts. The texture is pretty thin and there isn’t a whole lot going on with the flavor. For being a brown ale, I was a little surprised with how bitter it was. Average at best and could use some work.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a DFH tulip.

A: Pours a deep , burnt mahogany brown with 1 1/2 fingers of light khaki colored foam on top. Retention was good with a thick ring remaining after the head slowly receeded. Nice sticky lace was left behind to decorate the glass.

S: Faint/mild notes of cocoa, caramel, fudge, and cherry. As it warmed up, I noticed a slight damp tree bark aroma.

T: Everything in the smell is present here, but in an even milder form. Sadly, getting warmer didn't improve matters.

M: Suprisingly full and pillowy with a nice hoppy tingle towards the finish.

O: I wasn't blown away by this. Dial up the chocolate, put it in cans, and you might have something.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

A bit of a belated celebration for da Bears' victory this afternoon (thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for defense, amiright?). It pours a seemingly murky sunset sienna topped by a half-finger of dirty tan foam (and my pour really wasn't all that conservative...). The nose is pretty damn muted altogether, meekly comprising earthy greens, mild wood, and a touch of what may or may not be some dark chocolate powder. The taste, on the other hand, has some actual life in it, with notes of weak coffee, earthy greens, limp toffee, mild graham cracker, and a pinch of brown sugar. Everything just kinda sits on the tongue, malingering to some degree, not really doing much of anything but lazing about. (Damn, I hope that makes sense...) The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a kinda sad little brown ale, one that just doesn't do it for me. I was hoping Finch's would eventually grow on me, but, so far, things just haven't worked out between us...
