From a 375 ml into a tulip. (Caveat, not sure if this Surette is the same as the older Surette?)
A-A normal pour produces more than one, but less than two fingers of dense, shiny, off-white head. The brew is murky, and golden-orange in color with some visible carbonation.
S-The smell is mildly tart and lactic. I get a decent amount of funk and brett-like scents, as well as some lemon curd flavor. Par for the Crooked Stave course, I guess.
T-I taste mild tartness, with a decent hit of sweetness. There is some mild citrus that transitions to a drying oak flavor. Not terribly complex, but not unpleasant.
M-This brew has a nice feel. A creamy wave of carbonation gives way to slightly wet feeling finish. True to the style.
O-Although this is a decent saison, with some nice flavors and an above-average mouthfeel, this is far from the most intriguing beer I have had from Crooked Stave. It lacks the complexity and intrigue of the old-world styles and it isn't exactly a hit-you-on-the-head new-world monster (with tons of flavor or pucker power). Instead, this is a decent effort, but nothing I need to search out.

Poured a cloudy straw to golden orange body. Head was a finger or less of crisp clean white color that had limited retention which provided for no lacing.
Aroma was a fantastic medley of citrus and sour notes. Orange, pear, lemon, sour brett, and some earthy spice notes (peppery, grains of paradise) all came together to leave my mouth watering in excitement for what the flavor may hold.
Taste was an upfront sour note that quickly gave way to a lemon and pear crisp fruity flavor before finishing with a dry spicey character similar to that of white peppercorns. It reminded me of a very well done wit beer that happened to have sour brett notes blended in perfect harmony which accentuated the citrus and spice notes.
Mouthfeel was a tangy medium to highly carbonated sour much as the aroma and taste would have you expecting. Finish was dry crisp and clean, most likely a product of the pepper like spice at the end.
Overall a very impressive beer that I would gladly seek out again as it hits on all of my favorite sour notes while blending in some unusual characteristics that really gave this one some additional life.

Thanks to womencantsail for sharing this one at GRG1313’s tasting.
Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, and sour aromas. Taste is much the same with some sour fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

375ml bottle $6.99. Bright yellow-orange color, decent head that disappeared quickly, looks nice in a wine glass. Aroma is pretty much all brett to me, a bit of that animal funk and a tinge of lemon, not bad. Flavor is more brett and it does have a slight tartness to it as described on the label. Overall this was a decent beer but I just think most of the Crooked Stave beers are priced higher than the quality of the beer.

a hazy orange/copper pour with 2 fingers of bright white head which gave off lots of nice lacing. smells of belgian saison yeast, bread, slightly funky/barnyard scents of hay, coriander, somewhat of a citrusy scent coming off in the finish. slightly tart/sour, flavors of banana and orange sneak their way in up front, a tangy flavor overall. heavy on the funky flavors with this one.. corks, wine, bready.
a nice medium body with high carbonation makes this a very nice and refreshing beer which makes the funky flavors go down easily.
i really like this saison. a very refreshing and flavorful beer. quite funky, but i can't really tell if there is brett in this or not. you don't taste much of the oak barrel aging either, but that's usually the case in the recent handful of sours i've had.. though this is not a sour. definitely one of the better saisons i've had.

A: Hazy orange amber in color. Forms a modest fizzy white head that reduces down to a ring around the edges and some light lacing.
S: Aroma is all Brett: pineapple and horseblanket. Light tropical fruit sweetness mixed with a bit of funky farm stable.
T: Taste is Brett forward as well, but not so much as the aroma. Mild to moderate sweetness with lots of fruit: apple, pineapple, and a touch of lemon. Then there is a slight sourness, sort of a lemony sourness, but it's balanced out by the sweetness. Almost a lemon-mereingue pie thing going on here. Mild green herbal quality on the finish.
M: Lighter bodied. Medium carbonation. Slightly slick mouthfeel.
O: If you like Brett, this one is all about it. If you don't, you may want to consider another beer. In the end, I enjoyed this one as it has a bit more punch than the typical Saison, but doesn't overdue it.

This poured out as a lightly hazy yellowish orange color with a white head on top. The retention is thin and the lacing is lightly scattered. The smell is funky, there is a plenty of lemon and fresh oak aromas. The taste is tart, it's very earthy in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is light bodied with a good carbonation. It's a juicy brew with a dry finish. Overall it's a pretty good brew. Worth trying.
