$7.99 for a 22oz bomber @ BevCo. My first beer from Finch's BC. Brewed with caramel malts, rye, and hopped with Palisade and Zythos.
OG=18.2, FG=2.9, 14 SRM, 72 IBU, 8.0% ABV.
Pours out to a slightly cloudy deep red amber, forming a nice whipped yellow head with good retention and lacing. Mild to moderate carbonation, ~2.2 carbs or so. The aroma is nice with mostly citrusy and fruity hops (mango, pear) and a nice touch of pine on top of the crystal malt nose. Mouthfeel is smooth, quite tart for the style, medium-bodied and a touch syrupy. Bitterness is firm, but balanced with the big malt body. Grain husks and grapefruit pith in the finish. Clean ferment. Not boozy. Lots of late addition hops. A touch of pepper in the aftertaste. A touch of crystal 90-120, raisins, toast. This reminds me of a beer somewhere between the mouthfeel and body of arrogant bastard and the flavor/maltiness/bitterness of old guardian. ..kinda between a red IPA and a barleywine.
Nice job. Since this was my first from them, I'll have to give their others a try. I could see myself buying this again if it actually cost less than either Stones, but it doesn't.

Pours an effervescent copper/amber with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Stellar lacing & nice head retention
S: Pears, toastyness, orange rinds & tangerine; plus breadyness & biscuitty malt
T: Follows the nose, toastyness in abundance, along with some wood hops & grapefruit. Pineyness, woody hops, tangerine rind, plus breadyness as this warms. Finishes fruitty, citrussy, dry with a touch of boozeyness, plus pine
MF: Medium bodied, creamy carbonation, great balance
A super solid red, easily the best of the line up I've had so far. So easy to drink, especially for the ABV. A great old school amber/red!

Pours a dark amber with a nice two-finger head into my glass. Canned, bottled, I don't care. I'll drink it. The color is spot-on.
For a stronger amber ale, there's more buttery malt than anything upfront with some pine hop residue. Reminds me more of an American Strong Ale.
The taste is a swerve: more citrus than pine here. Mango. Must be the hops they're using. Adds a nice contrast to the malt. I like it.
Mouthfeel resembles that of an American Strong Ale as well. It's as close to a barleywine as you can get without actually brewing a barleywine. Lingering buttery malt and citrus/pine hop notes.
Very nice. I wasn't expecting much at first but I'm glad I picked this up. You should too. Not sure how fresh this can is but it's still tasty regardless.

A: Dark maroon color with dark orange and red hughs its hazy apperance. The sustaining head, a light kahki color, retains well even as its being sipped.
S: Juciy fruit gum, kiwi and strawberry hop aroma climb to the top of the rich malt aroma. Rye and biscuity with no alcohol detected.
T: An upfront rye, bread crust and toasty malt profile washes over the pallet first in a plesantly unexpected way. Bitterness is strong and keeps the sweetness in check, but doesn't get fatiguing as your reach the half way mark of the 16oz can. There is a muffled troppical fruit hop flavor at the tail that the rye over takes.
M: Oily mouthfeel coming through from all the rye (wondering if oats are in the grist also) low carbonation with a middle-high amount of body. No astringancy that i can detect.
O: This is my favorite normal run Finch beer for sure. I tend to get very similar flavors from their other usuals (Threadless, Golden, etc) likley due to the same yeast strain they use for all of their beers (confirmed on the tour). But this one has enough character and flavor to be a winner.

16oz can into a nonic.
Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a one finger white head. Not very good head retention at all but the lacing is decent leaving some clumps on the sides of the glass.
Aroma is extremely malty right off the bat. Lots of caramel and toffee along with a slight bit of toast. Earthy hops are also quite prominent with some pine and tree bark. The spicy rye also makes an appearance.
The flavor largely follows the aroma. Lots of caramel, toffee, and pine along with a decent amount of rye thrown in for good measure. There is a little bit of dark fruit but not prominent at all it just adds a little bit of depth. Bitterness is on the moderate side but remains restrained leading to a moderately sticky finish.
Overall, a decent strong red ale and a different brew from all the IPA's and IIPA's out there. Another good beer from Finch's.

$2.99 16oz can with no bottling date poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint Glass.
Appearance: A super hazy, red-orange brown color. More simply... copper colored. There's a finger or two of a light brown head. It doesn't last too long, but bubbles float on top and to the sides of the glass throughout the glass. A lot of sediment at the bottom of the can that I poured into the beer made it even hazier, and some particles started floating around.
Smell: I figured this beer was probably dry-hopped, and it turns out that it was. A surprising hop nose on this one. Subtle, sweet, piney... pleasant.
Taste/feel: A bit weird for me. The flavor of the beer itself is pretty solid, but it changes dramatically between sips. One moment it's immensely bitter, and the next it's super sweet. It changes a lot throughout the same sip, as well -- sweet start, super bitter finish. I like a subtle change to add depth, but this one's pretty big. A good malty sweetness is generally at the front though, followed by a decent brunt of bitterness, with only a little bit of hoppy flavor. It's like Finch's tried to balance this beer, and it just backfired. The label also mentions rye being in this beer -- now that I've read that fact, I can sort of taste it. It's definitely in the background, though. The feel on Fascist Pig is creamy smooth, with a pretty light carbonation, which is good -- a prickly carbonation with this kind of bitterness would be killer. The can says this beer is 72 IBUs, but it tastes more like 100.
I like, but don't like this beer ... I like the name and label of Fascist Pig, and in an ODD way, it somewhat explains the beer. On one hand, I love the way that this beer smells and feels, but on the other, the balance is out of whack and just unusual. I'd definitely drink it again -- it's interesting, pretty fairly priced, and most importantly, pretty tasty.
Strangely compelling would be the best way to describe Fascist Pig.
