Stopped in today after reading the previous reviews. I am seriously impressed with this place. I've been a long time advocate of the nearby (and excellent) kroger, but can see myself splitting future beer investments between the two.

While lacking in space this place makes the most of whats available, with a cold case and about 25 ft of shelving. Bear Republic, Bell's, and some other west coast brews not available in Roanoke. I would have rated the selection higher if there was more space devoted to beer, but some really good stuff tucked in here. By far the best part is the price. Very competitive with Kroger, and leaps and bounds ahead of the Manhattan pricing of Wine Gourmet.

Great little wine and craft beer shop in Roanoke, VA! Definitely worth the trip just to talk to the very informative and helpful staff! They're selection is always changing, which is great! Been recommended tons of beers and all have turned out to be excellent choices! And if what you're looking for isn't in stock, they can usually order it for you or order something similar to whatever it is. Every Friday they have beer tastings, which is very helpful in choosing your 'haul' for the day! Be sure to check em out and if you're into wine, they have that for you as well!

Mr. Bill's is definitely the best place to buy beer in Roanoke, VA! Mr. Bill and his staff are always incredibly helpful and friendly, and the store is awesome as well! There is a relatively small, but wonderful selection on the shelves. He tends to get some good rarities too, even though his allocation does not typically allow for multiple bottle purchases (think KBS, 120 IPA, special offerings from Stone, etc.). Regardless, he always has something I am interested in, and his prices are the best around. Not to mention the fact that I just enjoy going in and talking with the staff!

Breweries I usually find stuff from at Bill's include Terrapin, Stone, Dogfish Head, Founders, Bells, Lagunitas, Oskar Blues, Highland, along with some good local/regional stuff from Blue Mountain Barrel House and plenty more! I am sure we will see more and more new beers on his shelves in the years to come, assuming business continues to grow. Please support this awesome local store!

Note: He also has a great wine selection, in case you are interested in that : )

Very cool little shop, you feel comfortable in there immediately, although if they squeezed just one more bottle in the place, it might start feeling a little cramped. No matter. The guy behind the counter (Mr. Bill himself?) was amiable and informative, although I didn't need much help, and he wasn't overbearing.

The focus is totally on quality here, with the beer (which I'll assume is the case with their larger wine selection). Quality not quantity here, as far as the beer is concerned, and they had a few brand new releases (like the Heavy Seas Prosit Oktoberfest -- in August!). Stuff from Bear Republic, Dogfish Head, Smuttynose, and various other commonly-spotted U.S. and Belgian offerings. Found some breweries that were new to me, which really made the trip a truly worthwhile one: Dog Brewing (Maryland), DuClaw (Maryland) and Kysela Pere et Fils (ID, contract brewed by Laughing Dog). And more!

Definitely worth a trip for any beer geek visiting the area.

Went to Mr. Bills the other day for the first time. I had heard good things so I thought I would check it out. They have some decent beers but the selection is quite small. They said they can try to get most anything that is distributed to the area so if they do not stock things you want, ask and they may be able to order it. The prices seemed to be fair as well.

The staff was there and willing to assist with any questions you may have. They also sell most of their beers as singles or as 6-packs.
