12 oz bottle into hardywood tulip. no bottled on date.
A: color is a hazy straw yellow/orange hue. way too hazy for a pils. bright white head is bubbly. retention and lacing are decent.
S: pretty solid german hop aroma. reminds me of a less hoppy version of vbc prima pils, which is a good way to start. enough grain to poke a presence.
T: flavor starts similar to the nose. herbal. a little bit of citrus or lemon rind flavor. sort of thins it out a bit. finish is grainy and has some lingering bitterness.
M: moderate amount of fizz. light bodied.
D: not a bad stab at the german pils from a brewery that doesnt do a lot of lagers. great aroma. needs some clarification and maybe some more lagering would really take this brew up the charts.

On tap at Rustico Alexandria. Standard version and an unfiltered keller version (cask) served in mini snifters side-by-side. Review for the standard version. Pours a clear straw-golden color with a good white head and a bit of lacing. The nose has some nice herbal and floral hops atop a pilsner-malt base. Flavor is crisp and clean. Could use a bit more bitterness and hop character, but it’s still clean. Light crisp body. Pretty good.

Poured a hazy golden colour with a nice white head.
Not too much smell a little malt breadiness.
The taste was weak, a bit of breadiness and a little hop bitterness.
The mouth feel was light with medium carbonation.
Overall I was very disappointed, Port City is my local brewery so I really wanted to like this but the taste and smell was very weak.

Enjoyed at the brewery tap room in Alexandria, VA.
A: single finger and excellent lacing on a slightly hazy bright golden body.
S: grains, pale malts, saaz hops.
T: nice degree of bitterness throughout but remains clean. Very nice malt and grain base to this one.
M: lighter side of medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall: this is a very nice flavorful and bitter Czech pilsner. One of the better brews from this brewery.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner style glass.
Really nice looking pilsner here, a huge column of rising uniform pinhead bubbles, all lining up and dancing through an eighteen karat gold body. Head is a real nice clumpy bright white, with some staying power, the beer looks very inviting.
Real nice bready malts, with a big and controled hop floral action it seems. There's a little bit of woody smoke in this which is really odd but I seem to dig it. So far looking forward to this.
Dang what happened? Palate hits, but there's just nothing really going on. Mid palate doesn't really fill with anything, no sweetness, no malt taste, it feels completely empty. Finish has some mild hop bitter taste, and some slight bread dough. Mouthfeel is solid for a nice density in German territory, but the palate just doesn't come forward.
Overall, a bit of a disappointment compared to most German pilsners I've had, but an ok beer.

From bottle to nonic pint...
A. Pours a fairly cloudy, pale straw gold. About a half finger of eggshell white head, tightly beaded and uniform. Lacing is pretty good as well.
S. Grains, bread, and some mild spiciness from the hops. Little bit of lemon, no real grassiness.
T. Pretty good, with more grains, bread crust, and a good does of herbal bitterness on the finish from the hops. Very nice.
M. Crisp, refreshing, light.
O. This is pretty damn good. Wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the pleasing grain bill and a nice hop and herbal character. Impressive.

12oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass. It poured golden in color with a foamy white head filling the top inch of the glass. Nice looking lacing on the glass as I drank it.
The aroma is crisp with a mix of pale, grainy malts and some earthy, slightly peppery, European hops. I get a little bit of a sweeter, light fruit qualities to it as well.
The taste shows a little more of the herbal, peppery, European hops throughout. It's crisp and a little bit fruity and grainy up front, but the hops give it a little more of a bitter kick in the finish.
The mouthfeel is on the lighter side with carbonation being a little above average. Overall, it was a pretty decent and drinkable beer of the style. It was light, crisp, flavorful and showed a good amount of hoppiness to it for the style. Pretty good beer overall.

My nephew brought a growler of this up to Lancaster this weekend along with one of the Wit. It's a very pretty beer in the glass; a slightly hazy gold with a generous head that scattered into lacing. The beer is actively generating a nice stream of bubbles. The aroma is not the best characteristic of this beer but is malty and pleasant. I liked the flavor which is well balanced and not assertive. There is a decent, lingering finish that tends toward the hoppy. The conditioning is very good, just enough to perk up one's thirst quenching but not enough to crowd the subtle pilsner flavors. A good beeer to drink while writing on the porch.

From 06/09/12 notes. Had on tap at Meridian Pint at their Drink Local event.
a - Pours a clear pale yellow color with one inch of white head and low carbonation evident.
s - Smells of wheat, grains, bready malts, dirt, some earthy notes. Pretty average, though not bad.
t - Tastes of bread, wheat, grains, light earthy and floral notes. Pretty nice, slightly better than the nose, with a tiny bit of sweetness.
m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation evident. Easy to drink.
o - Overall a decent pilsner. The nose is a bit bland and average, but the taste is a little sweet and better. Easy to drink and a good summer beer, would have it again.
