Bonfire's website describes this as their “training wheels” IPA to bring some of the wheat fans along to the joys of hoppiness. Pink-I is started with an IPA recipe using the Falconer’s Flight from Hop Union. 84lbs of raspberry puree from Oregon Fruit was added. The aroma is mostly raspberry, as is the initial taste, followed by a noticeable hop bitterness.
Overall, very interesting, but nothing I'm going to seek out again.

Yes, this is another beer that comes my way courtesy of the legendary woodychandler. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a pinkish/golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is kind of mild, some raspberries. Taste is a bit unusual. Some bitterness up front, light raspberries, both things I like separately, but together just seems a bit off. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an interesting beer, but only mediocre.

Pours a a finger of light tan-pinked head over a murky dark peach-colored liquid. Smells robustly of raspberry with minimal grassiness and lemony citrus underneath. Tastes strongly of raspberry acidic, sharp hop bitter, and rough piney hop flavor. Waxy, resinous, lemon. Medium in the mouth and drying astringent finish. Fine sharp carbonation. The acid of the raspberry and bitter of the hops contrast in an unpleasant way. In my homebrew, raspberry beers need about months for the raspberry acid to settle out. Not sure time would help this beer, as the hops of the IPA would fade a bit in that time.

The Old Lady was like a modern Siren, enticing me to come out and visit her in what I now refer to as CANorado. I made the long journey westward, only to find that my amorous feelings for her were MUCH stronger than her reciprocal feelings for me. Ah, ma coeur! In the meantime, she was a most gracious hostess and a like mind, which made it all the more painful. Towards the end of my visit, I gathered my shopping list and went all over town, gathering and buying CANs like it was my first time. The look on the babe's face when she came down from her place of work to help me stow all of my CAN booty in her vehicle was priceless. She could not believe that I had hauled so much around on public trans by myself nor that my (relatively) small frame could carry it, period. I am like an insect, capable of lifting 1000x my body weight, but I was pretty sore for a few days afterward. This will be my third in the wondrous event known as New Beer Sunday (week 445 - Labor Day weekend version).
From the CAN: "It's pink. It's an IPA. It's Pink-I. Caramel and Munich Style Malts."; Fruit beer haters tried to talk us out of this one, but we wanted a big, , accessible IPA to bring some of the lighter-fare fans along to the joys of hoppiness. We start with a traditional IPA recipe using Falconer's Flight hops. Just as fermentation is wrapping up,we add 2 1/2 lbs of raspberry puree per gallon. The aroma is all raspberry, and so is the initial hit on your palette [sic]. The Crack came off without a hitch and subsequently, an inverted Glug was employed, resulting in two-plus fingers of rocky, pink foam that looked like freshly-spun cotton CANdy until it began to fall, leaving beautiful lacing in its wake. Color in this instance was a cloudy pinkish-amber. And speaking of pink ...
As members of the male gender, we should all thank former President Wm. J. Clinton for negating fellatio as sex. CANversely, we seem to have overlooked the joy of cunnilingus until, recently and in particular, on the FX network. "Louie", "The League" and "The Bridge" have all broached the subject in one way or another and I am all for it. My first girlfriend, as a teenager, taught me not to be intimidated by the pink and I learned that lesson well. I always tell my intimates, "I am not a gynecologist, but I'll happily take a look." Darker-skinned women's sex looks like rare roast beef nestled there while true redheads have a chunk of coral, all there for the essen. How does this tie into where I left off, you may ask? I will celebrate my 50th birthday (25 Feb) in 2015 and The Old Lady and I plan to meet up in Lincoln, NE to have a joint birthday party with Valerie Dobbs, AKA Val Midwest, whose 21st birthday will be on Valentine's Day of that year. For the uninitiated, she is an Internet porn star and resident of Lincoln, NE. Salmon (pink, fleshy, slightly fishy) will hopefully be on the menu.
Nose was frickin' amazing! It had it all - raspberries and hops, both melded together beautifully. My mouth wasn't just watering, it was like an open faucet. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full and the taste was bee-yoo-tee-full! I instantly got the fruitiness, but closely followed by some great bitter hops flavor. My Mom-Za recently asked me, on behalf of a friend, whether or not I am a hophead. She is coming up on 81 y/o and does not know what that currently refers to, defaulting to marijuana or heroin. When I responded with an enthusiastic "Yes!", she looked bemused as she often does with her firstborn. To this hop addict, this was like maintenance drinking. It probably would not sustain me for the long haul, but it would hold me over in between IPAs. The fruit was not getting in the way of the hops, but neither was it enhancing them. I dislike Black IPAs as the dark malt does get in the way of the hops, often overpowering them, while I like White IPAs as the yeast really interacts well with the hops. Here, it was almost a wash. Given what they are saying on the CAN, I would be curious to find out how successful they are in their quest. How do non-hopheads feel about this beer? As a hophead, I see it as a novelty, but not sustaining. They do get it right, though. Fruit, initially, but with a drying wash of hops at the end. Color it semi-dry as a result. Think pink!

Appearance - nice pink color so you know there is some raspberry. Nice lacy head is left with the pour.
Smell - very sweet and raspberries for sure.
Taste - sweet up front and some bitter hops which doesn't balance well for me.
Mouthfeel - the offsetting flavor from the hops and sweet is not very nice
Overall - not a bad beer, but the balance left behind is not nice
