I've made it out to the Flying Saucer on a few occasions, and must say that I have yet to leave truly dissatisfied.
The Flying Saucer generally always has something going on, so no matter what day of the week, or what time of the month, something is going down. Everyone there is having a good time, and its quite obviously that SEVERAL people have made SEVERAL repeat visits. They get the newest, freshest products in, and if you hit them at the right time, you'll get to try something quite nice. I was lucky enough to be around for a Utopias opening. They know how to serve the beer and to give you the right style glassware for the right style beer. Honestly, for the selection and views you see there, its really not unreasonable pricing for what you're getting.
I've recommended numerous people to this location, and am sure that I'll be making several more in the future.

The selection is undeniably the best in Texas, after that, the place has little to offer compared to smaller places like The Hay Merchant or The Petrol Station. Many downtown douches frequent this place keeping it from truly being a fun beer hangout, in my humble opine. Nevertheless, after moving to Seattle I can now say that I have experienced much better but this is towards the best Texas has to offer until laws change. Cool reward club allows frequent drinkers to chart their progress (?) and get points for drinking more. Works for everybody. The lady and I ate across from a guy taking his daughter on a date but his phone was his best friend, poor lil' gal. Waitress was being hit on by businessmen wishing and hoping, praying and preying. This bar as compared to the dive bars across the street highlight the lack of middle class in our country. What happened to middle class pubs? When in Texas, if in Texas again, I will stop by again to see if my views have changed or if my jaded self has been correct in its assesment. Are there 4 s's in that word? Anyhoo, give this place a shot and see what you think, it is truly a sight to be seen but consider if you want to become what the regulars here are.

A good atmosphere, has a big main room. Some don't like the big open bright bars and might prefer something more intimate. There are some booths in the back, but its all about the front room.
I was there on trivia night, which was fun to play. Make sure you bring some friends. You'll need help.
Huge selection of beer. I like the option to get a taster flight of any six beers on tap. A busy place, but the bartenders could be a little more engaging.
Did not try the food.
I visit Houston on a regular basis and will be back.

I feel I would have enjoyed the atmosphere more if it had been less crowded, also I was rather disheartened by their selection. I had heard how great their selection was, but I had already tried many of the unique beers on their menu and I went looking to try something new, granted they had some local stuff I had not tried. I know it was a busy night, so thats probably why the service was slow, but it certainly could have been better. The food was delicious and I was surprised the prices were extremely reasonable. Also, have a friend who got a plate for having 200 beers and I couldn't find it, so that was frustrating. If I find myself in Houston again, I would definitely go back, but its certainly not worth the hour drive if thats the sole destination.

Each night has something going. The atmosphere is great. They do a good job of getting local and regional breweries to come in to show case their beers. They do not always serve the beer in the correct glass but you can let them know and they'll fix it.
The beer selection changes seasonally so there is always something new to try. They have beer from all over. From local breweries to international beers.
The service is sometimes spotty. Some servers take a while to get your orders or disappear for a while, but the food and beer are worth the wait.
Check the website's calendar before you go to see what event they have going on that day.

Stopped by after an architecture tour downtown and grabbed a beer plus a create your own flight. They had a huge beer selection, pretty cool atmosphere. The appetizer I got was pretty good also. The organized list of brews they have is nice, its got which ones are on tap and which ones are in bottles cans etc. I was however disappointed that there were not very many pumpkin brews given the fact that its October. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the downtown area. I know I'll be back again.

Being that I am a member at this establishment I am a little biased. Love the saucer. We have a whole group that goes regularly on Wednesdays. The beer goddesses know most of us by name and take good care of us. The selection is excellent, it changes just enough to keep things interesting as the year goes on. And to be a part of history, having your name on a plate on the wall for all time saying that you drank 200+ beers is worth it in and of itself. I would recommend the Saucer for anyone who loves beer, a good time, good food and meeting new friends who love beer just as much.
...and remember: It doesn't have to make sense, It just has to be loud.

Finally was able to make it to the Flying Saucer. Been wanting to go for a while. A solid atmosphere. Decorated with plates and beer all over the bar. Everyone seems to have a great time, very crowded. Only guy not enjoying himself was the guy puking in the restroom. Service was good. As busy as it was at the bar a waitor checked on us every few minutes. The wait staff had a good idea of everything they had on tap and in bottles and what style they are. Selection is the bets in Texas. Period. Very reasonable price tag on all the beers, can't complain with that. Overall a great experience and look forward to going again.

I was in Houston for 3 nights and happened to end up here every night. Being from WI, I was able to get my hands on a few brews that don't make it to Milwaukee.
The atmosphere was very comfortable and the place is huge. If you're looking for a place that isn't too busy during the week, this is where you should be. My cohort and I were very surprised by how slow things were Tuesday-Thursday night.
The service was great and the servers were all willing to get a bit more information about a brew they weren't incredibly familiar with. After ordering a Westy tripel, one of the servers went out of her way to get me a free sample of another tripel they had just gotten in!
If you're in downtown Houston and you're looking to find a place with a great selection I would definitely say you should make your way here.

Probably the top selection in town, and always plenty of new things available to keep it interesting. Daily fire sale is a good deal, and Sunday ($3 TX pints) and Mondays ($3 most drafts) are even better.
Pretzels and bratwurst dishes are great.
Servers are typically knowledgeable and friendly, and the management is very professional and always looking for ways to ensure all patrons' satisfaction.
Finally, the UFO club is as great for marketing as it is for advocacy. Trying so many different, great beers is what got me into craft beer a few years ago.
