Murky reddish amber pour, served in a dimpled mug. Thin layer of light tan foam spreads across the surface, and eventually fades after the first few sips. Some random flecks of lacing are left behind.
Some husky grains, maple, light fruity plum esters, earthy hops. Seems a little bit subdued, though it's not very cold.
Moderately bitter with a green leafy hop character and a touch of aspirin in the back of the throat. Sweet and malty with a burly hop bitterness to it. Medium bodied and riding the line between coarse and smooth. A touch of something vaguely fruity before the bitterness rolls in. I'm liking the yeast that's used, lends a bit of plum sweetness. Easy enough to drink, it's a big hoppy red ale with a fairly well hidden abv.
