From notes on 02/29/12:
No freshness date; Poured in a pint glass.
A - 1-1/2" off-white creamy head with nice retention; Hazy in appearance with an orange hued amber color; Visible carbonation within the glass; Decent lacing left behind
S - Bigger aroma when the head is still around; Nice balance of toasted malts and floral and grapefruit hops
T - Good balance of both malts and hops here with flavors of toasted bread and grains, caramel, pepper, grapefruit, and apricot; Overall flavor is a tad muted with nothing really coming forward strongly; Mild bitterness present in the beginning of the taste
M - Good amount of carbonation; Just under medium bodied; Semi-dry finish
O - Overall, this is a solid IPA offering from Port City. I would've liked for the flavor to stand out a bit more than it did, but the flavor profile itself was pretty good. I think this brew falls somewhere in the middle tier of Virginia IPA's and wouldn't mind trying it again sometime down the line.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance –Pours a hazy orange amber color with a one finger white head. The head fads over a few minutes to leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is of a sweeter citrus fruit and tropical fruit mixed with good doses of grapefruit hop and a very light pine hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter fruit flavor of tangerine and some tropical fruits of mango and pineapple. Mixed with these tastes are flavors of a more bready and slightly doughy nature as well as some grapefruit hop taste. As the flavors advance more toward the initial tastes more grapefruit hop comes to the tongue as well as some lighter pine hop flavors. These flavors largely take the taste to its end where a overall citrus sweet and hop flavor linger on the tongue leaving a quite pleasant aftertaste.
Mouthfeel -The body of the beer is on the creamier and thicker side for a standard IPA of 6.3 % with a carbonation level that is more on the average side. Overall it feels rather nice on the tongue as the thicker body gives the sweeter fruit and hoppier flavors a good chance to be sensed by the tongue, yet the medium carbonation keeps it very drinkable and quite refreshing. It is a good combo.
Overall – A rater tasty IPA that had a fairly nice balance between sweet fruit and nice more citrus hop flavor. Worth a try if you get a chance.

The overall appearance of this beer is sadly it's most monumental quality. It pours a hazy golden amber with a thin, lacy head that sticks to the sides of the glass, and slowly slips down the sides with every sip. It's visually quite appealing. Unfortunately, though, that's where my compliments stop. There's really no significant hops fragrance here, and quite frankly, the malts-which are the stand outs-are hard to pick up too. The taste and mouthfeel are the least enjoyable qualities here: one dimensional with a sweet malty backbone quickly replaced with a bitter, dry finish reminiscent of the first time I tried an acorn. The sweetness dissipates almost immediately, and is rapidly replaced with bitterness and a strong desire to comb my tongue.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle at Osteria 177 on Main street in Annapolis, MD
A: Pours an orange-amber hue with a thick, two-finger, white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace leaving a nice trail down the side of the glass.
S: Hoppy aroma with a citrus and pine background.
T: Nice and bitter IPA with an excellent hop and malt mix. Finishes in the bitter side.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation.
O: This was an excellent IPA – So good I ordered another.
