On tap at The Commons today. This is a sour ale aged in Pinot Noir barrels with Wyeast Roeselare blend and house grown cultures.

Pouring a dark red with a dense, off-white head with decent retention and lacing, this looks good. The nose is very vinous with a blend of fruit (berries) and sourness, one that's mostly lactic but does have a little acetic notes. Really bright and fruity, the blend of the wine and sourness is really nice here. The palate's similar. As with most beers from this brewery, the funk character is on the low side. There is, however, quite a bit of clean lactic sourness coupled with a blend of fruity berry acidity, some oak and vanilla. The fruit and vanilla do linger on the finish along with the oak. Very good.

The most understated of the sours at our tasting night, though not quite with the same complexity as the cascade sours. A much lighter, red-fruit sour, with notes airing more towards strawberry and raspberry. A little too thin and watery for my taste, and a little run-of-the-mill for a sour.

Poured crisp and clean into a snifter with a dark orange hue. Crisp scents of citrus got my salivary glands firing and the taste was sour enough to let me know what it was but I didn't make a sour beer face. Definitely lingered in my mouth a little longer than I'd hoped, stripping the lining off my cheeks, but in a good way. Not too bad, not my favorite but I would entertain another on a hot day.

Taste - Sour. Some cherry. Sour brown malts. Hints of a flanders. Vanilla and oak.

Mouthfeel - Medium low carbonation. Slick mouthfeel.

Overall - Tasty without being a complete sour.
