Thanks to Lukahn (Reddit) for this, my first from this brewery.

Nice fluffy 1+ finger head that doesn't want to fade, but leaves a bit of lacing as it slowly does, over semi hazy slightly darker nectar orange colored beer.

Nose has some lighter hops, a bit of pine, hint resin, light citrus, more candy like hops again that bring a bit of candied orange zest, a light sweet caramel malt and candy like base, and most likely some bittering hops.

Taste continues, with some earthy hops, little pine and citrus, decent bitterness, again a light candy hop flavor with more candied orange, and a little rind. Light fruits under that, with a bit of chewy candy malt base, little caramel and slight sweet malt to balance the hops. Juicy but light overall, big malty base. Finish is still a bit sweet, bit more bitterness, little fruity and citrus hop, more candy hops and malt flavors lingering.

Mouth is med bodied, little fluffy, good carb.

Overall not bad. Not sure why it has such a low rating. Not the best hops but decent, lighter on the bitterness but still overall pretty tasty, clean, etc. Little too sweet as well but still decent.

The Lost Spring Break 2012 Beer Reviews, chapter 3

Bright amber body, plenty of carbonation streams, topped by a fizzy white head. Light lacing.

Assertive pine aroma. Could use a bit of fruitiness.

Sloppy sweetness in he beginning, not a real solid foundation. Traces of soapiness. Late arriving citrus. Bitterness builds instead of biting.

Ok light-plus mouthfeel.

Overall, it looks and and smells good, but it needs work. Not one to search for.

This is really a bothersome beer.

Very lightly hopped, almost no nose, no bitterness on the palate.

My experience with Cold Storage is that they dont appear to want to make good beer. It seems as if they are content to try to be a bridge between Macro drinkers into the Micro industry by creating very homogenized versions of craft styles. I cant imagine a brewer who was worth his salt tasting this beer out of the bright tank and saying, "Yup, this is the IPA i want to put out".

Avoid avoid avoid.

[Suggested Glassware: Shaker Glass]

The pour was a clear medium amber with an average (1-2 finger) off white rocky head that lasted for a short while, reducing to a few puddles and large collar which produced good sticky lacing.

The aroma was of a light grain malt, floral hops and a light soapy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (orange).

The taste was lightly sweet with a big caramel presence, which lasted throughout. And then had a decent hoppy citrus peel bitterness which increased slightly towards the end. The flavor hung around for a decent time after the swallow with the mild bitterness fading slowly into the background, which allowed the slight sweetness to blend well with the hops.

Mouthfeel was a little past light in body and mildly dry in texture with a medium carbonation.

Overall a nice light, not overly hoppy IPA, with an awesome drinkability...

12oz bottle. Best by date of May '12, so this is a little old drinking late Jully. Poured into a white wine glass.

A: Bright orange color. Slightly hazy. Basically only got a ring of bright white for the head retention. Leaves a little bit of lacing, nothing major though.

S: Smells like a malt bomb at this point. Just a lot of bready, sweet malts. Hops are totally masked at this point.

T: Initially I actually do get a touch of a hop bite on the tip of the tongue. It's very little though. There is a strange almost medicinal flavor note in the mid palate. I have no idea what to compare it to, but I don't like it. Then you get those malts. The typical dry IPA finish.

M: It's medium bodied IPA.

O: C- or lower...maybe a fresher one would help.
