500mL bottle into weizen glass
A: very bright gold body with streaming lines of carbonation. very dense bright white head. bustling. good retention and thick lacing.
S: the aroma is very banana-y. no hop aromas. a little bit clove-like as well. the banana is impressive/interesting considering the yeast has been removed.
T: a very obvious, but light, banana flavor. chewy, flavorful wheat. finish is a little sweet and leaves a pleasant fruitiness on the palate.
M: moderate carbonation on a light/medium body.
D: very tasty brew. easy drinking with plenty of fruit presence. wouldnt hate to come across more of these in the future.

Appearance: Clear, orangish yellow.
Smell: Wheat, banana, and light orange peel. Light lemon.
Taste: Light banana and citrus. Small tart aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Crisp.
This is a great brew. I've never had a Kristalweizen before (I don't believe), but it is quite refreshing. It is crisp and smooth, and has a banana and citrus taste and smell. This certainly has the earmarks of a Hefe, but is more refreshing than most. I would get this again.

What a nice beer, An excellent wheat beer, very light and fruity. Gentle banana and othe rwheat esters. Slightly over-carbonated, but that's to be expected from the bottle.
Crystal clear, with a nice white foam. Easy on the mouth a crisp and refreshing gentle giant.

Not a bad deal picked up a bottle of this for $3.29 shipped to my door. Thanks halftime beverage!
A - Light golden in color, clear, and with a fluffy head that receded into a patchy ring. Some lacing but it seems to be carbonated well.
S - Bready dough, fresh wheat of course, and a touch of lemon and grass makes for a great Weizen.
T - Well it's very tasty the levels of lemon and wheat seem to be perfectly balanced. Fresh sourdough bread taste is excellent with a great hop balance to boot. Tasty stuff.
M - Drinks with more of a medium body finding myself sipping it and really enjoying the flavors.
Overall these are the best examples of the style. Not as tasty as the Weizenbock but I think I prefer it to the Hefeweizen simply for it's easier drink ability.

Poured from a 1L bottle (only $2.50 at RSVP!)
This beer poured with a large two finger head that lingered quite a long time before subsiding into a fairly stable and persistent foamy coating on the top. The nose here is all cloves with a hint of fruity banana in the background.
The tast is much more subdued and subtle than the nose would suggest, it is highly carbonated (much more so than I expected, it really pops on the palate). Flavors of yeast, warm bread dough and, hay(?) come to mind, perhaps some lemon grass or citrus on the back of the palate.
A very nice beer overall, mine may be a little colder than it ought to be, it will be interest to see how its flavor changes as it warms up.
A delightfully light beer, great example of the style and one hell of a deal at $2.50.

Pours a crystal clear golden color with a voluminous cap of white foam. Aroma smells prominently of banana and clove, with some yeast as well. Taste is consistent with the aroma--banana, clove, and a velvety mouthfeel courtesy courtesy of the character of the yeast and perky carbonation. The appearance is obviously a stark contrast to that of the unfiltered hefeweiss, but the flavor holds up admirably in spite of this. It's noticeably thinner in body and slightly less full of flavor, yet it captures that signature hefeweiss essence. A flavorful and refreshing brew.

Type: 500ml bottle
Glass: Pilsner glass
From: K&B Wine Cellars in Allied Gardens (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $3.99
Purchased: April 19, 2013
Consumed: April 20, 2013
Misc.: Part of the bottle reads “Brewed under the purity law, of 1516.”
Poured a golden straw clear color with 4-5 fingers of pillowy head. Average-to-below average wet watery lacing. Below average-to-minimal retention on the top.
Completely different smells from skunky malts to banana and cloves. The banana and cloves (hefeweizen) seemed to take over. Grassy malts as well.
Tasted much smoother than the smell. Hefeweizen notes - banana, cloves, sweet sugary lemon notes, a bit of Circus Peanuts dominate here. Skunky, grassy, bready malt backbone won’t go away though and is what ends up on my tongue when it’s all said and done.
Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, refreshing finish.
Another good beer by Weihenstephaner, but not my favorite by any means. The others I’ve had were better.
