Nick's has really stepped up their game in the last 6 months. It's a family owned grocery store and deli, but lately they've started carrying a lot of craft brews. Stone, Flying Dog, DuClaw, St. Bernardus, Chimay, Sierra Nevada, etc... The great thing about this place is their prices are lower than anywhere else in the S. Maryland area, sometimes by 2-3 dollars for a 750. The grocery section is pretty amazing as well. This is the place to go to buy your steak.. or any kind of meat for that matter. I recently found a whole row of Stone IRS for $6.99, and promptly bought three of them. Service has always been pretty good as well. Looking forward to seeing Nick's continue the direction they're headed w/ craft brew.
8-2011 Edit: While in the check out line w/ about 10 bombers, the beer guy, Fred, came up to me and introduced himself. He volunteered to try and order anything they didn't have on the shelf, and he asked if I had any suggestions of what to carry. Wow. That rocks!

Googled Beer in Waldorf and came up with this place. It was definitely a great little stop. I'm here from out of town frequently. I'll be going back to Nick's. They had a pretty nice selection of higher end beers and for reasonable prices. I picked up a 4 pack of Burtons Baton from a different store in town last night and paid several dollars more than at Nick's. They had the full gamut of beers from Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, etc. Had several beers I have not seen anywhere before.
Super nice, young kid working the beer section. Perfect little diversion.

I stopped in a couple weeks ago while my wife and I were visiting her parents in La Plata and I was amazed at the selection. I was seeking out beers that we don't get here in southwest Florida, and I must say that I was not disappointed in the slightest. They had a very nice selection of large format bottles on the shelves as well as six packs in coolers. For the area, I'd say it would be hard to beat the selection that is available at Nick's. If you're in the area, make sure that you check it out.

While I would rate this establishment highly just because of the nostalgia factor (been going here since I was a kid, and used to go to the original Clinton location with my Grandparents), Nicks of Clinton deserves praise for their relatively small, but well thought-out selection of local brews. DuClaw, Tröegs, Flying Dog, Dogfish Head 750s and 12oz high-gravity offerings, Heavy Seas, and lots of other good stuff was available, along with a solid liquor and wine selection. Recently I settled on a bottle of DuClaw Colossus (around 20 bucks, but worth it), DFH Ta Henket, and Heavy Seas Cab Barrel-Aged Below Decks. Definitely a place I stop by every time I visit home, make sure you grab one of the AMAZING subs if you go. Cheers!

I'm always looking for new places to buy beer, so I figured I'd give this place, right on Rt. 5, a little try.
As soon as I walked in, I was hit with a wonderful smell of "something" that had been prepared in the deli. I was in a rush, so I didn't find out what it was, but shopping for beer in a place that smelled so great was rough in a good way.
The beer is basically broken down along the wall to the far right and the coolers on the east wall with a few bombers on the aisle acrosss from the coolers. The selection was great for a grocery store. No doubt about that. Troegs, Stone, DFH, Sierra Nevada, and the last few remnants of Pete's still lingered. Duvel and Chimay were on the roster, as well as Duclaw and Southern Tier bombers. If you weighed this place against stores dedicated to liquors or beer, you'd be doing this place a disservice. If you need to stop somewhere to pick up some groceries and snag a few wicked good beers - you've gotta stop in.
Upon leaving, I can sum up the atmosphere like this: Locally owned store, likely family members at the checkout.
Pricing was lower than most anything I'd seen in
Va or MD. Very nice prices. On the average of $.50 to $1.00 cheaper in fact.

Nick's of Clinton is a good local grocery store with a much better than expected selection of brews from which to choose. The store carries a variety of domestic and foreign beers, including Sam Adams, Tröegs, Chimay, Paulaner, Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, and more.
I have spoken to the beer rep on the phone a few times, and he was more than willing to attempt to special order a few things for me, though this never came to fruition.
The thing that sets Nick's of Clinton apart from the other beer stores in the area is pricing. While the prices at Nick's of Clinton are fair, competitive, and reasonable, the other three decent beer stops in this area price their beers at least a dollar or two above the going rate.
UPDATE 21 Feb 2012
I really like the new beers making their way onto the shelves. Lots of Goose Island, Jolly Pumpkin, Belgian gift sets, limited releases from DuClaw. I am becoming more and more of a fan of my local beer stop.
