Availability: Summer. on-tap (1), can (1)

Notes:
As an homage to the dozen or so fruit stands that line the streets of Kensington Market, we've brewed a light and crisp wheat beer flavoured with watermelon. Fermented with a California ale yeast, this wheat beer is cleaner than most – no banana or clove here! Watermelon was added during fermentation and results in a mild but enjoyable watermelon aroma and flavour.

Fruit Stand is currently in the “testing” phase and will likely evolve over the summer as we hear input from the community. Try it and let us know what you think!

Got a can from a rep at the Ontario Brewing awards.

I have to assume that they tweaked the formula since NorthYorkSammy's review, as this isn't cloying at all.

Poured into a weisse glass, pale straw color with maybe a hint of rose at the upper edge (the widest part of the glass) - fine, champagne like carbonation leaves a thin but persistent head with some lacing.

The fruit comes through on the aroma, although I'm not sure I'd have known it was watermelon if it was a blind pour (my girlfriend guessed pineapple and berry, and I can see either). I get a bit of grain, which seems a little harsh. The flavor, also, is the tandem of the watermelon and the wheat - not a lot else, but it's one of the better fruit wheats I've had because it dries out and finishes with a fairly crisp herbal-watermelon thing. I'm interested to see what it's like on draft, but if it's comparable, I'd definitely grab one or two of these on a summer afternoon!

On tap at the Brewer’s Backyard event, entitled The Constitutional Draught. Nothing in the smell, but a syrupy infused sweet yes cloying flavouring joined in the wheat. Not too drinkable. A novelty, but also taking the Ontario craft scene back a couple of steps.
