Add this place to the vast multitudes of quality beer spots in Greenpoint/Williamsburgh/Brooklyn. Its a great combination of tasty growler fill options, quality brews in the cooler units and shrimpy shelves, condiments, spices, oils, cheeses, meats, breads, gourmet coffee etc. Friendly folks behind the counter at this beer forward speciality food shop. Hope they can attract enough foodie hipster to keep their doors open. I checked beermenus.com a few times over the summer and would be there plenty more if I was a local. Nice vibe, worthy place to support. I did notice a pinch in my wallet when gazing at the bottle options, but the growler price seemed more in line...

A very nice place in a quiet area of Williamsburg, each time I've gone I've parked right in front of the door. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a small shop with gourmet and artisanal food products and a small, carefully curated selection of bottles. I believe there are growler fills but I've yet to avail myself of that.
At the risk of blowing a quiet spot up, they do get limited releases and I have gotten Bourbon County Coffee, King Henry, Smoke from the Oak beers by Captain Lawrence, and the like, as well as cool stuff like Fritz Broem and Handbryggerit (sp?). Prices are on the high side but I imagine they are struggling to pay the rent here and aren't getting rich on Goose Island and Hudson Valley farmhouse cheddars.
Worth a visit to be sure. They are very forthcoming on the phone and have never hesitated to tell me if they do or don't have a hard-to-find beer. No subterfuge or games, no holding bottles or stuff in the back room.

Nice beer store in Eastern Williamsburg, close to the East River.
Came across this place because they had a rare offering on tap from Goose Island that other places in the city were charging ~ 5$ more for growler fills.
Condiments, cheeses, beers. Similar setup to Bierkraft, except with less food and much less overall selection (european, etc). That being said, their selection was good, mostly American craft brews. Captain Lawrence, Pretty Things, Stillwater, Ballast Point, the solid niceties, and from overseas, Mikkeler + few others. However, I noticed that the prices were around 2-3$ more for bottles than you'd pay at a place like Deciccos.
Opened in late 2010, it seems that they have a good idea of what beer nerds like. Will definitely visit again depending on what they have on tap.
Personally I stay away from bottles anywhere in the boroughs, but their growler prices will save you a few bucks.
