The guy at Crooked Stave told me about this place. Now I am telling you. STOP HERE! THis place rocks. Great beer selection, including some crooked stave kegs not found elsewhere. But lots of great taps, oh and the pizza is awesome. You know it is like fancier pizza, but not too fancy where you feel like a rich asshole eating it. Its very good and you can buy it by the slice if you just need one between high ABV beers.

This place is a Gem. One of the best beer lists I have ever seen ranging from RR Concecration and Pliny on tap to rare beers from Avery (Uberschwine anyone?) to countless others.
Easily the best beer list I have seen. possibly anywhere.
Pizza was freaking fantastic as well, I thought this was a beer bar with pizza, but no it is a pizza joint with beer. Best crust ever for thin crust pizza and enjoyed a bbq chicken pizza with Jalp, beans and a bunch of other goodies.
This one blew my socks off to say the least. will definitely be coming here again.

I have been going here since they opened. Great food, great owners and the best and in my opinion the best curated taps in Denver. Look out for their "biggest" little beer fest and tap take overs. Pizza is great but mac n cheese and sandwiches are not to be missed.

Stopped in with my wife a few weeks back. Sat at the bar and had a great experience. The bartenders know their beer, and if you ask for the bottle binder they get you started in the right place. The tap list was extensive and impressive but we saw Big Bad Baptist on the bottle list and went with it. The pizza was huge and really tasty; probably the best I've had in Denver. Super fresh ingredients and a great selection of toppings. The service was awesome through the whole meal. When the bill came I was shocked how inexpensive it was. I can't think of a better value for the dollar in Denver. I can't recommend Hops & Pie enough, I just wish I lived closer.

Nice well lit place ( soon to grow larger with the addition of the building next door). The service is fast (consideing how packed it can be) and knowledgeable. The quality of the beers is excellent as most are 5 gallon kegs and rotated regularly. The selection is great with 22 taps and about the same number of bottles if not more. The food is good especially the pizza. Very reasonably priced especially for the neighborhood and a good place to visit all around. Now if they would just get rid of the TVs so I can enjoy my beer on Sunday without all the football nuts crowding in!

I love this place for what it is, a pizza and craft beer joint.
Their selection is outstanding and always changing. Had Pliney the Younger and Elder one trip, more recently got to do an Angel's Share preceded by Old Viscosity and GDBC's Grand Cru. Nice!
The pizza is good, love that I can get slices to soak up all the 10% abv. beer I drink when I'm in there.
They seem to be doing allot of firkin's and beer type events with local breweries which is cool.
Small as hell don't kid yourself, but it's more like a neighborhood comfy small not like flying Southwest next to a fat guy and screaming baby small, so I'm good with it!

Now that they have doubled their space, I figured I'd do another update. The space certainly helps with seating, as well as letting in a bit more light. I am liking this place more and more. Keep it up Drew and Leah! (Bumped up score a bit too.)
One more update for Hops & Pie. It's official, they're expanding the space! They'll more or less double their space, as they're expanding through the wall on the south side of the restaurant, into the adjacent shop front next door.
I have bumped-up my score a bit in the "vibe" and "selection" categories, as they seem to really be stepping it up, as was clear during GABF week. Lots of hard to get beer and a new firkin every day. Limited on tap space, so don't expect this to become something akin to Falling Rock, but for the taps they have, they do a great job. Now, if they would just knock through the wall next door and enlarge the space a little....
I live in the neighborhood, so I am a bit partial to Hops & Pie.
Is it small? Yes, with the adjective "tiny" almost more befitting, especially on the weekends and event days.
They do have more than standard pint glasses for serving.
In addition to the blackboard beer list, which can be a little difficult to read, they also have the beer list on their printed menu. Your server or bartender will notify you if anything on the printed menu has changed in regards to the beer portion.
No, they certainly don't have as many beers on-tap as Falling Rock, but they do a good job of rotating their selections, in my opinion. And they also do a pretty good job of keeping up with their selection on their website, including a section showing which beers are "on-deck" next.
I did not run into any service issues, or "attitude," and I was there on a busy day when things were complete chaos. I was served by, or spoke with 4-different staff members, all of which were polite and friendly, especially considering the hustle and bustle.
The biggest drawback I can see is the complete lack of space. Maybe this will lead them to expand next door? It would also be nice to see a bit more diversity within their beer line-up, as mentioned in a previous review.
Update: After now having ventured to Hops & Pie several times now, I've bumped-up my score since my original review. Nice job and keep up the great service!

I'm starting to think this might be the best beer bar in town. Sure they don't have sixty taps like Falling Rock but the taps they do have are a little more interesting and change often. I had Older Viscosity and Funkwerks Wild Apricot which I haven't seen before on tap. The pizza is very good, I had a slice with ham hock, bacon and jalapeño that was fantastic. Prices are in line with what you'd pay anywhere else, older via was $8 for 10oz which a lot cheaper than a bottle. Overall, I like it a lot.

A - Loved the atmosphere of the place! Primarily because they give you the option of sitting on the bar side or a dining side. Wife and I sat bar side and had a great time chatting with the bartender/waitress.
Q - Everything was very solid. Nothing truly exceptional, but all very good.
S - Everyone was very friendly to us. Nobody went out of their way to provide us with any great service, but again very good.
S - Great selection for a pizza place. Probably, 15-20 taps and an entire binder of bottle options. Primarily local stuff, but as a visitor to Denver, that is exactly what I was looking for out of their selection.
F - Food was very good. One of the better pizza places we've been to in our travels.
Overall, a nice little spot in Denver. We were glad the people at Crooked Stave recommended it to us. We would definitely be regulars here, if we lived in the Denver area.

Went with friends for a late lunch on a Friday.
A: Good, but nothing special.
Q: Again, good but nothing special.
S: Service was quick and courteous.
S: While they specialize in pizza + beer, they also have sandwiches, salads, and snacks. On the menu, they only have a daily slice and a single pizza-of-the-day, but you can build your own to order and the topping selection is quite good.
The beer selection will vary, and in my case, actually got better compared to earlier in the day. A number of kegs had kicked, so they put on some (imo) tastier things. They also offer reasonably priced 3oz samples of their beers.
F: One of the better California/Colorado-style pizzas I've had. The toppings were generous and the crust was just the right balance of crispy and fluffy.
V: The beers were reasonably priced, but the pizza can get quite expensive if you build your own.
O: If I lived nearby, this place would definitely be a staple.
