A black pour with a 1.5 finger tan head leads to an inviting nose of cinnamon flavored graham cracker, chocolate and coffee. Palate is medium bodied with a dark chocolate/molassas-like sweetness balanced against a coffee grounds-like roastiness- good robust characteristics tucked into the creamy nougat-like malty delivery. The bitterness is moderate, brings out some hoppy dark green leaf tones and lasts until the lingering dry black-malt carries the finish with a bit of roasty, acrid twang.

Definitely in the running for my favorite CK so far. If I want something easygoing I'll take the J. Henry Mild Brown Ale. If I want a bit of a kick, I'll take this Dead Earth.
