In my opinion, there are two reasons to come to this establishment:
1) Marble Brewery in Albuquerque
2) Odell Brewing Co. in Fort Collins
Since these breweries (for now) do not distribute to Texas, the Side Door is the only place you can find them and it's well worth the trip. I'm sure there are some others that don't make it to Texas and there are some delicious rarities that are constantly rotating, but Odell and Marble are solid year-round selections.
The Side Door sells all of its beer as individual bottles/cans. This is fantastic for those of us who like variety and enjoy sampling. However, it would be nice to be able to buy an intact six pack at a lower price per bottle. But, I prefer this to the alternative.
The staff is friendly, but don't seem to be very knowledgeable about craft beer or maybe they're all just that laid back. The store's inventory is heavily weighted toward liquor, so that might be another reason.
If you find yourself eating at the State Line, don't forget to swing by on your way out - they're open late.

I'm glad I found this liquor store, it has a good selection of beer but compared to most places in El Paso, it has an amazing selection.
Unfortunately I'm a bit of a craft beer junkie so I've tried most of the beers they have but it's a great place for me to go get some of my favorite brews.
And when I do feel like trying something new their 'create your own six pack' offer is a pretty decent deal. 6 beers for less than 10 bucks.
If you find yourself here and you have the time check out the BBQ place next door. Great food.

This is easily the best place to get beer in El Paso. They have well over 100+ varieties of craft beer available and the option to build your own six pack. They also feature beers that you can't find anywhere else in the city, IE Rochefort 10 and 6.
Its adjacent to a restaurant called State Line. You're allowed to purchase beers from the liquor store and enjoy them with your meal.
Though I'm sure Side Door pales in comparison to places outside of El Paso, it's definitely the best bet within the city to find a large selection of beer for a decent price.

Possibly the largest bottled selection in the city. Maybe even the region. They told me they have over 250 different beers.
They also let you build your own 6 pack, which after tax comes out to just under $10.
That makes Side Door the single best place to buy beer in the greater El Paso area. Huge selection, great price.
They even carry a few Trappist beers. Last time I went they had 3 different types of Chimay as well as Trappist Rochefort 10 (that one went for ~ $6 a bottle).
Great service. If they don't have a beer, they are willing to custom order it for you if you ask.
They apparently also have beer tastings too, though I haven't been to one yet.
Open till midnight every night. Right next door to State Line BBQ. According to their website, "Our address is Texas but we're in New Mexico."
