Poured from the cask at Meridian Pint into a shaker pint. I got confused with this one at first because I thought the listing was Amaraillo HOPS not peppers... boy was I in for a surprise.
A very dark orange and cloudy chestnut brown body. Capped with a simple tan collar that still manages to populate itself while consuming. Kind of murky and not that attractive, and it's considerably darker than regular Wings.
Nose hits with a powdery sense, a little bit of density, but much of the hop profile is buried. Some of that nice softness malt smell from cask conditioning. It feels quite a bit neutered than regular Wings. Strangely never smelled pepper off of this.
Palate. Pure friggin heat and chili. Peppers everywhere, and palate destroying. Heat and fire and burns all the way down, luckily not sweating hot but hot enough to get no tastes or flavors of anything else from regular wings. Mouthfeel does coat and has that buttery feeling cask quality, but it's an afterthought as the dryness takes over from the pepper insanity.
If you are a chili head, then this beer is for you. If you are looking for the greatness of Wings of Armageddon this isn't it since all you will taste is pure pepper and burn. I literally could not drink or taste anything for half an hour after I had this, and had to dump 3/4 of this beer. Scoring this average for me personally is being very generous, but this was a great way to wreck a good brew. I do love spicy heat and food, but this went overboard.
