Upon arrival at the Greyhound station, I was met by my CouchSurfing hosts and taken here for beer. It was a good call.

The outside entryway had a couple of old fermentation tanks right in front of the building. The door opened onto a couple of tables and chairs to the right; several booths to the left; and the horseshoe-shaped, polished blonde wood bar straight ahead. Off to the extreme right and through an archway was the restaurant area. Even further right was a patio area, followed by "The Brewers' Den" - the brewhouse. It was not a huge place, but it had a great atmosphere and a friendly waitstaff.

Beers: Standards - Light Rail Cream Ale; Brewers' Den Hefeweizen; Brewers' Den Amber; Stinger Pale Ale; Trooper IPA; and Pot Belly Porter. They also were offering Uwe's Oulde Ale (9.1 %); Red Armadillo; and the Trooper IPA on cask. As one might expect, I started with the cask and switched to the standard IPA. Both were delicious.

A fun, cool place to eat and drink, the beer was great from the brewery and on the guest list. I like the layout of the building with an outdoor patio to chill in or in one of the two indoor areas. The food was good and the atmosphere very welcoming, take some friends, make sure to drink their stash and try a burger.

This is another smaller pub style Restaurant, nice place to stop and have a brew. A lot of neighborhood locals inside, cozy and friendly service. This was one of those places that forgot to bring my souviner glass that I odered ...which wasnt bad, but I didn't give them a perfect score because of that. Stop on in!

Stop #324 on my world brewery tour.

Visited on a Tuesday around 3:00 with my parents, wife, and 10-month old daughter. Not the ideal crew, but I needed to make the visit.

I had been here ~10 years ago when it was Sonoran Brewing (small sign still on the entry door). The bartender told me it was still the same guys but they sold the name and recipies to someone else.

Kept it pretty simple by my dad and I getting the sampler...

Cream Ale
Pale Ale
Amber Ale
IPA
Octoberfest
Irish Stout (with coffee)

And added specialty beers: cask red with Amarillo and XXX rye Pale (imperial and syrupy).

We both really liked the coffee Irish stout. All the beers were solid and I wish I had the opportunity to take better notes and enjoy more but I was driving and it wasn't the best situation to put my mom in.

Visited 3/4/2011 for RBWG 2011.

The place is broken into 2 sections, actually 2 seperate buildings. We sat in the second one, called the Brewers Den. Nice looking place. It was fairly empty on a Friday afternoon.

The servers were kind of upset that so many people wanted samples and over all they weren't real friendly. When we all ordered food and a lot of people ended up getting pints they got nicer but were still sarcastic. Then they got upset again when we wanted to split tabs. Didn't leave much tip (if any), which couldnt have made them happy either. It's one of those self fulfilling prophecies.

The food was good. I ordered a burger with blue cheese. Some of the beers were good. The standouts were the vanilla porter, the amber, and the IPA dryhopped with Amarillo hops.

If I was in the area and only with one or two other people I'd stop back in for the food and to see what's new on tap. But I wouldnt go back with a large group.

Was in Pheonix for a few days for work. Checked out the scene, this was my favorite watering hole.

Kind of a weird layout, you walk into what may have originally been a residential home. This is the main dining and bar area. Then adjoined is another dining area. Then there's the patio. Then connected to the patio is another bar area with all the brewing equipment jam packed into it. Watched some of the Big East conference tournament there. Had some treats, highlights were the cask ipa, the irish cream stout. Blue cheeseburger was excellent.

Staff is amazing. Beautiful girls (two in particular, both dark haired, one w/ glasses and sweet, one with curly hair, loud red lipstick and just loud, but both so sexy) who were attentive, complimentary and knowledgeable.

Definitely for locals, pretty much everyone around me is known by the staff by first name. Was taken care of nicely, offered plenty of tasters. Nothing too exotic selection wise, but hey, a cask, a double black ipa, an irish cream stout, this is a solid destination, and my favorite in Arizona.

Atmosphere- Pretty much a typical brewpub. A few sports-related TVs, but you sure couldn't call this a sports pub. The waitresses have a talent for identifying the regulars and abusing them just enough to be interesting. If you aren't a regular, they treat you you quite well. If you want to be treated like a regular, sit at the bar. I did, and I loved it. The wait staff was amazing. I really enjoyed the banter. The rest of the regulars seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as me.

Quality- The beer was excellent. I got the wings both days I was there. Quite good. My wife got the pulled pork sliders. She was not impressed.

Service- Like I said, there is a friendly and amusing banter between the waitresses and the regulars. For the non-regulars, you will be treated very well. As far as the service is concerned, this is one of the very best places I've ever been to. Not only are the waitresses attentive and professional, they actually know the beer! It's been a very long time since a wait staff impressed me this much.

Selection- This was the biggest problem. They only carry their own line of beers, and when they are out, they are out. They don't substitute in guest brews, they don't have kegs of vintage stuff just sitting around, nothing. What they did have was quite good tho. The IPA and cask IPA was quite nice. The red was world class.

Food- See above notes.

I decided to visit this place when I had their IPA on tap at a random pub in Phoenix. It is sort of small in a cozy way. 9 taps and a cask which they rotate. I had a Cask Porter with Cascade hops and it was a very well brewed robust porter that was exceptional as a cask ale. Wait staff was friendly. The menu had a few food pairing ideas but there could have been more. Prices were a bit high, but the food was good and the portions decent. All in all I will definitely recommend this place to friends.

SunUp has a good variety of their own beers and many are exceptional. Occasionally you can find something on cask and/or nitro. The whole place has a cool, intimate little pub feel to it that sets the perfect mood for a few pints.

Service has varied but never really bad. It can be busy at times, so I prefer the non-weekend nights. This is also better for the inadequate parking here, which is probably my only gripe with the place.

Servers seem to know a bit about their offerings and know the menu well. I really like the homemade potato chips here, though the veggie burger could use some improvement.

This is a must stop for BA's visiting the area, and is easy to find on the north side of Camelback.

Visited here on a slow Tuesday night after dinner. Only a few people were at the bar, and most seemed to be locals and beer geeks. So I was in good company. Tried a few of the house beers, including a brown ale, wheat, and porter, and all were decent to very good. I was especially excited to find a cask ale, which was darn tasty. Only one bartender, and she was a bit busy multitasking, but was very nice and attentive. Would definitely go back to try some more of their beers if I'm in the area again.
