Served on-tap in a plain, tumbler pint glass at Tullycross Tavern & Microbrewery in Manchester, Conn.
A: Light, golden yellow color with a pale, hazy hue beneath a one-finger head of bone-white foam which left some nice lacing on the glass, but faded a little prematurely.
S: Rich, spicy and fruity with loads of lemon zest, white pepper and floral hops in the nose. A bit tangy with a snappy, wheaty scent also.
T: Smooth, sweet and citrusy up front, with plenty of lemon, orange rind and spicy hints of grapefruit abound. Loads of peppery, minty flavors jump from the Belgian yeast as well, imparting some white pepper and spicy, floral notes to the herbal hop profile. Flashes of spearmint and lemongrass wash the brew back with a touch of boozy heat, yet refreshing, citrusy flavors.
M: Medium-bodied Saison with a tart, spicy feel and a little yeast left over to chew on.
O: This was a really nice American Saison with plenty of sweet, bright flavors to keep me interested as well as delicate, yet bold spices to liven up the party. The 6.9% ABV is nearing the ceiling, so that alcohol bite stabs a little, but doesn't detract from its drinkability.
